    Lovely video mate, recently started doing the slack adjustment/check myself on my 390 Duke. Only doing it with a 17mm open spanner on the axle nut side. Hope to get a companion ring or socket for the bolt side. Quick question, can you share a link to those disposable gloves? I saw a few on Amazon but reviewers complain of easy tearing. The ones you're wearing seem a bit more up to the task :)

  • @thesportztourer

    @thesportztourer

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi! First you can begin by roughly selecting a center point in between the front and rear sprocket like shown in the video, from there try to force the chain down and up (vertically), the total distance from bottom point to top point is your chain slack. Thanks a lot for valuing and appreciating the content on the channel, really means a lot to me 😊 I have explained something similar but in more detail over here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/jJqm08mcmJiffZs.html

    I would like to tell one important point here, Dominar, pulsar 200 ns, KTMs all come with side stands only. This creates a lot of pain in properly aligning the chain, you may feel you have done perfect alignment by checking the engraved marks on both the sides but unfortunately when wheel is made into action at higher speeds you will hear a gushing sound of chain which annoys a lot.

A problem I face regularly is the chain becoming slack and I need to keep adjusting it almost every weekend. Another thing I wanted to ask, I have seen TVS Service Centre follow certain practice. They usually make other co-workers to sit on the riders and pillion seat. And they set the chain slack wrt the weight consideration of both the rider and pillion. I find it unusual though because most of the time due to this practice the chain slack is more(loose chain) than the prescribed company settings.( Provided that the motorcycle is in standstill condition without any load on her) What are your views on this?

    There are torque recommendations in the bike’s owner’s manual for such bolts. It basically tells you how tight it should be for optimum performance of that nut. If you tighten it more it may cause issues, if you tighten it less it may come out due to vibration. There a tool called torque wrench which is used where you can set the tightness number ( torque value given in manual) in the tool and then tighten it. It stops at that value and will indicate that the tightness has reached the value required. Torque wrenches are a bit expensive though.
