How to add Chain Links to your Bachmann Thomas and Friends Rolling Stock
Ойын-сауық
Not something you see many people making a video on. When I was younger I was always very confused by the process of adding 3 link couplings to your rolling stock. But this video will hopefully give you a good insight into the process, in how to improve you Bachmann Thomas & Friends trucks and coaches!
Here are the links to buy these type of couplings yourself. They are avaliable on various websites: www.wizardmodels.ltd/shop/cou...

I wish Bachmann would give Clarabel a guard compartment where her face is so that she’s more in line with her television series counterpart.

As an alternative, you might want to consider Sprat & Winkle-type couplers. They give a screw link look, but still allow automatic coupling. And can also magnetically uncouple.
Excellent masterpiece work of art of everything
I have started using these couplings on my Thomas trains. And I do believe they are much more cool looking.

Great stuff! They are indeed!
1. I personally consider it better to remove the tension-lock couplers non-destructively where possible, just in case. 2. As someone who made the same mistake when I tried my own hand at installing screw links on a couple models ages ago, I take issue with your installation instructions. The hooks should _only_ be truncated and glued _if_ they outright don't fit with their tails intact. The purpose of the tail is to hold a spring and a retainer pin for said spring, to basically act as an expansion joint to help with cornering.
The only bad part is the bachmann buffers on the rolling stock mainly the trucks is so small that they will get caught up with each other when backing around a curve and derail.

I have had no issues so far. Having the hook extend a little bit out can help this issue!

@@MaxwellTheTrainFan you probably won’t be able to find any that are for the size of the Bachmann hooks! But you could always use metal links from key chains for those!

how hard it is to couple the trucks/coaches to the locomotives i can just imagine me taking an hour coupling up a long goods train
@thomasthetankman111
Жыл бұрын
It can be tedious. However, I went to a model show a few moths ago and some people there had build little sticks with hooks to make it easier to connect trains. Something I am thinking of attempting!
@darkstone_official_2427

If these chains are made from a magnetic type of metal, you can also use a small screwdriver with a magnetic tip and attach it to the furthest chain link and then couple them up like that, then just pull slightly down below the hooks so the coupling stays attached and allows you to pull the screwdriver away.
won’t that make them harder to couple up to engines?
@thomasthetankman111
10 ай бұрын
Well it does but it's more accurate to how steam engines look. Which is why a lot of modelers' choose this method. With this method you have to couple and uncouple your wagons manually.
What chain links do you use for the engines?
