How to Adjust Headlights Easy Straight to the point video

It's a very easy process to adjust the height of your headlight beams. I'm working on a Toyota Sienna van but the process is the same in nearly all vehicles. The screw may look different though.

A man of few words but when he says something it useful. Video is to the point and doesn’t waste my time with BS. Well done!
Saved me a lot of time watching 20mins videos that didnt even show how to do it. Thank you for your video, really helped. Really straight to the point.
These are intended to be adjusted from above (not using a 10mm socket) by inserting a cross-point (phillips head) screwdriver along the groove until the point engages the "gear" which turns the dial clockwise or counterclockwise. Many headlights have the 10mm pan head which are covered by trim or other components, which are not accessible.

Interesting...... My 2017 Highlander has a similar screw as this one does but a 10 mm is too big for the screw on mine. I sarched and found a Toyota manual online that shows how to adjust the low beam on a 2018 which is the same as mine and it said to use a socket on this screw. I wish I had a printer to print that page because I forgot one thing that is also important. Which way do you turn it to raise or lower the beam. I'm pretty sure it was counter clockwise to raise it and clockwise to lower it but I'm not 100% sure. By the way I did adjust one of my low beams up to match the other one ( stock and npo accidents so either it was "out of alignment" from the factory or the last bulb change may have had the bulb slightly wonky?????? if that would affect it. It's easy to see what turn direction does what to the beam though. I do remember that to move the beam took more cranks with the ratchet as you can only move it about 1/8th of a turn due to the amount of space. I'm going to look for the slot for the screw driver though as soon as it gets light outsuide. Thanks. \

Wow that's clever design. Thanks for saving us some time!
Super helpful. Straight to the point. Thank you!
Thank you so much for getting straight to the point. I went thru so many videos and still didn’t understand until I watched this one. Once again thank you. 🤗
Finally someone explain how to turn that screw to which direction for making the beam lower or higher. Those clockwise and counterclockwise from other videos were so confusing. Thank you very much.
I just got my Van Headlight adjust today, after I watched your video. Thank you !
You are the man! I couldn't figure out how to adjust the headlights on my 2004 Avalon but I looked down there and there is a screw similar to the one on your Sienna. It's a little hidden and I needed a stubby star head but I loosened the screw and the beam is actually shining down the street instead of directly at the ground. Very nice! I had to remove my headlight to mess with the screw but it was worth it.
Short and to the point Great Job !!!! Thank you!!

Very helpful ! :) I’ve just installed some new light units to my ‘09 VE wagon so now … I can get it right before jumping into traffic :) . Cheers !!
The most simple and best explanation, thank you.
Thanks. Just what I was looking for. Very helpful!
If you can't reach this screw with fingers then it is designed to reach with a Phillips, you put it in the hole at the top and the notches on the Phillips fit into the gear and then you can adjust up or down with ease by turning the Phillips either way.
THANK YOU FOR KEEPING IT SIMPLE.
This was perfect!! Exactly the information I needed. Thank you!!
Great video helpful and to the point.
Wow this is Great lecture, I just watched this video and adjusted my light right away
Appreciate your effort and sharing the vlog.
Thank you for the video. This is the type of beam adjuster my headlights have, however mine is a 12 mm. How many turns to adjust? I turned about 20 turns in either direction and it does not seem to have any effect? Is this for high beam, low beam, or both?
Thank You For Sharing us Your Video i Replaced My 2006 Honda Civic Headlight Housing Assembly And Headlight was Too Low After i Watch Your Video And i got Perfect Adjusted Thanks Again i'm From Vancouver British Columbia Canada 😁👍👍👌

Extremely helpful

Hello thank you this help alot adjust them in 10min
My 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5L sedan has one adjustment screw one each headlight assembly. My passenger side low beam was too high so turning it clockwise lowered it to the correct height. BUT, doing so also caused my high beam to lower the same amount so now, while the low beam aims correctly, the high beam on that side points to the ground 6 feet in front of the car. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how were you able to adjust the low beam without affecting the high beam?

