Proper way to use a hole punch on heavy-duty Hanks Belts full grain extra thick belts.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
When punching holes in a Hanks Belt you need to use a sawing motion and not just squeeze due to the toughness of the hides we use in our belts. If you try to just squeeze through the leather you can bend the punch. Instead, squeeze, and saw at the same time. Watch the video for all the details!

Start at 1:15 for adjustments; easier than assumed!
The Jvedo hand press machine I use is more labor-saving and can install a round hole punch and a prong for the leather opening. Very convenient and efficient

Thanks for sharing. For sure if you are doing a lot of holes. If you just need an occasional hole the hand punch is much more affordable.
Thank you!

Whenever I use my hole puncher the belts seem to separate. Should I line the hole with glue after?

Hey Wanda, On department belts this may happen and a bit of glue may help. This is not an issue on our belts as we use real full grain leather on all of ours. Department store belts may delaminate though. Thanks!
This messed with my belt. Tried another hole without rotating amd went fine.
Where can you purchase the belt hole punchers? I looked on the Hank's Belts website and couldn't find them.

We do not sell the hole punches but you can usually find them at Walmart and craft stores.

@@HanksBelts ok, thanks. Just found a decent one on EBay.

Most of the hole punchers that are sold are too small and the jaws don't open large enough for the thick belts.
I came here to see Hank. Where the heck is Hank?!?
The link for the hole punches is coming up as page not found. Are you still selling them?

Hi Ryan, I am sorry we no longer sell the punches and they are working on updating the video. You can usually find the punches in Walmart or craft stores.

Can a leather punch cut a hole in a padded dog collar (.5" thick)?

It should handle it. You may have to rotate the punch while punching is all.
I don't have enough strength( I'm female) or what's the problem? I just can't make that damn hole 😑

Have you tried to rotate the tool side to side as you squeeze. This will usually cut through much easier than simply squeezing.
