How To 180 On A Mountain Bike
Спорт
This is a full breakdown of how to 180 a mountain bike, something that will help you on the trail when you need to quickly change directions, readjust your rear wheel placement, and ride tight switchbacks.
This skill plays in to so many other elements of your mountain bike riding, and will help you overall with your rear wheel movement and bike handling ability. Having confidence to move that rear wheel where you want it to go will be a huge factor when it comes to holding lines on technical trails, and this entire technique is easy to practice anywhere.
I mentioned this briefly in my Parking Lot Tricks video, and this video is a complete rundown of every nuance and detail that you can work on to totally master this skill.
Don't sweat it if you can't immediately do the 180 rotation, either - most of the time you'll only need a small rotation - but as you practice, you'll slowly get the back wheel further and further around.
Check out my Parking Lot Tricks video if you haven't already, and see the other four techniques I recommend: • What To Practice On Yo...

Try doing a nose 180 to fakie with an (ET) pedal in the middle. Or even harder is a chainsaw (backwards pedal) in the middle. It’s tricky.
The most valuable 180 endo tutorial I've seen....Full respect you for posting for everyone's knowledge. Im a 50 YO and managed to do a 90 Endo after trying for about 6 months or so. After your tutorial, thanks to all the tips you've given..... I did the rest of the 90, in 2 days..... Now I can do 180 Endo effortless all thanks to your guidance. Thanks again!!!!

Awesome - glad to hear you’re making progress with it! 🙌
That was definitely helpful, pity about the chain snap though, those logs look like fun.

Hadn't had a chain snap in a while - I was more surprised than anything!
I would like to understand two things: 1) do you activate the front brake after steering? So do you steer and brake? 2) do you start the movement to raise the rear wheel before steering?
Easier to understand now I need to go practice 😬 thanks for sharing 🍻👊🏻

Ricky Bobby - "I don't know what to do with my hands" @lutzetime - "one finger on each brake, the rest on the bars" These points are one of the reasons these are legendary tutorials, you and the rest of the trials gang consistently making it so that the rest of us aren't left guessing the important stuff! Also for anyone else who's not sure about the twitch stream, it's a LOT of fun and @lutzetime answers questions like this all the time, come and hang out!

I can remember self teaching myself undos when I was 12 on my steel frames GT outpost. I used speed…..I bent the mech hanger and my face. Trial n error.

Great tutorial! Does it matter which foot is forwards (ie dominant or not)? Also I feel way more comfortable pivoting clockwise vs. CCW, is that typical to have a stronger direction?
@SuperRiderTV
2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend dominant foot forward, that’s typically when you have the best balance and control. You’ll also have a dominant direction based off of which foot forward you’re riding with - but with practice you’ll be able to go either way without any issue!
I can do endo 180s now and mostly finish them with a 180 fakie on the ground. The more spin in the endo 180 the more it likes to fakie 180 out, so the momentum really caries over, but I'm also working on endos to get positioning without carrying over rotational momentum and this tutorial really came in handy with that - so thanks! Two questions: How do people endo 360? it looks like at two part with some kind of wind-up to get the second 180, but I don't understand this. What's that move called where you endo 180 off a drop and then hop an additional 180 off the front wheel to make the drop? - I want to find a tutorial for it but curious as to how you'd work your way up to it, I'm guessing endo a small rotation over a curve and practice hopping a little more rotation off the front wheel.

Awesome! There is a tutorial on this channel for that 360 drop, it’s a bit older but should still be useful!

Should I ever use either of my wheels breaks whilest trying to properly do the scoop?
@SuperRiderTV

I wouldn’t use brakes to start, that way you learn to get the most out of the pedal/scoop movement. If you grab a brake, it can mask what is actually happening. Better to learn without and then add in for the next step.
Hei mate can you help me choose between Rockrider st 900 or Cube Analog 2020. And why?
@SuperRiderTV
3 жыл бұрын
I'd go for the Cube - it looks like the components are a bit better, and the bike seems ready to go right out of the gate. I saw a review that the geometry on the Rockrider was a bit steep and twitchy, so you'll probably get the best experience overall on the Cube. Hope that helps!

And what other recommendations would you have in the price of 600€-700€?
@SuperRiderTV
3 жыл бұрын
I think the Cube is a safe bet - the great thing right now is that most bike/component companies have things pretty dialed in with their geometry and spec, so they’re all safe bets. It almost comes down to which brand and look you prefer - as the bikes themselves are all really good quality.
