You left out a very important detail... when doing rear brakes, you must to put the vehicle in maintenance mode.

Maintenance mode is only necessary for the electronic parking brake, not the manual one.

Ok so I don’t need to put it into maintenance mode for changing the rear brake pads? I changed them didn’t have any problems changing the rear pads but my wife is saying she’s hearing a whining noise from the rear on and off when she uses the brakes.

Did you fully push the pistons back into the caliper? Could also be the brake hardware scraping on something if it wasn't properly engaged onto the brake pad. Maintenance mode is for the electronic parking brake models, if you have a traditional brake, you should be fine.@@garyharlan7999

@@speedygarage264You need to emphasize that in the video and in the title. It was made in 2023 when CX-5s have had electronic parking brakes for many years.

Make sure you block the front wheels! If you notice the dude's car is rolling forward when jacking his rig back off the jack stands.

Good call - I did have the chocked off, I just removed the chocks before lowering. Should've shown it though, you're right!

Good video. I've always opened the brake line bleeder in order to move the piston in, then topped off the fluid once everything's back in place. Seems like you opened the bleeder a bit. Any reason why this wasn't mentioned, or am I missing something? Note, this is also the first time I've had a car where I have to rotate the pistons.

Just did my brakes today one twisted back in no problem, but the other side I had to drain a bit of brake fluid. Annoying but it works... Also don't forget to put the car in service mode

Ive been turning the piston with no result, not sure what to do.

Mazda cx5 2015, thanks i was.really frustrated not knowing the piston screwwed in to retract. Just used small vice grip to turn it. Thanks, where do i send a gratuity, lol google was 5$ just to ask.
