Companies have a shortage of good drivers the key word is GOOD. Trucking is McDonald's with a steering wheel. Companies are trying to keep profits up and over head down. That's why this industry is full of steering wheel holders and not professional drivers.

Yes they are scamming big time. The schools spitting out the students are in on the take as well. People are running to these schools and being lied to. The rookies go to these ain't about shit companies. Refurbished trucks, worthless mechanics and low mileage page because they think u don't know better. Some of the driver trainers are worthless too. The companies are making triple off the top and giving u crumbs. By the time u get it (pay) it's just enough to keep u. Unless u wake up and fight back. Overall it's to keep u from your families and destroy your health. ITS THE MONEY! They're not paying u what u are worth. So do something about it and make the right move while u still can. Your youth is worth everything. Notice the ones working in the office. Sitting on their asses and gaining weight. Because some sit behind a computer. Some have husband's or wives that help maintain their life style. They're able to go home while you're stuck on the road guarding/maintaining their loads. Getting paid decent pay but it could be more. Yes, the drivers are getting screwed. By the time u wake up it's too late! The OWNER WINS like the casinos in Vegas (House Always Wins).

Then they'll pay you on the shortest route possible so you can lose 30 to 80mi easily. I had one company that paid me on all backroads out of TX to IN and it was like 150mi shorter lol they are dirty!! Generally you can lose like 150mi overall for the week. They know what they are doing and tweak it just right to not jack you out of too many miles. But if you have 3,000 to 10,000 trucks that 150mi less per driver is huge for a trucking company.

Swift Walmart account sucks if you work out of Temple, Texas as a lease driver. Normally lease will pay you a dollar a mile or more, somewhere up to two dollars or more in some companies. But they only pay $.85 per mile which is messed up. They said they were gonna pay that, or they let Walmart force them into paying the lease drivers that little.

I was with Swift last year for two months. I only worked a total of six weeks. My first week they only had one load and it went 200 miles. And my last week I sat for 96 hours waiting on a load. And the other four weeks? I only made about 600 bucks. As a company car. Doing Regional refrigerated. They didn’t seem like an awful company, but I definitely felt like a number and when they told me they had regional guys making $3000 a week I couldn’t help but laugh. They wanted me to stay but I never made enough to even bother trying to. They’re very much a new driver company. They can bring in 2 to 3000 drivers a week from just training. And maybe if only 500 stay for six months they still have made a profit. It’s a terrible business strategy for long term but it works great for keeping the market. Pretty shitty.

They go by map miles not actual miles most drivers lose at least 100 to 150 miles per load and that is how trucking companies steal money from drivers. They do not pay when your truck is waiting to unload or load your truck with wait time and if you are stuck waiting for a load over the weekend. This needs to be addressed and charged against the companies as fraud or taken to the labor board for money owed to the driver!!!

It's called house hold movers miles. Most carriers pay from zip code to zip code. It's industry wide not just swift. The best thing you new drivers can do is find a carrier that pays percentage or hourly. I have been driving for 22 years and I can tell you find a shipper/ receiver that hauls it's own freight. Or get your license loaded meaning all endorsements . The more you can do the better the money is. Use swift like they use you, get educated get your wheel time and bounce. Mega carriers work off of numbers not people.

I don't like swift, but retread can be legit. Some tires are made for that. The thing that should make you comfortable is when there's an extra layer glued on. There's some that are made to be cut deeper, but IMO that's sketchy. Especially when 90% aren't made to be cut deeper. The ones that are have regual + tread depth thick in the base layer.

Man it's vital for new drivers period to research and ask other drivers who to drive for. Some LTL companies like OD , SE, UPS pay on average 1300 per week and have weekends off. I work out at FedEx Ground for a company and I was hired and given a dedicated route back and forth to South Carolina each night and My first check was 1100 dollars 💵 net pay for just 4 days of work. The Truth is all of these trucking companies are looking to take a little bit here and there from their drivers. I mean the railroad BNSF is now laying off it's people, and Yellow Freight is out of business. Keep GOD first because it may get worse before it gets better.

Human key strokes in computer. O/O division never got paid full milage and fuel surcharges. One week paid milage only then another week fuel mileage. Simply keep you in debt received bare minimum. Truck in shop never received money down time. Loss money maintenance account. Insurance policy canceled behind my back several times. Create Carrier goid company.

Swift is cool…. If no one likes the account they’re on or lane they run you can always call placement to see what’s open because there’s plenty to do. Stop waiting for someone to baby you and guide you. Trucking is made for you to maximize your earnings and set up for entrepreneurship…. This ain’t no regular job. For the guy that refuse to drive because of outdated paperwork, all he had to do was call and her it sent to his email, use the app, or have anyone at the terminal print it out.

Trucking is a cartel. No matter where you go. These mega carriers are the same. As in any business, they are in it for profit. Driver pay is an expense and will cut into that profit. They recruit with rosy promises. Once you are in, you are a number - never as a person. Bouncing around these mega carriers, hoping for the best, actually hurts your driving record. Go into trucking only if your other option is starvation. If you still can, go learn a trade. For someone like myself, who is outside the "hiring age bracket," trucking is a means to survive.
