In the Comics Thanos also feared the Ancient One so her dying could also have been a step towards the Infinity Gauntlet. In the Doctor Strange movie Wong even says that news of the Ancient One's death could cause people to try and attack the Earth.

@@affmekz5224 Not nessesarilly. Thor in his prime (Infinity War) actually stopped a full gauntlet attack from Thanos effortlessly. Stormbreaker might be far more powerful than Mjolnir. And Dr. Strange was actually putting up a decent fight against him on Titan

if it's all just about strength hulk is stronger than thanos but the skill and experience of thanos caught him .....but if hulk gets really angry i meen to the point he cant control his self and dont know what to do... that would be a different story..hulk was like the living embodiment if the power stone😂

As stated by the directors: Thanos wasn't waiting for Asgard to be destroyed. He was waiting to know the locations of *all* the stones, so that he could collect them as quickly as possible. It's not the Asgardians he was worried about, it was all the great empires and forces of the universe who might learn of his plan and try to take him down.

Endgame spoilers ahead Thanos takes on everyone at the end and doesnt even have 1 stone. He even took on captain marvel with only 1 stone. So yeah, doesn't even really need the gauntlet.

Everybody's talking about how the fall of Asgard was great for Thanos, but absolutely NOBODY has mentioned the Ancient One, who ran the shields around the Earth so well that in The Avengers, Thonos' army had to come up with an overcomplicated plan involving the Tesseract in order to come to Earth rather than just fly there.

Well we know Loki is adopted so his hair color is immaterial. In the mythology Freya (or Frigga it's unclear if they are one and the same but Frigga is Odin's wife in myth) is Thor's stepmother, his real mom is Gaea, and as such her hair color is variable. Hela and Thor only share a father, so any result is possible, especially when Asgardian genetics may be completely different from ours. It might be that blond hair is the dominant trait for them. As for their clothes,I am fairly certain genetics has no bearing on what color clothes you wear.

A common misconception is that Thanos had the Gauntlet made after Ragnarock. That isn't true. After Thor: The Dark World when Loki was secretely ruling Asgard its safe to assume places like Nidavellir went unprotected. It was then that Thanos struck and had the Infinity Gauntlet made

Yeah it seems like a taunting move to me. Like he's not just stopping the action, he's actively throwing it back in their faces. I didn't like that about Gamora's death scene, I know they used bubbles for thematic purposes but it felt like in that moment he should have turned it to sand or something, especially given his attachment to Gamora. Bubbles were perfect for Quill though.

You asked why everyone knew to keep Thanos's hand open, the answer is Doctor Strange told them to keep him from making a fist. It's likely this knowledge was a result of the Dr's timescapades with the Eye of Agamotto, but clearly the group considers it the Holy Grail of battle advice.

If you have seen Endgame then you already know how strong he is!

They knew that he had to make a fist. At least Doctor Strange did. Right before the cloak of levitation wraps around his hand, Doctor Strange says, "don't let him close that fist." And see some the cloak after Thanos.

Actually what your noticing is the Stone's trying to rip Thanos apart (just like the Stone's did to others in guardians of the galaxy). Thanos body is simply strong enough to resist it.

Tal Rozenberg as the stones are trying to destroy him he is absorbing the power because there is no way that he he could just stand there and take it because the only way to stop the power is to put it back into a ball thing or something (like in Guardians of the Galaxy)

@@liamdoyle2264 Thanos is most definitely just standing there tanking the negative effects of the Infinity Stones. That what was explained in all of the other movies and that's what the Russo brothers said. The Infinity Stones try to rip apart anyone who picks them up including Thanos. The Infinity Stones do not increase anyone's strength. Thanos is just strong enough to tank the energy without his body being ripped apart.

Some really good points here. I must say though, in the director's commentary, the Russo brothers actually said that the only reason Thanos waited for the gauntlet was because he didn't know where the soul stone was. They said Thanos preferred to use other people to locate the stones and didn't want to waste time gathering them unless he knew he could gather all of them. They said that when Thanos caught Nebula and discovered that Gamora lied and that she knew where the soul stone was, then he set out to get all of the stones. So he actually wasn't afraid of Oden or the Asgardians.

