My favorite, most impactful line: “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”
I personally think Snape is a better parallel for Malfoy, and your theory of a better generation still sticks. Like Sev and James, Harry and Draco are fast enemies and spend most of their school years berating and dueling (though Harry doesn't bully the way James does obviously, if anything, he's the one being bullied). Draco was also raised by a bad father and has a love for the dark arts. The difference is that when the time comes, it truly seems that Draco did not want to take the steps that he did. He was forced into the death eater position by his father. And after the war, he seems to change as a person, marrying and truly loving his son in a healthy way. Though he'll never be a saint, I don't think he's into the same dark arts that his dad was, which is very different than Snape. Though obviously Snape becomes a double agent, he does it only because of Lily, not because of the cause. I think Draco got his redemption off page and changed his way (especially if you take *shudders* cursed child into account)
Im happy that you didn't put Harry has to die as a plot twist because when i was reading the books and finished the 4th one, my dad, who was also into them, came and told me something he had heard from a reliable source that J.K. Rolling in the original manuscript of Harry Potter, which was divided on 7 books (Which turn out to be true, so it was a reliable source), Harry died at the end, that supposedly it was taken out. And when the reveal came on Book 7 i wasn't surprise but i had a small smirk like saying "You magnificent woman, you work it into the story amazingly", but then Harry lives and im like "Wow, they truly work it out of the story, and what an amazing way to do it, make it happen in a way that tricks you".
A question I have related to the conversation about wand cores is how would you harvest a dragon heartstring? In the case of unicorn hairs and phoenix feathers, you wouldn’t have to kill the magical creature to obtain those things, but I can only imagine you would have to kill a dragon to use dragon heartstring in a wand. But if your theory about Charlie is true, he wouldn’t kill a dragon he has a n affinity with…thoughts? 1:16:40
Dumbledore doesn’t let Snape teach Defense Against the Dark Arts because the position is cursed and he doesn’t want to lose him.
Yeti's are mentioned in James Potter (5 book fan series of Harry's son. It's interesting.....I accept it as more cannon than Cursed Child)
Nah, I stand by snape being malfoy if he hadn’t been poor. Even as a child, he was already not a great person, and bullied petunia when he could. He was already prejudiced. Also Luna didn’t really have any friends except for ginny and Harry. Snape had slytherin friends (lily mentions it) and was clearly attracted to the dark arts regardless of how James treated him. Isnt it also implied that, like malfoy, Snape bullied weaker students ? I think Sirius said that part of why James bullied him was to protect others from him.
I think she acts the way she did because SHE believes she's a fraud.
I fully believe that Dumbledore used a Time Turner to have Hagrid collect the Stone. That Dumbledore planned ahead of time, when he put the Stone into the vault, that when he saw that the Stone had been not-stolen, he would go back and tell Hagrid to take it to prevent it from being stolen. Because everything that will happen has to have already happened. Like Buckbeak, Dumbledore planned to have Hermione save him, and when he saw that Buckbeak was saved, he tells her to go and save him.
I still think its possible that the basilisk wouldnt kill myrtle and voldemort did it himself instead. Because he never bothered with the basilisk again had no intention too. Like It cant do anything for him so why bother. Surprised he didnt kill the basilisk in frustration honestly.
Yeah...about the memories...According to Mike: Lochness, Bigfoot, and The Abominable Snowman were banished. But...Those three monsters also are human legend! Never forgotten even to today of 2024! J, I'd bet you 37 galleons, 15 sickles, and 3 knuts that all three monsters had let humans catch sighting of them ON PURPOSE. Nessie has been sighted as far back as 565 A.D. by Irish monk Saint Columbia. Bigfoot was first seen in 1958 by Jerry Crew, and The Abominable Snowman aka The Yeti was first recorded in 1832 when the Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bengal published a report from British trekker B.H. Hodgson. So, I think that Nessie, Bigfoot, and Adorable lets the humans catch a glimpse of them so they would be documented, and their memory preserved in Human History Records until they could return to Monster Inc. and even then, they will never be forgotten with their memory with humans history of legends and myths, even when Sulley as the new CEO would repeal their initial unlawful banishments given to them by former CEO Henry J. Waternoose. Also, I did not need to look this up...I actually was able to remember this. Fact check me if you want...I REMEBERED THOSE DATES...🤓👍🧠💭💡

But why did Sirius have to die?
I mean, that really makes it worse to me. Arthur was spared so lupin had to die? Arthur who has raised so many children, lived with a lot of happiness in his life, and only ever faced discrimination by choosing to be himself and Loving muggle artifacts, needed to live; and so lupin, who was discriminated against for being a werewolf all his life, hated himself to the point he didn't Believe he deserved happiness because of something he had NO control over, and finally meets someone who won't let him hate himself enough to keep her out, he needed to die and cut short the glimmer of happiness that was finally starting. Excellent thinking. Bc for whatever reason the universe just loves stepping in remus john lupin when all he ever did was be a good man.
