    For anyone on the fence, this works on a 2004 Tacoma. Disclaimer: I haven’t swapped the electronic flasher yet, but will soon. Either way, it’s street legal. 👍🏼 Update: The electronic flasher used in the video works. I opted to install LED bulbs for extra brightness and have no hyperflash. Of note, with the LED’s, I have to drive with my headlights or parking lights on at all times-otherwise the corner lights don’t blink. This is likely due to the lack of load from switching to LED’s, but if you stick with stock bulbs, you should be fine.

    Hey so I just did this mod as you described. I splice the blinker power (green) into the parking lamp ground (white black). It blew the factory 10A turn signal fuse but worked fine with a 15A. The blinkers work fine when the parking lights are on but hardly illuminate at all when the parking lights are turned off. Also the entire dash flashes when the blinkers are on and the coolant temp gauge and tach needle wag with the blinker. Will the E12 flasher eliminate any of this? It is coming in the mail in a couple days. Thanks!

    @snailtrail4x4 mod was a little different in an 86. The flasher is located on the fuse panel, located behind the driver side kick panel. The EL12 wouldn't just plug in so I had to run some jumper leads to it. Bonus, the EL12 works with LED 194 bulbs. Just and play. No need for separate resistors.

    FYI, this sorta worked with LED bulbs. So it worked just fine testing it. It wasn't until I went to turn on the headlights that I noticed the blinkers weren't work. Swapped them out for standard bulbs and everything works great. For some reason with the headlights on there wasn't enough resistance to make the flasher work. So keep the incandescent bulbs on this one. Well if you plan to drive at night anyway.

    I did something similar without cutting the wires when I got my Relentless bumper for my 01 Taco but I didnt cut any wires or install a new flasher. • @SnailTrail4x4

    @SnailTrail4x4

    3 жыл бұрын

    That's cool and good to know. When doing this mod you are cutting the blinker wiring and this causes the blinker acts like it has a burnt out bulb and flashes quickly. The 2 prong relay forces the flashing pattern to be normal speed.

    could you just cut both marker wires and splice in the blinker wires? essentially relocating blinker to marker spot without having to modify bulb housings? Edit: splicing the blinkers into corner lights worked. just had to cap off the running light wires and tuck em away. because the bulbs are smaller it did have a hyper blink so I replaced the factory flasher with one for LEDs. part number is EP35 from AutoZone if anybody needs it. for first generation Taco. @@likits1999 yes the 921 is a bigger bulb but he’s making the side markers as his main front signals so would be brighter and more noticeable. The way the bulb is positioned, it should fit the bezel/housing. Also, since it’s LEDs, iit will have an operating temp less than a regular 192 so no worries on melting the lens using a 921 LED

    So basically combine the blinker wire to the ground of the parking light. And leave the power wire of the parking light intact? Do you also have to disconnect the ground of the parking light or combine with blinker wire?

    You can do that also, it would work. You install the relay because you disconnected the blinker. Because we cut the lines to the blinker it always thinks there is a open circuit "burnt bulb". It does the fast blinking blinker effect in the cab. The relay makes it have a DOT approved blinking pattern.
