This is a great video. My husband and I are going to help our friend's kids do a craft (making necklaces out of the shells they found at the beach) and I did not know how we should close the rope we are using. This is perfect!!

Love that and made to look so simple. I am trying to get as many possibilities for necklace/bracelet with no metal whatsoever for someone with severe metal allergic reactions. Would be grateful for any advice. Please bear in mind I am a novice at all this Maggie

Beads come in all kinds of non-metal materials, including acrylic, glass, ceramic and even polymer clay. For stringing material you can use silk cord or leather, such as shown in this video. Hope this helps! Happy creating 🙂

I absolutely love this!! Thank you for sharing. Simple and yet perfect!! Can you use wax covered cord? Also, what length is good for cord?

I have made these using wax covered cord but they don’t operate smoothly because of the wax, so I wouldn’t recommend it. As far as length, it’s really dependent on how long you like to wear your necklaces. Just be sure to add another 10 to 12 inches to account for the knots and the closure, and of course it has to fit over your head. Happy creating, Sandi! 😀

This is right up my alley! Buying chains can be costly and it ups the price of the pendant. Adjustable is the way to go. Great tip about the type of cord to use too. TFS and stay Blessed

Thanks so much! I've been looking for a simple way of creating a chain for a craft project while going on a mission to Kenya. This will be great! Easy for the kids to do!

Hi Sandy! You mention that we should not get the two knots next to each other (sort of like keeping a social distance between them? sorry, bad joke) . I was thinking of making a tube bead in the same pattern as my pendant which will keep the two knots apart from each other. Would this work, you think?

This will be especially helpful when making jewelry for my kids, so they don't have to worry about clasps & such 👍GREAT TIP SANDY~THX! Video Ideas~ More Polymer Clay Projects/Tutorials. Some of your Dragons maybe...🐉

+rebeccajns Good point, Rebecca. Also, if you make them from 1mm leather they are strong enough to hold, but I can break the cord if I pull hard enough. That's good to know for safety's sake. If you're looking for more polymer clay videos, I upload a new one every Wednesday. As far as the dragons go, I have future plans for dragon tuts, maybe not on KZread, though. I'll be sure to let everyone know!
