Also once you put weight on the bike it will make it even tighter. Aim for the middle of spec or towards the looser measurement.
Just a couple notes... You're going to want the chain on the looser side of the spec. If it's tight, it'll wear the sprocket and chain faster. Also, when checking the chain, you should rotate the tire until you find the tightest part of the chain.
Thanks, man just did mine great conformation of process
This is the best video for the adjustment I’ve come across. Thank you!
Torque wrench should never be used as a breaker bar.

I’ve got a couple of tutorials on the basic stuff. Check out my channel and if there’s anything else you’d like to see let me know 👍🏼
Very easy to follow along, I'll probably have to do this sometime next year cause mine is taking its looooong winter nap (Wisconsin winters suck SMH)

The wait continues.. 🤣
Thanks for this!! I needed help & boom there you were #lifesaver
You absolutely have to check whether you have the sprocket set in a straight line with the chain after tensioning it. A tool with a metal rod, which you then clamp to the sprocket and check if it is perpendicular is really cheap to get and easy to use. Please upvote this so new riders won't get their chains and sprockets worn out like I have.
You’ve confused chain slack with tension. You need to look at the top of the chain when moving it up and down. When the top begins to move / tighten up that is where your slack measurement ends and you begin measuring tension… your chain is now too tight because you went far beyond the slack measurement

@macfattahi1295 yes you are right. I have z900 and i spent many times adjusting it, by pushing it hard down and up, but after watching @davemosstuning videos and others, come to find that the slack messured without boring it tention from the above chain, so moving only without the top one moving. Another video i have seen showed why the tention is different on different parts. Mostly it has almost nothing todo with the chain itself, but it’s the sproket not being fully centered, so it creates different tention. I had my adjusted first so i bearly got 25mm (min) with really going up and down.. but that was way too tight
Nice video. I have an issue where i can't seem to get the correct slack. As soon as i move the bike ( shocks moving ) the chain goes super tight. If i try to make it loser to take into account this issue then it just stays loose. I must have tried a dozen times and the outcome is exactly the same. Even got Kawasaki to try and it was good when i left the shop and loose as a goose by the time i got home. A half turn on the slack screws for me changes the tightness completely. Its like there is no half measure for m chain.
I used my condor stand for the front and rear stand so the tire won’t slide around. A tad above one inch is where I leave mine and maintain it weekly.
What size and pitch are the bobbins? Struggling to find some for my 900rs
@andrew, tention or slack is different on a chain because the sprokets are not perfectly round, so that is why you need to find tightest spot on a chain
What mirrors are those? Do they hit the tank?
Every time I get my chain tension where I want it I then tighten my bolts. Once I get them tighten I check my chain slack again and for some reason it gets tighter after tightening the bolts. For me I get it around 35mm of tension and by time I tighten the bolts it is somewhere around 30mm of tension. Not sure why my chain tightens more when I tighten the bolts but it does.
Don’t you tighten until you can bend the teeth on the sprocket when you pop a wheely?
Where did you get the bike stand and adapters to raise the bike? I’ve only seen ones that go on the axle nut.

The stand I got at my local Cycle Gear. The swing arm spools that the stand rests on came from TST industries
also i really love ur bikes color, is it a custom painted or from the factory?

How do you keep your bike sooo super cleannn, is there a cleaning tutorial??
Did you loosen the large axle nut on the non chain side also?

No, there is only one side you need to loose
I don’t get the chain tightening because as soon as you jump on the bike the slackness goes
Are you active on Facebook? I am located in the valley as well amd had a question for you.

Sure, what’s up?
I keep mine at 32 mm better to be on the looser side you’ll know if you hold the clutch in at 50mph if you hear wine noice chain is to tight
Thanks 🙏 m8
Easier than I thought... scared of screwing it up though 😅
Never use a torque wrench to loosen bolts. Only to tighten

Please don't use you torque wrench to losing things ... you will mess it up
A standard wrench on a metric! Are you crazy! That ain’t no Harley!