The only thing that I can think of is that one of the bulbs on that headlight assembly ( it has on for each beam does it?) is not seated properly in the "socket". There are 3 ":tabs" on the bulb's mounting ring that go into 3 slots in the socket in the headlight and it is possible to get 2 in and not the third which throws the beam off a bit. Check that first ( I am having a hell of a time getting a new set of LED replacement bulbs in. They aren't those obnoxious overly bright " more than legal brightness for a low beam" LEDs but they have tabs that Halogen bulbs making it hard to get all 3 in. Also if your lowbeam is a Projector style and you are using LEDs it is crucial that the final position of the LED stick has it straight up and down with the LEDs on the sides at the 3:00 oclock and 9:00 positions. Check to see if any of this applies because if your headlights were okay before and you haven't been hit in the front end or had removed the headlight housing for some reason and that moved things around the beam direction shouldn't have changed much if at all.
What do I do if mine don't work? Replace the whole thing?
Very helpful thanks
I can adjust mine by hand so does that mean its too loose? 2011 srx

Nice video and straight to the point. But what you failed to mention is what kind of vehicle this is on? Different vehicles have different headlight adjustors on it. My doesn't have this...
Mine is too low. Can hardly see unless I put full lights. Will this help?
Thanks for the help! I wasn’t sure where to even start.
Thanks for the info
Thank you !
Easy enough, thanks
Trying to find the adjustment screw on the passenger side is a pain in the rear. Thank you for showing the info

Thank you!!!
This will adjust the up and down, now how u adjust the right and left, my left side is pointing right on the same spot where my right light is.
Does this knob located on both sides?
Does it work the same on Chevrolet sail?
Thanks!
Thank you, tired of people flashing me with high beams lol. The guy who installed it said it was perfect when I told him it was too high on the drivers side. No more business for him.

Now what to do if my new replacement parts only have one adjuster and the old ones had two?
Well, I tried that on my brand new headlights and gave it some 10 or 12 whole turns with no visible difference. How many turns should I expect for a visible change? I cannot find any Toyota Yaris sedan online... But thanks for the video anyway, it confirmed that I was in the right direction. BTW, the teeth are for a Philips screwdriver with a long stem under an angle of 90 degrees. Mostly slided in from above.

you have to turn several rotations for the lens to adjust (move)

You probably have to turn it a lot to see any difference. What I did was I drew a line or put down a yard stick or something a few feet in front of your lights. Stand there and see where the lights shine on your legs. Mine were way under my knees about 3 feet away. On the other side they were right above my knees, so I loosened the screw all the way loose (left) and then I stood in front of the lights again behind the stick and they were right above my knee like the other side. The screw gets harder to turn once you near the end. Then you can adjust it from there. If you have a flat surface and some painters tape and a wall, you can do it the proper way. I was just doing a rough adjustment just to see if that screw made a difference. At first, I didn't notice anything at all, but my beam was literally shooting directly at the ground.
How would you do this on a 2000 Dodge Dakota
How about side to side adjustments?
Put some new headlights on my 2005 Highlander. The light is pointing to the ground so I guess I need to turn the adjustment screw to the left to raise the headlight beam...thx
What vehicle is this? Would it work on a 2001 Buick LeSabre? Or gm I guess.
what kind car are you showing in your video
thank you
What vehicles? Thank you.
Straight to the point! Thank you!!!!! I lifted my Prius and now everyone thinks I have my brights on.
What about left and right?
Your headlight ajust saved me 175.00 a shop said i need new head lights that they wer not adjustable
Be sure that you are adjusting the proper one, as the low beam and high beam have separate adjustment screws.
Im gona go to the car right meow and see if this can be done thanks man will give update
thanks

park your car facing your garage door. use tape to mark the garage door where your old lights shine on the door. if you only have a single light and make the tape marks symmetrical. now adjust the lights to the tape targets and when you are done, remove the tape.
Lovely
8mm close small mini wrench or a phillips screw driver to adjust the headlights ....5 stars Video
