@Parris Robinson I have a ‘go-to’ wig that made me receive alot of attention... at one point in time, I genuinely thought that with that wig, I’d reached the pinnacle/received the most attention I could ever receive...that was up until summer last year, I took my hair out from mini plaits (which revealed my tight curls/coils in a stretched state) and it was the first time in my life EVERY single MAN I walked past looked/stared at me. Whistles from builders ect... (Women would look too) I was shocked. I’ve always cared about my hair health and growth for myself, but i’d be lying if I didn’t say the large amount of external validation I had received last summer didn’t give me an additional boost. Even from East Asians (particularly when I put my hair in bunches) 😅 I was surprised as I genuinely didn’t think I was their cuppa ☕️😅

The part you said about how you don’t register the negative others might say because your relationship with yourself is so good, you phrased that perfectly! That’s exactly how it be.

I started slaying wigs 4rm KZread, I also started wearing make up 3 years ago and now I'm dat bi**h. Even my fashion sense and body positivity. KZread has low-key helped alot. This goes without saying Lucy Benson is a huge part of this journey.

Alot of this is VERY appearance focused and I don't think that this is healthy. Yes this can help however our confidence should not be based on our appearance because we will always fluctuate. It also can be based on likes and how good others way we look when we post photos, its immature and it will lead to deeper emotional issues because what if we don't receive the amounts of likes we were expecting? I think focusing on other aspects of ourselves that we like for e.g i was kind today, I was generous, im very smart (along with appearance) is better as these will continue even if you age or God forbid get into an accident or get sick. Developing more kindness, more generosity and also showing self compassion to ourselves is very important.
