The Balon dor recently is not an award for best player anymore. Its kindof like most influential, so captaining a team like Croatia all the way to the final is almost equivalent to getting Argentina the Copa. Modric also won the UCL that year. Is this just me or does Messi vs Lewa this kinda look like Ribbery vs Ronaldo in 2013. Imo Lewa(2021 version) and Ronlado(2013 version) are more or less on par with one another and same with Messi(2021 version) and Ribbery(2013 version)(although Ribbery's defensive ability was obviously far better, Messi's increased creative and goal scoring output than him easily makes up for it). One was a clinical scorer and was undoubtedly untouchable in that regard, the other did so much all over the pitch that it's more than made up for the difference in shooting ability. I'm kinda surprised how undefended Lionel is here compared to Ribbery.

Maybe he didnt score as many goals cmparatively but he was intrumental and has become an even more complete player than ever before. After that amazing performance in the international stage this year, him winning the Ballon d'Or is a pretty obvious decision.

I personally would like to see a video where there is a comparison of what Messi and Lewandowski did last season. Every goal, every assist, record, personal rewards, team awards, especially the international side of things. Then every fan can see all the facts for true, then we can decide who deserved it for real.

Messi, very well deserved winner in my mind. He was simply a few steps ahead of everyone else this year, albeit slow start to the season with PSG.

If the Ballon D’or was a truly individual award, then Messi would deserve to win it every year. There’s no individual anywhere who can do what Messi does every week. Sometimes I wish football was like MMA where you are left one-on-one against each other. Only then would these biases have been shut down forever.

Bayern will certainly finish in the Top 3.....but they will certainly not be Number 1 for 9 years in a row like in Bundesliga.......... If you take a look at the Old Barca & Madrid.......Bayern wouldn't even stand a chance to be Number 1 in La Liga for atleast 3 years in a row.......The old Barca and Madrid were European giants.....no team was close to them

For me it was always between Messi and Lewandoski to win it this year. People say that it is always about the player that wins most awards or the player who scores the most goals. But in reality if u think about it Benzema had been one o the best players this season but only one Uefa Nations League with France and nothing with Real Madrid. Jorginho won Euro 2021 and the Champions League but wasn’t the one that made the difference in all the games. U can argue that Robert deserved the ballon d’or but like Jamie said, he should’ve gotten one for 2020. This year Messi has broken so many records at age 34 and the trophy the he desperately needed for his country. He was the best player, goal scorer, and playmaker in Copa America. I think Messi does deserve Ballon D’or. If Lewa would’ve won it I would’ve also been happy for him because he does deserve one but Messi does deserve this one
