In this video, DIYNate shows two approaches for putting additional holes in his belt. He dropped some weight from intermittent fasting and regularly exercising and needed to tighten up his pants and belt. Both approaches involve measuring the correct distance, centering and marking for starters. Then, with the first method, he takes a hammer and nail and pounds a hole into the leather then lifts the belt along the nail hole. Next, he follows that using three drill bits (small, slightly larger, then a medium drill bit) to bore out the hole and get it to a good hole size. He then uses a razor / box cutter to trim off the excess leather remnants left behind from the drill bit.
The second method was actually his preferred method (but many people don't have a punch - see link above to order your own metal punch). This was simply taking the punch, and hammering it through the leather belt to create a nice hole. Some of the excess leather can be trimmed off using a box cutter / razor (optional).
Please share your thoughts in the comments, especially if you found either of these methods successful or you have other pointers for viewers.

Hey, just came here to find out how to make a new hole into my almost new leather belt because I lost some weight lately. My doctor prescribed me those inject pens (here its called Saxenda) and it'S usually for diabetics but work perfectly, because you are not hungry at all, I have to force myself into eating and I'm loosing weight like never before. Try to ask your doctor, in Czech republic it's pretty common now but since it's a drug you'll need a prescription. 100 % legal and under doctor's supervision. Good luck my friend.

I mean a punch is obviously the best method. It's likely what they use in the factory. But for somebody with a 10$ Walmart belt they like too much the drill is a perfectly fine way of doing it. Great work.

I can’t see the drilling cus of your hand but I suppose it ain't a mystery, hehe. Maybe just consider the angle of the camera next time, maybe moving the camera for that part. Good video overall! Your verbal explanation was very good 👍💕 and congrats on the weightloss!

It is holding up well a couple years later. I would opt for the punch method doing it again as the drill can be more messy, but when the drill is nearby and you are going for fast over pretty, I’d do it again in a pinch. Certainly not with a nice belt though. Thanks for the comment! - DIYNate

Not sure how well the drill would work without causing the leather to split with boots but I imagine a punch could create a hole pretty well. Good luck! - DIYNate