2:11:18 This reminds me of _Leo Inter Serpentes,_ where Harry makes good use of Serpensortia (and has a pet snake).
I think Dumbledore is living by destiny: He’s the jack of all traits, using the elder wand to be master of all; but, it comes at a cost… I think Dumbledore knows the future, has seen what’s going to happen, and when the prophecy is made to him, it’s more a reinforcement to what he already kind of knew…. The problem is how much of you knowing what is destined to happen, is required for creating the future that occurs? By the start of the books: I believe Dumbledore had seen specific scenes in the future, communicated with known fortune tellers, and used the wand to gain as much foresight as possible… I also believe, he was in constant fear, that his additional actions as he lives in the present; will effect the only outcome that needed to be destined to happen… In the end, the story feels like a redemption story of a man(Dumbledore) who used tools that even gods aren’t suppose to have, and made the entirety of existence pay the price for his use of them… The double-edge sword of the argument is that Dumbledore used those same tools to advance existence in incredible ways… However, because Dumbledore was living by destiny, as always happens, he became a slave to it, and wasted away doing exactly as it instructed.
If Dobby wasn't involved the wand wouldn't have been broken.
If that would be the case, She just died she'll probably get back with Herc on Olympus.
Do some Name of the Wind and Wiseman’s Fear quizzes!!🙏
the other slytherin is theodore nott, right?
Come on guys. Avada Kedavra should've been green!
Perfect examples of how JK is such an amazing writing. The layers within her writing are so impressive. She's the best writer of this generation
I always wondered how Snape, and the Dursleys, would of been if the potters had a daughter instead. The spitting image of Lily rather than James.
When does the first through the griffin tour episode go on the podcast? Or are they not being released? It’s Sunday and I’m lost without the podcast! 😢
Id sayy the book itself is cursed lol😂
Your noise floor is too loud, fyi.
56:56 Doesn't the "maim or seriously injure" line happen in the Deathly Hallows Part 1 film, not the Chamber of Secrets film?
I love this so much. Specially bc HP teaches us, that death isn't the worst outcome and can even mean growth - as we see with Dumbledore f.e. It's really beautiful to see, how the next generation can learn from the last and improve apon that.
Can we talk about the Iceberg? She can destroy an iceberg with ONE PUNCH, she can withstand a tornado, and she can also lift a bridge with on hand!
7:51 “NO”
MatPat did a video comparing the Incredibles, you could've used that one for reference!
9:52 glad they added the definition of ‘churlish, cause I was about to go google it 😂
What about the other emotion that has appeared? Nostolgia?
Thanks J now I have that song stuck in my head 😂
Ok now im starting to like malfoy a bit
What cant people get to the point right away.
How Jay starts and eats a new cake for several ads and yet also does spartan races is crazy
You said Luna rounds off the groups 6 but the potter magical number is 7 so are we looking past someone important?
33:38 I enjoyed wizards unite SO MUCH during Covid and was SO SAD when they took it away. RIP.
Why isn’t the real question being addressed? If Lucy Grey is Katniss grandmother (and I’m personally sure she is) then surely Snow is her grandfather. It’s very possible not to say probable that Lucy and Coriolanus consummate their relationship when he hikes up in 12. Given what we know about Lucy and the covey (plus all the real-life stories about travelling folk) it’s not a huge stretch for her to sneak back and doorstep her son with a 12 family called Everdeen. This would take her out of the future narrative. The story arc would then come back to 12. The new book would continue that with a 39 year old man marrying the daughter of the apothecary who has been broken by the death of her friend in the games and is looking for something more than someone her own age can provide. The terror that follows in the wake of having a winner in their district would cement this need (and also explain what happened to her when he died).
If Umbridge believed that Voldermore is back whould she not have become a death eater? all her views are the same, she is even a half with a superiority complex
Am I the only one hearing a noise for the mic?
Alright about Lupin's death, but you don't explain why Tonks has to die too...
Please drop betterhelp already….
The wand chooses the wizard Mr. Potter
0:01 how cow I didnt realize ben was like that
Voldy wanted Slughorn for his potion making skills. Plus Slughorn was sort of a mentor to young Tom Riddle. Don't forget, Voldy kidnapped Olivander the wand maker for his knowledge of wands because he wanted to know more about the elder wand and why his wand didn't work against Harry's wand.
not all looses are by 150 points. you could catch the snitch being down 140 and win by 10 so the losing team would only lose by 10.
Dumbledore did not hire Umbridge, because he could not find a DADA teacher the ministry appointed someone to teach it.
