Whilst sat at the school gates waiting to pick up my kid I stumbled upon a 10mm spanner in the glove box. So, I gave the instructions from this video a try.. It worked a treat - thank you. I would point out though, you DO NOT have to remove those two screws.

Good video--I just did 2015 Manual Sportage. I did not need to open 2 bolts inside storage box. I just loosened plastic cover around handbrake handle and levered up cover around gearstick. I then adjusted handbrake about 15mm with 10mm ratcheting spanner. However i left handbrake lever poking out thru plastic cover thingy as otherwise when handbrake is adjusted down to 3 or 4 clicks it would be very difficult to get that grey plastic cover replaced around gearstick and handbrake lever

If you need to have the hand real all the way up to take the cover off, wouldn't adjusting it make it way harder to put it back on?

Para tensar que hay que aflojar o apretar el tornillo?

@@pacosarasua9173 hola Paco, si lo que quieres es tensar porque no te frena es apretar, en el sentido de las agujas del reloj, pero ten cuidado y ve probando con cada par de vueltas que des, así no te pasarás, saludos y suerte. Pd: cuéntanos cómo te ha ido cuando acabes.
