After much frustration in discovering I needed a special tool to adjust my Poulan Pro string trimmer, I found this video. Went to my electrical satchel, and found two small wire connectors that were close in size needed. Smallest one was too small, so I snipped one side opening, and it fit great. Crimped the other end to a 1/16" diameter tig filler rod for a handle, and proceeded to adjust my poorly running engine. Engine works great, again! Thanks for the tip!
Bob, your idea worked for me - used the blue crimp wire connector ( meant for 16-14WG) on my Homelite leaf blower (HBL26BVNC) for the idle screw adjustment. Saved me the trouble of finding this pacman screw driver which none of the local hardware stores seem to have. Thank you very much.
You're a genius. I love fixes like this. I have the tools on order, but having a quick solution like this was great.

I bought a leaf blower at Lowes, has about an hr on it, Store would'nt take it back , And nobody wants to work on them.. I thought I was going to throw it out (was 300 bucks ) came across this video, found one that fit, Backed the jet out 3/4 turn total , works great !, This guy is owed many thanks from Me !
just bought a new weed wacker and it bogged in the high rpms...this worked perfectly..Even 2 years later still helping people THANKS!!!
You’re a life-hack saver. Two days and three stores I can’t get the spline tool unless I order it. Leaving Lowe’s now to give that a try bc I have a million of these fittings
I am glad I looked it up here on KZread and you was the first video to pop up. Got yourself a new subscriber
Excellent, thank you! Piggybacking on your idea, what worked for me on my non-adjustable Echo PB 500T backpack Walbro carb (much smaller holes than on yours) was the ink "straw" from a BIC pen. I made a small slice in the end with a razor to allow the straw to open and fit over the needle. I then pushed hard onto the needle and, while continuing to apply pressure, turned. I couldn't really "feel" whether or not the straw was on the needle, but lo and behold it worked! In 5 minutes time I went from a barely starting, constantly stalling backpack to one that runs perfectly without any bogging or stalling at idle. Unreal! I have since ordered the correct adjustment tool from China but I couldn't wait 30-days for delivery to use my blower.

This works! Thanks for the idea. Have a husquvarna 322L from homedepot. Would not rev from idle. Pulled the low speed jet out a half turn. Revs just fine and saved 5 bucks!
Great minds think alike! I discovered this years ago! Thanks for sharing to everyone. I stuck a small flat blade screwdriver for the deep ones. BTW, you can get the screwdrivers now.
Great tip. Worked great. Had to buy a box of those for $4. Blue worked for me. Thanks man!
Your Awesome! No spline tool and aggravated as I'm running out of daylight here, lol! This absolutely works! Thank u

Thanks alot man! I have that same exact weeder! And I wanted to figure out why it starts and dies. I'm gunna start with the carb adjustment and then maybe check out the spark arrestor. Thanks again!
Thinking out of the box. Nice find. Thanks for the sharing.
I like your idea but I didn't want to remove the cover, so taking your idea I had a six inch length of hard plastic tubing maybe fuel line or something, its 5/32" ID and 1/4" OD, it fits perfectly on the spline set screw and within the protection of the adjusting tower, using a little push to get it to fit over the splines it is a snug fit and works perfectly! Thanks for your idea!
Genius! Thanks a ton for the easy fix. Now, back to work.
Thanks a lot.. you just solved my 3 months problem... I will definitely try it... thanks again
Problem solved, frustration level back to normal. Thank you good sir.

This worked for me. Thanks!!!
thanks a lot. Just bought the remington rm2510 and this bogs really bad. going to do exactly what you did next time i use it.
Good suggestion. I've also heard some old style Bic ink pens, remove the cartridge, the octagon shaped one's, will work.
Thanks now the weed eater runs properly.. I didn't know what to use... Worked amazing 🙂
Awesome tip! Simple but highly effective.

This helped me so much thanks 🙏
Awsesome I was tryin to figure that out how to adjust the dam thing and that is perfect thanks a lot helped me out..
Dang, Appreciate this!
God bless you! For that information.
This is easier than what I just did. I used a grinder than took that whole piece down to the screw and then use a hacksaw to cut a groove across the screw head. now i can just use a flathead screwdriver to adjust.
Thanks so much!! It worked great with my weed eater !!

Mega tip 👌 😆 Today will be the day my badly tuned husqvarna 122 whipper snipper is now going to get a rite wake Up! Eek the excitement is immense!! Honestly it's reliable , But she's soo lumpy and fluffy, smokey , v bad I would have said from factory, I've tried various oils at the corect mix, and always smokey, so cant wait to finaly see how well she us after a tune,
Thanks for the tip. Good information
Is the connector actually turning the adjustment screw or sliding around it?
Thank you just a Remington Rustler and its doing the same upon throttle
Great tip! Thank you!

O'd like to see a vid of how to know why a 2cycle engine will not start and lines are new , replaced, fuel is top notch, plug is new and GumOut was squirted in the 'throat ' (covered by the plate at the choke position. My Hitachi blower used to run fine and start right up, but not this spring... Not sure where to look....
Huge help, that worked for me
Awesome. Thank you.
You saved me today..thanks
Does each company have recommended spline tools or are they universal!
Thank u so much. Allowed me to swap out the jets with a screw head type

good thinkin with that one... i ordered a kit of all the heads
I used some 1/4" air tubing, the white plastic stuff on my splined adjusters. I heated the tubing up just a little with my heat gun, let the tubing sit for 5 to 8 seconds and the quenched the tubing in cold water I don't know how it will work on an adjuster that is bare though?

Phil, one trick is to heat up the tip (almst red) of the appropriate sie screw driver & push the tip into the flat top(or domed) of the cover, I figured this one out 20 yrs ago doing a plumbing job for Dad.
Good and nice theory which can make worthy for future

Thanks, needed, tried and worked. But special thanks to the post that enlightened the whole country with there wealth of darknet/almost computer science like knowledge...-You mean you can get these tools on the internet also? Who are you? Ghandi? The fn weed eater Pope? Please reveal yourselves for we would be lost without you.... fktards.
Thank you because I ain’t byeing the same thing I saw the video the chain saw I’m got some of those that I can use I hate the unnecessary crap they put on these weird years and lawnmowers and everything is basically new. They want you to spend money every time when I work on the damn thing by myself to make it nearly impossible you have to take it to the shop. school is better than the school. Thank you for the tip.

Good to know.
I've been using a pen. Just remove the ink and the writing tip. Works best with the kind that tapers at the end
That’s a #12awg to #10 awg barrel crimp Good idea I must try it
Thank you sir.

You can take a plastic ball point pen take out the ink and the end plastic fits on the screws
It's called a butt connector, and I'm about to try it now 🙂
W😊W GREAT TIP 👍🏻
Nice job, but I am looking to find out which screw does what, and actually make a carb adj. I can rig something to grab the screw heads.

Blue color is for 14 to 16 gauge wire and they are called butt splices. The tools are available everywhere from Amazon to ebay. Most are the same ones, from China, sold individually or in sets under various or no brand name. The one in this work around might be the 21 spline driver. It is on ebay starting at 2 bucks with free shipping. If you are not in a hurry, buy the tool.
