    I work in the Yachting industry and believe me when i say owning a yacht is not for the shallow of pocket, that is why millionaires charter super yachts and multi millionaire and billionaires own super yachts.

    @cinemantics231

    That's interesting. Can you elaborate why that is? I believe most 50-80 footers are in the 2-7 million dollar range. Something most millionaires could afford. I always thought of a yacht as a property investment, like buying a home that floats. I am guessing there are fuel and maintenance costs, but I guess solar powered yachts solve those issues.

    Operating costs like fuel and staff are huge and you also have to pay for a place to leave the thing when you aren't using it. A super yachts mooring fees can be easily 100s of thousands a year if not over a million depending on the port.

    I used to work in the yachting industry and can agree with all of this information. I was able to go to many of these places on the yacht as a stewardess. Ours was a privately owned sailing yacht. Our billionaire owners, didnt charter out this yacht, they also had many other yachts and a small fleet of jets. They were actually a nice old couple. One day they came back onto the yacht after lunch and casually informed us they'd just had lunch with Mariah Carey in Antibes. As a girl from a small town in Australia, i couldnt believe how some people live.

    I once saw this image that said that if someone lived for 80 years & earned an average of $5,000.00 every day of their life, they still wouldn't be a billionaire, but rather have about $150,000,000.00. At the bottom of the image was a line that said that no one works to become a billionaire. So yeah, we should be taxing multi-millionaire & billionaire individuals & corporations in this country more then we currently are! And if you want to argue that taxes shouldn't be raised on the wealthy & corporations, how can you defend them when they send their U.S. dollars to other countries so they can't be taxed & help fund domestic programs to help poor people here in the U.S.?

    I generally agree. Problem is billionaires can move with ease. The second they start getting taxed they pack their shit and move. Cali is dealing with that atm.

    The prospect of generating seemilngly limitless amounts of wealth motivates people to become entrepreneurs, invent and innovate. Governments know this, especially when it comes to tech and techs necessity for a nation to be globally competitive. If you tax billionaires up the ass, there’s a sense of unfairness and futility that develops. You end up disincentivizing the very people that are creating the products that modernize and progress the world. Taxing is a tricky balancing act that you have to get just right. But my question to you is, what is the amount you think is fair to tax the very rich. 50%? 60%? 70%? The higher you go it seems the more you move towards a socialist economy.

    When the government doesn't like something, or they want to change habits, they tax it. Cigarette tax, liquor tax, gas/road tax. Basically an income tax is to discourage wealth. You're just advocating taking money that you want, away from someone else, because they have it.

    I don't think you can take a private jet into St. Barts more than once - runway length is 646 m or 2119 ft. Military jets, e.g. Saab Viggen, are a different matter, as are STOL turboprop planes. Bear in mind it's warm - low air density, not helpful. If you fly less than 100 hours per year, renting a jet rather than owning one is the best option. Ownership comes with headaches, no matter how rich you are. It is a nice way to spend a fortune, though. An entry level drug would be a helicopter ride from Nice to Monaco or Dubai airport to Burj al Arab, it's surprisingly affordable even for submillionaires and like a (noisy) dream. Worth it.

    After watching this, I think I'll decline to purchase a private jet. Not just because my net worth wouldn't put gas in the jet, but because it seems like a hassle and overreaching expense. That being said, if I started a company and took it public; I'd probably have to have the company buy a jet for all the traveling I'd have to do.

    What's the deal with helicopters? They are also very important for billionaires to avoid traffic and get ashore from a yacht. They are also better than jets for ranges of about 1,000km.

    There is an awesome video tour of motor yacht Ace, here on KZread. 285', for sale $160 million. Estimated cost of operation, $15 million a year. It used to charter for $1 million a week, plus expenses. Doubtful one would stay on it more than a week or 2 at a time, maybe 2-3 times a year. Unless a person is worth $1 billion+, making $50-$100 million a year just on investment returns, super yachts aren't worth it. Planes on the other hand can make/save money Chartering a plane, like a large cabin G450 is about $12,000 an hour At about 200 hours is the approximate break even point of charter vs ownership. If you take 200 hours x $12,000= $2.4 million So, a very wealthy person making well over $2.5 million a year could offset his time vs plane cost. Just figure getting to the airport 2 hours early for check in, security getting to the gate and boarding. Then there is taxiing and airport delays. Once landed, there is taxiing to gate, disembarking, getting to baggage claim, and waiting for your bag. Figure close to 3 hours lost per flight, compared to flying private, where you can be wheels up 10 minutes after leaving your car and 5 minutes back in a car after touching down. Flying into smaller airports means less time hung up in air traffic. Plus bigger private planes usually cruise at faster speeds than airliners. All saving half to a full hour on a airline flight of 2 to 2-1/2 hours. For very wealthy people, time is money. There is also more comfort = less stress.

    At this moment, it is crucial for individuals to prioritize investing in alternative streams of income that are not reliant on the government, particularly with the existing worldwide economic crisis. Investing in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies can still be profitable during this period. Therefore, it is advisable to explore these investment options to secure one's financial future.

    Yes and that's unfortunately inaccurate. Banks MAKE money. Governments don't. There are people in the bank called "originators" who can create loans that create business capital that trickles down to service providers and employees and that creates savings. So money is created from business plans not from savings. Fractional banking is already outdated. There's no 10x rule anymore. Here in Japan the loan to savings ratio is at least 34x already. In Europe it's like 20x. The only thing governments can do is create and retract banking licenses and set liquidity ratios.
