    Same here - I watched it on German television and they kept on saying that the snake was devenomized and also had onscreen text saying that. It was superwerid to see Machoman act like he was being poisoned while everybody was telling me that there was no poison.

    I've always wondered if Kitao really knew who he was messing with when he started with Tenta. Tenta was known as a gentle giant, but he earned a scholarship to wrestle at LSU and was on their varsity wrestling team. Being a former sumo wrestler on top of that and a giant of a man, I'm sure he was nobody to mess with in a real fight.

  • @howstrongis

    @howstrongis

    Ай бұрын

    Think Kitao had generally always the attitude that he needs something to prove, even tried to mess with Riki Chushu during his time in NJPW. As for Tenta, in the Dark Side Of The Ring Episode they mentioned how well liked he was, and also strong as a bull. Probably he picked the wrong person to mess with that day.

  • @DukeRhodes

    @DukeRhodes

    Ай бұрын

    Koji Kitao was a legitimate Yokozuna, highest rank in sumo. He didn't appreciate that he had have Tenta go over him, considering Tenta was a much lower rank in the sumo world. It would have bugged him within himself. Koji Kitao was a tough S.O.B, also a legitimate Mixed Martial Artist. Tenta probably wouldn't have stood a chance against Koji in a legitimate shoot. No disrespect to Tenta (R.I.P) who I truly appreciated in the professional wrestling arena.

    So the thing with Randy not trusting anyone in this case was more so not trusting Jake Roberts to go through fully and make sure tbe cobra was either milked fully or had its venom sacks removed, because Jake at this point wasn't the most reliable person do to his heavy substance abuse. However yes Randy made Jake let the snake bit him, draw blood, the wait in Jake's presence to see if there were any ill effects. Once convinced all was well Randy said ok good to go, only Jake wasn't, once in the ring Jack decided to paint brush the cobra to get it mad which it did as the cobra bit Randy's arm and was so mad wouldn't let go until Jake pulled it free.

    Randy and Jake planned that out. Randy ever got Jake to get the Cobra to bite him on the leg back stage just to make sure. Some thigs do go wrong. Piper whacking Sheik full on in the back with a crutch leaving out line on his back and there was no paint or anything on the crutch either. This stuff is not as fake as it's made out to be when they get hit they get hit you can hear it. Why are they so red after a match and bruised up it's not given the credit it rightly deserves. I'd include Bruno Sammartino. Not only was he WWWF champ from '63-'71 but when he won the title from Buddy Rogers there was a true shoot moment. Rogers didn't want to drop the belt (that he'd been awarded) to Bruno so Vince Sr. had to basically con the Nature Boy into believing he'd get the win over Bruno. Also, Rogers had a bad back at the time. Soon as the bell rang, Bruno threw Buddy up over his shoulders into a rack and told Rogers he'd break his back if he didn't submit. That's shoot.

    That's wrong information. Rogers had a heart condition that prevented him from having the long title reign that was envisioned for him. He had a heart attack shortly after winning the title and couldn't perform where he normally could. They made the decision to get the belt off him and onto Bruno, which was always the plan. It just came a lot sooner and worked out significantly better.
