Den, you are exactly correct. I am teaching others guitar and have been doing for about 2 years. I am self taught and went through the steps you demonstrated. When I started teaching guitar to others and since I had struggled with what you demonstrated, I built foundational blocks as you demonstrated. I agree that rhythm is one of the first foundational blocks.

Same here hard to stay focused. I was in it hard for a year. Took lessons for 10 months. I figured I can do this. But it didn't happen..i pick it up and put it down several times. I'm 60 my nephew is 14 he plays music. I still noodle.. Maybe he had a better teacher. Maybe my attention span is just shorter.your guess is as good as mine.

@@LearningGuitarSecrets Unfortunately, I'm on the verge of giving up trying to learn this. I know the basic open chords, know the notes on the fretboard, can switch chords pretty fast; can execute few barre chords but having trouble executing major, minor pentatonic scale. Hit a "wall". I'm ready to turn in my guitar.