It’s probably a mix of both as both Hela and Odin could prove a challenge to Thanos and he tried to avoid letting the Asgardians know that he was after the stones and possibly have to face them on later on.

5:00 The answer is Asgard--CUT--the answer is that he had to wait for the Soul Stone to be found. He made his move once he found out where the that stone was. Thanos is more powerful than Surtur, ergo, Thanos wasn't afraid of Asgard.

Apparently Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet are stronger than Stormbreaker. In a recent interview, both Russo brothers admitted that Thanos was only hit by Stormbreaker due to his surprise and last minute reaction. He was only using a couple of the stones to hold it back and was surprised of the potential of Stormbreaker. Had he used all of them, Thanos could have destroyed the Stormbreaker weapon then and there.

It would make more sense that he used them all but not to their full potential. In the movie, you can physically see all of the stones glowing as he creates the beam.

Not gonna lie being able to go from watching MatPat's Film Theory about Infinity War and One Punch Man to this right afterwards is great.

In fact, that Thor knew Thanos had already destroyed Xandar, taken the infinity stone, and was going after the rest. He didn’t learn that during Ragnorak. And Thanos isn’t the monologue type to have explained this between the end credit scene and start of Infinity War. So where did Thor learn this? Perhaps Thanos and his children were the enemies of Asgard plotting their demise Thor spoke of. He knew Thanos was coming for Asgard because of the tesseract and wanted to prevent Ragnorak so Asgard would be strong enough to stop them. But let it happen because it would take the space Stone with it. Unfortunately Loki had to be Loki.

But the point is, as Loki sat on the Throne, he let the nine realms go undefended. And that is when Thanos was free to attack the dwarves at the star forge.

One of the reasons why thanos removes the armor as soon as he gets the stones is because all the stones (or at least most of them) have passive abilities. The space stone gives him knowledge of the universe, the mind stone connects him to all living minds, the soul stone allows him to see the souls of all living things, the time stone places him at all points in time and lets him move freely through them, and finally the power stone augments his physical resistance strength and speed to another level as well as make the other stones more powerful (i only listed 5 because i cant seem to find the passive power of the last stone)

can someone please explain to me why vision was so weak in infinity war when in age of ultron he was made up of all the superheros an lifted thors hammer with no effort also he has the power of a INFINITY STONE (MIND) and still gets thrown around like hes nothing he shouldve at least put up some type of fight maybe not much against thanos but very much his "children" an evil army like seriously marvel

Vision isn't made up of all the superheroes... He was initially conceived by Ultron to be Ultron's final perfect body ("his vision") and then completed by stark and banner and then Thor's lightning being used to power him up (switch him on). Lifting Thor's hammer doesn't equate to vision having great strength, only that he's worthy of lifting it. It's explained in the film that when vision was stabbed by Corvus Glaive's glaive that he's lost his ability to phase, making vision more vulnerable to physical attacks and Corvus is shown to be an excellent combatant (even being able to put pressure on Cap, who is one of the best fighters in the MCU, and nearly even beating him, while vision isn't really a hand-to-hand fighter, more so relying on his powers granted by the mind stone). Corvus' glaive is even shown to be able to deflect vision's energy beams that come from the mind stone... All this indicates to me that vision was merely pitted against a foe who had the physical capabilities to face him head on as well as a weapon that could counter vision's powers and even nullify one of his greatest abilities. While in age of Ultron, vision merely fought against ultron and as I said, Ultron wanted to create vision to be his final body, making Ultron inferior to vision in every way thus making vision seem more overpowered in that film than in subsequent films as in civil war it's shown that even Wanda has become somewhat equal to him in power (due to her of course getting her power from the mind stone as well).

