How strong was Superstar Billy Graham?

Спорт

Today we go far back, pre the Golden Era of wrestling, with one of the pioneers who started it all. Superstar Billy Graham. Way ahead of his time, he took few pages from Bodybuilding and Muhammed Ali and changed the landscape of Professional Wrestling.

@@howstrongis : I don't exactly know what year it was, though I read that Superstar Billy Graham bench pressed 605 lbs in a back issue of "Inside Wrestlin" from April 1972 that did a cover shoot on him; this was when he wrestled for Mike LeBelle's AWA. The cover had him in the ring wearing a big American Flag on, it was definetly ground -breaking for the time. Check it out.

Unfortunately I discovered pro wrestling about 6 months into Bob Backlunds title run. So the Billy Graham I saw was the karate gimmick 🤮. Later the WCW run and of course his hip breaking return to WWF. I bought the wwe documentary on him it’s really good. I’ve always been a big fan but it’s funny how I started with his not so great stuff and worked backwards.😮

Not saying he didn’t make it far, but usually old people have heart/liver issues and so on when they are old, not starting in their 40s. Plenty of cases where people on roofs get pretty old or even never have any health issues, but also many guys in wrestling who weren’t that lucky. And as mentioned in the video, his issues started already 1985

It's disgusting to see how these guys made more money in a year than most people make in a lifetime and still manage to find themselves flat broke. Then they hit up the old fans to help out with the medical bills or to help pay their rent. Superstar Billy Graham could've gotten a regular job like everybody else has once his career fizzled out. He chose not to.
