congrats! did you push the pf`s thrust levers if he was under the glide or touch the controls if the localizer was lost as Patrik said? Because I thought if you are pm you should only advise once or twice with "altitude", if not reactive, say pitch up or down, if lost the glide under 1000 ( more than one dot) call a go-around.. take control only if the other guy is unsafe. prompting is good, but touching the controls and thrust while the other guy is flying... dunno what to say about that

Excellent. Love these informative theoretical technical videos, especially relating to flight deck etiquette, how crew interact and work together on the flight deck - CRM and MCC. Goes much deeper than just the technical aspects of piloting an airliner. Great team work, attitude, appreciation and respect. Positive attributes we can apply to most aspects of life.

You are really organized when you deliver a lecture. And, I can fully understand things you emphasize on. Keep the good work up! I will keep these things in mind in my future assessments. I fully practice the CRM methods of stress management and conflict resolution in my day to day flights. But its just that these things don't come out in a foreign environment especially when I am doing a sim assessment probably thats why I fail. It seems a long way to go to expertise these skills. Hey Petter! Great video, it's gonna help alot! I was requesting if you could do a simulator video descripting basic simulator assessment, for non type rated pilots. Detailed procedures and tips with regards to no AP, AT, FD Radial tracking, raw data ILS, go around then engine failure, engine failure with V1 cut( I know you have this one already) then a vnav lnav approach. A true one stop video for all NTR 737 assesments. There's a lot of assesments going on eg for flydubai and candidates are scrambling around looking for information! Would really help all of us alot and be a hallmark video for all future pilots! Thank you! Please let me know if you do post such a thing 🙏🙏🙏

omg ,thank you soo much for this video.I'm 17 years old and i don't know why i'm already stressing over this exam of the simulator assessments.I really love these type of videos of were you talk about how to pass these flight exams etc... How long are these flying exams? Will I fly with my instructor only or with others in the flight school? What's the link to the suitability test? (you forgot to tell it in one of your videos of "How to prepare fot flight training")

Sound advice and certainly sensible and commendable. Then there are those horrid operators that do not want you to help your colleague and instead mark you negatively! In situations where you are paired with a company Captain instead of another candidate, does citing type specific SOPs(if you have learnt them and know your way around the panels and flows) and know how to read nd call the FMA will that hurt you as boastful or be seen as having done your due diligence and therefore already on the learning curve that lies ahead for the type rating training if successful? What are your views on that? It might be that you had done the type rating course before but has long expired.

laurzuka its pretty simple. First just a chat with the intructor then you get to listen on some sound recordings and re-read them or answer questions from the recordings.

Hi Mentour! One question....what would you do as a candidate if during de sim assessment your collegue taking off forgets to call 100kt (or 80kt)? Would you as PF abort take off (pilot incapacitation) or call for examle 120kt? According to your advices, i think that the second option is the best one.

Hi, what you say at 9.15, that is better saying 'take a bit of thurst off' than using the callout 'glideslope'... mhh aren't we supposed to use the standard callouts? (which for this situation would be 'glideslope'...). So in your airline they want us to say the corrective action to take? Thank you!

What I want to do is train to become a fighter pilot and when my contract is over, I would like to transfer to airline passenger transport like you. I have read ALOT about this, going from military to commercial, I even think Mentour has mentioned it in one video. If youre joining the military just to become an commercial pilot youre wrong, you should not join the military just to become an commercial pilot, then you should go to a commercial flightschool instead.

Anthony 530 Aha ok, just saw that you have wrote more than i saw so i can answer some more of your questions :) Where do you get training after military?: I would suggest you google some on it, but i would asume that you just go to a flightschool like any other but youll probaly get it cheaper since you have some of the training already :) What plane does mentour fly?: Mentour Pilot is currently flying a Boeing 737

Have you taken geography as an option for GCSE's? If not, it really does help and looks really good in a CV, after GCSE's nothing more is really needed except that maintaining of your knowledge of geography

I wonder if there is data on the "help your colleague to get the job" thing? What I mean is, is it more likely for the sim-crew to either both get the job or both be rejected then the scenario where one is accepted and one not?

When applying for a flight school, does the flight school like having younger people apply like late teens or early twenties or do they prefer someone in their late twenties, early thirties who has had previous job(s) ?

Anyone can join a flight school be it a person of 17-18 years of age or late twenties or thirties. But experience does matter when it comes to applying for jobs. Many airlines prefer to take degree holders while some not.

Hi, Mentour what happens when both pilots are incapacitated ?

I fly a lot in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Tried Prepar3d, but it looks the same like FSX. I assume professional simulators are more complicated or not? Could I if pilots get incapacitated, in theory, land the aircraft with what I already know or the plane would just be shut down by F16?

Yes, you can try to land. The plane will definitely not get shot down.

Very interesting and informative, and a bit of the secret, I suspect, revealed. I suppose my 80 year old grandma could have flown the sim around the pattern - once. But a couple thousand times? And then even in situations where stress would render useless anyone who doesn't possess unique and professional skills and attitude? I think I'll continue to insist on professional pilots rather than grandma (though my grandma wouldn't have hesitated. “F...ed this one up, didn't I?”.

Good informative video, except where you talk about 'helping' as monitor at around 9:21. You're supposed to be monitoring them, not telling them what to do. Pilot flying takes the lead and if they're as qualified as you are, they should know how to correct slope, speed etc when you make the call. It's when they do NOT correct after you make the deviation calls do you question their intentions before you give them suggestions to correct - not how to fly it. When you start telling them what corrections to make, the pilot flying is no longer flying it - you are.

mentour....question-- do u suffer from jetlag ?if yes how do u overcome it??

i fucked up my sim assesment with irish mafia. because I hadn't had a preparatory session a few days before. it's better that way. but if you really want to give 40k to them, then I highly recommend you do a session before the assessment.

We do.

Except in the real world every airline seems to expect you to be type rated even though they know you are not. Three assessment in and in every case i was expected to know the ins and outs of the 737. Despite showing good crm not knowing how to switch from vor mode to app mode or the switches on the MCP panel or perhaps being 3% off the correct thrust in a visual circuit. It’s nonsense, £100,000 of debt to my mortgage provider and i just don’t understand how people get jobs. I appreciate the advice on your channel but this is all hypothetical and in reality every airline is completely different demanding different hoops to jumpy through and expecting an unreasonable amount of knowledge for people who have frozen ATPL’ s.
