I just spent a few weeks climbing through 500s in 3 minute blitz and reached 600s yesterday. You’d be surprised how many 500s can play like this. It’s just that they usually lose on time when they play accurately like that. Time control is the main issue for a lot of players in that rating pool.
I love these concepts of playing against different elos.

Definitely a really interesting and instructive video series! I love how Levy can create realtime analytical commentary whilst playing!
After being stuck at 320 for months i now, thanks to Levy, finally reached 360!
I used to not know anything about chess I was at a level where I had no idea what an opening was and by watching these videos after a little while I learned principals and how to actually play chess and I am currently making my way towards a thousand Elo. I just want to say thank you to Gotham for teaching me all these things.
The last game was like an anime where the stronger opponent respects the protagonist strength and starts to take the fight seriously
Simply stopping to blunder every second moves could probably do wonders for me
Love how Gotham is being a supportive teacher everyone loves in the school in this video
Nice video, I really like how you gave opportunities to the respective Elos. So much content on YT is high rated players pretty much obliterating low elos in speedruns, which is also instructive, it’s very nice to see equivalent-ish play while still explaining winning tactics, and how to recover after missing said tactic.
Please continue to make “The Secret to Chess” as a series, regular theme… Etc. The nature of high ELO positional imbalances and symmetrical beginner games with instructions for assessing them are super helpful!
Definitely love these series, I still rewatch the older "how to win at chess" series all the time. Always something to learn

More of this please. I loved the tactical and strategic tidbits. I had not ever seen "booting the rook" before, though I did know the strength of paired bishop and pawn. Cool beans.
I feel like sometimes playing someone drastically higher elo than you actually boosts your personal performance by removing any stress or anxiety. Its just like "Oh yea let's just play the game" and they can be confident in their moves knowing that there's no real consequences even if they lose.

Love watching the positivity, the great advices and all. Great video.
As an 800, I usually play King's Gambit on white, and Modern Defense of a left fianchetto with an "expanded" fianchetto on the right. I used to start symmetrically with both fianchettos, but could only win on time because it's a tough position for the opponent to break after castling. But they do break it. Always. Adding the assertive flank allows for attack opportunities later.
Dude, I love silly videos and laughing at insane games, but I think actually love nothing more than when people play a great game above their rank. And watching a goofy video turning into a teaching session is the best!
I feel like a lot was missed in the blitz format with the 500 and 1300, no real endgames due to time, felt like only half a lesson was possible. But the 1900 game was perfect in blitz! It felt like a complete game with thought processes for each phase. Loved it. Idk, I watched this and chess steps, and they made me want either more Win at Chess or longer low-elo games. I like the idea of hearing how one should think at each phase of the game given their elo, and what kind of thinking they could gradually outgrow.

I really like you videos about the difference between the rating. It shows me what i need to work on at my level. I don't think you need to show yourself playing the whole game. Just play a few games against the rating you want to show and then show the review on the video. When you play the game you don't comment on your moves that well because of the time, and also if you play a few games you can actually choose which game you want to show and make sure it's a good game and not a game like the 500 that plays like 1800 XD
