Monaco is the richest country in the entire world. A micro-state that sits right on the coast of the French Riviera that is roughly 4km long and just half a km wide. A country that is so rich that 1/3 of its entire population are millionaires. This is a closer look inside of Monaco.

@Khalilah D Yes the country is very small and beautiful. What you see in the video is what what you get.You can visit the entire country in one day. I spent entire week in Monte Carlo.
I was in Monaco two days ago. All buses were free for the month. I found the locals very helpful when directions were needed. Anyone visiting Monaco must see the changing of the guard at the palace, at 11.55am daily.

Epic video!!!!!
Few corrections if I may. First, you do not need to own property in order to live here. You do need EUR 500k in a local bank, and either provide a rental agreement (rent is paid 3 months in advance, plus 3 months security deposit with a 35sqm studio setting you back about EUR 2k a month, plus utilities) or you do indeed purchase a place. Most places are fairly old, but if you like 70s chic, then you are in the right place. There are a number of new developments, though they have pushed up the prices for both rent and purchase. Restaurants here are so so. Of course there are some good places around here, but a lot just get away with serving ok food for a ridiculous pricetag - mainly because a lot of people will just pay the price without asking. There are however decent places like Trinity where you stopped. Trinity's cocktail bar right opposite also serves some decent food, though if you go to places like San Remo (where we sometimes go to escape Monaco) you will find more consistency in food quality and much better value for money. From a traffic perspective, summer is really the worst, with tourists and car spotters without any regard for their or other people's lives just walk (or run) nto the middle of the road just to take a picture.

So cool to see a video about Monaco! I just got back from the French Riviera and was lucky enough to spend 4 nights in Monte-Carlo. It's a very clean, safe, and "otherworldly" place, with luxury and beauty everywhere you turn. It's not for everyone, but it sure is unique. I was pleasantly surprised by the food prices not being as high as I'd imagined and the very warm and kind service workers. They were already working on setting up for the Grand Prix, which one day I hope to go back for!
Monaco is a beautiful place! I was there in 1971 and fell in love with the beauty of the surroundings and the ocean.
As a Monegasque, I am really happy to see someone not telling bad things about my country. Of course it’s expensive, but keep in mind that « average » people (just like me) also live here

I was just in Monaco 2 months ago. I've been many times. Truth is, it has an aging population, poor service and average to below average restaurants. It certainly is not what it is cracked up to be. I say this as one who can afford to try the best Monaco has to offer. It's well marketed but just an ok city.

Just came back and going back for f1 but I can totally relate. Also it's "in vogue" to forget about prices in the touristy and just most expensive clubs/restaurants which in reality :) and to be blasé about it. or a total show off. I did not feel too much joy and youth energy. And hey, so many people are just here in front of the hotel to take a picture or pay for a drink and leave.

Great work, thanks.
Here are a few more facts about Monaco you may like. Prince Albert is the ruler of Monaco which is a principality. He is half American. His mom was the late American Oscar winning actress Grace Kelly. The people of Monaco believe that Monaco has remained a great country because of the prince. There are approx 39,000 people living in Monaco. Only about 9,000 were born there. They are called Monagasque's. The prince makes sure that his people get benefits that help them live their daily lives well, like offering rent subsidies and preferential employment treatment No one lives below the poverty level in Monaco and there is no slum area in Monaco. The jail has 35 cells and the inmates of which there are very few, receive some of the best food. It is thought if you feed them well they will behave better. They do. Monaco is the safest city in the world. There is one cop for every 70 people. There hasn't been a murder in decades. Every car that enters the country has its license plate taken down bc they want to know who is coming into their country. The safety of the people is paramount. The cops can stop you any time they like and they don't need a reason. That was something a rich American learned when he was pulled over and started the I am special BS and the cop told him to essentially get over himself and realize he's in Monaco not America and if he doesn't watch his smart mouth he will cool his heels in a cell over night. The American was smart enough to shut his mouth after that. If you make excessive noise with your super expensive sports car ( or any car) you will be ticketed. ( if your rich who cares) However, if you are pulled over for a second time for the same offense, your car will be impounded( taken away).I don't know for how long but I would imagine probably overnight at least. There are also no paparazzi allowed in Monaco. Apparently there are also a LOT of very high class hookers. Monaco has 5 gardens around the country and they are stunningly beautiful each in their own way. It is a country that encourages you to walk around bc of its truly beautiful architecture but also bc of its parks and harbors. It has a ballet company, a symphony, an opera house and the Prince Albert forum. It is in the middle of a $2 billion dollar land expansion into the mediterranean. It started in 2020 and is expected to be finished in 2025. Apparently as of 2022 all the 1000 apartments etc had been sold except 3. They were bought based on the blueprints. The entire project was privately funded which means the government of Monaco is NOT paying for it. You can see this project on a YT video. It also has an amazing Aquatic museum with 5000 specimens. It is a very unique country. : ). Thank you for your video Brett. P.S., I almost forgot. The most expensive apartment in the world is in Monaco. The building is called the Odeon (it is blue in color) and the 5 top stories of the building is one apartment which was selling for $ 387 MILLION Dollars. However they recently dropped the price by $32Million so you can buy it for the bargain price of $ 355 million dollars. : )

