This was a fun episode. I wish they'd do an episode on the rise of "Buy Nothing" groups. What they think of the movement? IF they belong to one? Best item they've ever received? Personally, I love hand-me-downs, so I love my local group. I don't think I spent more than $100 on my kid during his first 4 years of life because people gave me everything - clothes, furniture, toys, shoes, etc. Today, I live in a blue collar town w/out a lot of resources and I'm still amazed at the generosity of my neighbors. It's also been fun to discover new neighborhoods, just as I pick up or deliver things to folks. I'd love to know what Rachel + George think about "Buy Nothing" movement.

I have never gotten the allure of delivery. I mean it is at a huge mark up with the fee and you have to microwave it to be hot. Why pay extra for that. Just make a Sandwhich or have some cereal if you do not feel like cooking. I can not believe that people spend more than 20 bucks a day to have Luke warm crap delivered for lunch instead of packing a stupid lunch.

One thing I want to make sure people understand; just because two different brands come from the same company, does not mean they are the same product or quality! It felt like the ghost kitchen conversation set the tone that "it's all coming from the same factory" and several times throughout this podcast, it was implied that there would be no reason to go for the more expensive brand because they all come from the same company. That's simply not the case. One manufacturer will use different brand names to differentiate their products because they are indeed so different.

I came here to say this. A large company may own many brands, but most brands under them still operate independently from each other. They just send their profit to the same umbrella company.

As an old professional cook, I thought the food portion of this would be about frozen food versus store made. I see certain foods in many different places that I know are made by one company in a plant and sold frozen in many restaurants, hotels, institutions , even cruise ships and overnight trains that serve food. I've seen rolls, "grilled" chicken strips, and chicken breast, danish, sandwich ribs, etc.. and just kind of laugh to myself because I know they just took this out of the freezer and heated it up! I no longer tell my extended family, I was told by one of them that I ruined their experience! My poor husband has to hear me vent!

I am allergic to most soaps, body washes, and deodorants/antiperspirants. Instead of soap, I use shampoo, which has a different PH and is a little better, but not great. At least I just have dry skin and not a huge itchy rash. Instead of deodorant I have always just added a little Zinc to my water or taken a Zinc tablet. Less sweat less bacteria and no body odor. By the way, I live in Atlanta where the summers are HOT and MUGGY, and I am fine every day. I do wash my armpits every morning just because it isn't going to last a full two days, but I have zero BO all day and a good part of the next day. By the end of day 2, I definitely need a shower, so if I don't take a shower the second day in the morning I will wash my underarms. I am looking into starting to make my own body wash and hand soap, that isn't as harsh. At least as an adult, I don't have to buy prescription soaps anymore.

First off aum doesn’t mean they own this assets. Second comparing gdp at aum is so dumb because they measure completely different things. It would be equivalent of saying my cash flow (income minus expenses) is $20k a year and I had a savings account that already had $10k and be like “my savings account accounted for 50% of my cash flow” which is dumb

I know how much George hates MLM and thinks they're all a scam. BUT - I buy my household products, skin care, makeup and some food and health products from an MLM I've been involved with for 34 years. I love their products, they're simply the best. They do their own manufacturing and R&D. They have no debt and own several million square feet of manufacturing plant and offices. They do business in over 50 countries around the world. They aren't part of the corporate domination of what we buy in stores. Their manufacturing plant has a pharmaceutical rating which means their have a much higher standard for cleanliness in making their products. I use the products because the quality is very high and they don't compromise their standards. My line item for this company is a significant dollar amount, but it's worth it.

Explain this to me. I've been eating a particular brand of gluten free pasta since shortly after my celiac diagnosis. I mostly bought it from the commissary on base. Occasionally, when they were out at the commissary, I'd buy them from Publix. Recently I've started shopping more at Walmart, and guess what? They had my GF noodles. And at a cheaper price! Pretty sweet, right? Except when I made them, they tasted different, not in a good way. I've read that Walmart pressures companies to keep prices low for their customers. I've noticed that a Coleman tent from Walmart is not the same quality as a Coleman tent from REI. What gives!? Are companies producing lower quality goods at cheaper prices for sale at discount stores like Walmart?

I do doordash for extra money and I went to a green turtle to pick up a Noah Schnap chicken order...turns out it was next door at the IHOP but trying to explain to the staff at Green Turtle that I was not insane, I knew I was at Green Turtle and all I was trying to do was get chicken from the kid on Stranger Things... Can't understand how they didn't get it 😂😂😂