The reason he didn't act wasn't because of Asgard (come-on man, Thanos army is obviously as advanced and much more massive in numbers than the 10 thousands Asgardians Odin boasted about, and I bet like Hella he could kill them all with his bare hands). The reason he didn't act was because he didn't knew the location of the soul stone. If you stop to think, what his minions (Loki, Ronan and Gamora) were really doing was locating the stones (First Avengers post credit scene is basically Loki finding out that shield has the Tesseract) and since their hadn't anything better to do take them (like what's the point to send Ronan to find the orb and let the orb there in the ruined planet?). But his minions failing still gives him the location of the stones, which is good enough until he knows the location of all the stones. If the universe knew that Thanos had 3 or more infinity stones and was looking for the remnants to kill half the universe, then everyone would organize to stop him Xandar, Kree, Skrull, Sovereign, the Avengers, Asgardians, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc. At this level he really couldn't defeat everybody by himself, every arm in the universe at once. So this is why he let everyone thinks the stones are beyond his reach and safe. So no coalition forms to stop him.

@@NFStrife ok, but this misconception is one of the foundations to his theory on Thanos strength without the gauntlet. He is certainly much more powerful than Hella and probably Odin in the MCU. This is not a ceiling for him.

I'm not saying Odin was weaker that the Frost Giants or the Dark Elves, but he clearly didn't think he could easily decimate them. He thinks he can win but at great price. Which is exactly what Thanos does to Xandar without any stone, a highly advanced civilization, heavily defended planet and probably one of the powerhouse civilization in the universe (together with the Kree and Skrull).

These are super great points! But I wanna know, is your theory on why he was so afraid of Asgard's army? Was it mimir? Did he know somehow about Hela? Or one of the objiects they kept locked away underground? He could have EASILY defeated all of them-why did he wait until Asgard fell?

I personally think that in endgame there will be a big battle where it comes down to thanos with infinity gauntlet vs iron man who steals the stones from thanos and uses them saying “I am iron man” snapping his fingers turining all of thanos army to dust and ultimately sacrificing himself... just a theory tho

8:28 I thing the the avengers that were in the fight on Titan figured out that he activates the gauntlet by making a fist, but I'm not so sure about the rest. When Cap was holding the gauntlet in Wakanda he seemed to be stopping Thanos from making a fist, so perhaps he figured it out, but it's hard to say if this was intentional.

Well, in Titan, there were the Guardians, who had already faced Thanos. So Star lord might have figured out that he needed to close his fist to use the stones, as he already saw it happen. I always thought that Steve preventing him from closing his hand was just a coincidence, but he did saw him use the stones before, so maybe.

@@runechii295 good call. I had kind just considered that one coincidental because it seemed like Thanos was reaching for his face and I felt like Cap was more trying to hold his hand BACK than necessarily OPEN but your thoughts could also very well have been the case

I think that, especially given how sharp stark and strange are, they would have caught on that every use of the gauntlet came when thanos closed his fist.

Agreed. Some people are mad about the sponsors? They're mentioned for two seconds in the beginning... and at the end. Just skip it? Also they tend to cover what's trendy at the moment. So they go back to HP sometimes and old Disney movies, but when the Fantastic Beasts trailer came out they covered that. Now that IW is out on DVD they're covering that. And whenever a Star Wars film comes out in theatres, they cover that extensively. I'm ok with how they plan it. In between stuff coming out, they go back to their old movies. It's fine the way it is...

6:30 -> As far as I understand such matters, I think there is a HUGE difference between Hela, an Asgardian demi-God (I always had trouble considering Asgardians as real actual Gods) who gave herself the job of killing people, and Mistress Death, who would be the actual personification of Death.

Have you guys thought of doing a theory on what Scarlet Witch showed Hulk in Avengers 2? And how it might connect with Infinity War or Avengers 4? Because I would LOVE to see what y’all could come up with.

Pointy objects are his weakness....seriously, the ONE time Hawkeye could've saved the galaxy and he don't bother showing up