@@hainavidotcom- There is a video on YT, sharing what has to be done to become a resident. They also offer to help you go through the process. You can NOT have a criminal record. It would be advantageous for you to speak French bc there are interviews and meetings you are going to have to go through along with a lot of paperwork. You will be required to open a bank account in Monaco and deposit $500,000 dollars. They ask for that high amount to make sure you can afford to live there bc it is an expensive country to live in. I wish you a happy retirement. I'm enjoying my retirement. : )

@@mirandamanga9083- The tax haven "thing" is very true. Can you imagine getting a paycheck that does NOT have income tax taken off ? The rich don't pay tax on profits they make and there is no inheritance tax and a couple of other tax benefits that I can't recall. However, everyone pays a tax on everything they buy. I'm not sure but I think it is 20%.

You can enjoy La Palma in the Canaries islands and Malta too. They are great hike and have awesome views too.
Most of Casino Royale was filmed in the Czech Republic and the most "iconic" casino/hotel scenes were set in Montenegro, not Monte Carlo. Some older Bond films such as Golden Eye were the one's set in Monte Carlo- hence the instant correlation between Bond and Monaco. Just fact checking!

First of all, I am at best middle income person! I have been very lucky to have visited Monaco for work like 25 times. In 2012, I lived in Cap D’Ail for 3 months, using it as a base to tour around Europe! Cap D’Ail is one stop on train from Monaco but parts are across the street from Monaco. I lived near the train stop right on the Sea with THE BEST view ever! There is a walk way along the sea between Cap D’Ail and Monaco! The land where the stadium and your McDonald’s was situated is Fontveille and it is all reclaimed land that was once the sea until they filled it in the early 1980’s. An expensive project but with land so expensive there, it was a smart ROI! Now they are reclaiming some land on the other side of Monaco. Underneath that McDonald’s is a huge grocery store called Carrefour. All Carrefours in France have to charge the same prices, so great place to shop! They also have two check out lines for yachts only, then they deliver to the yachts. Also lots of to door deliveries there! Parking for all those high rise condos are underground and buried in the mountain! Finally, I had a two year stint in Southern California for work and rented a one bedroom apartment. It was cheaper to live in Monaco/Cap D’Ail then to rent my one bedroom in California!!! My best vacation by far!
@Mazeboxx
Жыл бұрын
Well, Cap d'Ail as you already said isn't Monaco, so of course it would have been cheaper than California. rental price for a 35sqm studio in Monaco gets you a 2bdrm in Cap d'Ail, Beausoleil (incl. Pool and Gym) or parts of Roquebrune. And while there is a price cap for Carrefours in France - Monaco is NOT France, so you will find that products actually do carry a premium, albeit not always noticeable.
Good luck bro👍✌
Thanks so much
Es un paraíso, diseños espectaculares

They have a stunning Aquarium (Musée océanographique) there. Not sure if you had a chance to see it 🌸🌸🌸

Bruv what kind of shoes are you wearing during the hike - those white joints are 🔥
Monaco is not as expensive as people claim it is. We stayed at the Ambassador Monaco for 4 nights and it cost about $600 (USD) total including breakfast. Food isn’t extremely expensive. Now if you’re going to the casinos or are there for F1 then you’re going to have a huge bill!
