Nur, I'm so pleased you're talking about this. This has been a topic I've been discussing a lot recently with my creative group 'quiet creator' -- the seasonaility of life which we so often forget or ignore in our professional lives. I recently came back from vacation in early September and was reminded of the French concept of 'les vacances', where French cities empty for August and the nation collectively relaxes. And it's not just a holiday, it's seen as a sunlit "second New Year," a moment for self-reflection and recalibration. So come September, people return, reinvigorated and ready to infuse their lives with fresh ambitions and routines, as if the entire nation has collectively paused and are ready to go again. When I think about everything you mentioned in your video, the seasonailty of our work as creative directors/directors, it's clear how important it is that we act more like nature and less like machines, because we are not. Great video mate, thanks.

As a fellow commercial-director, I really appreciate this video. Thank you. Not many content creators here talk about work-life balance in the film industry. I’m thankful for you insights . I also wish you exponential growth! Your channel is definitely underrated.

Hey Nur! I'd LOVE to see a video on the concepting process of a commercial. Also about the communication with the client or agency.

Very informative, I never looked at it like that and I like how to describe the down time and work time. I've always had a problem with the balance as I can't find my self partially focused on film work, I'm either in or out. This helps with that were I can allow myself to indulge without going too far haha. Again lovely video, you seem very articulate. Beautiful wife and child btw, I wish you all well.

Your feedback means a lot to me! 🙏Yeah it was the same for me for so many years prior and I’ve only tried this approach about a year ago and it changed everything. I thought other people may wanna know about it too.

Great tips as usual. I forget that it's totally acceptable in our industry to choose to take a month or 2 off. I need to take advantage of this! January is already slow, and I have found myself naturally winding down. Reading more, watching movies, and hanging out with my wife. Might as well make it official! Love your philosophy on life Nur! And when you are winding back up for production, let me know if you ever need a dp in LA :)
