Only problem I have is none of your theory includes Cultivation. Another shard present and active on Roshar. Will not be silent during all of this, she put Taravangian in place so that he could hold Odium's power WITH honor. Idk why she hasn't interacted with Kaladin (the son of her lover and fellow diety) but this needs to happen, and probably will. Taravangian wants to 'save them all'. He's too good of a villain to be killed off, I believe the amazing ending is somehow going to be getting the entire audience to side with Odium because he makes his intentions honorable to the people of Roshar. "Honor has failed you, I will not." "We have a greater war we must fight for our survivial, other gods want me dead or out of the way because they fear me, they fear you, they fear surgebinding... etc." In order for Odium to continue to gain depth he has to be more than a cheap antagonist. He can't lose every battle. The audience must begin to see him as Magneto and not Sauron (Brandon has said as much). This series opened with the Oathpact ending, I believe that is what the major point of the arc is. No more desolations, no more heralds, no more unmade. Similar to no more pure mistborn. A united Roshar (which we have never seen) How dangerous is it? So much that Scadrial and Elantris are going to need 3 books a piece to combat it. How does Odium win against every other Shard? Shouldn't be possible. What is his edge? These are the question I need answered. The power has destroyed 4 gods. But they're equal in power, so, how? Yet the other gods seem to think that if it gets out of hand he can be dealt with. 12 years we need some answers, hopefully we get some.

You are right Cultivation will have a role to play in book 5. I unfortunately, have no idea what that will be. Taravangian will definitely play a more sympathetic, Magneto-style Odium, though him getting Dalinar's league (the people he just betrayed) seems like a long shot. Though when his champion wins the duel, he'll have the majority of Roshar which would be enough to wage a space war. I don't think we'll see Roshar at peace with itself until book 10. You bring up some great questions for me to consider. Thanks!

I’m hoping for bittersweet. But expecting far worse.

Brandons greatest battle is going to be the final battle of WaT. Its going to be between Teravodiums corrupted Dalinar, who is going to lose the contest of champions at the end of the first half of SA5, and Kaladin who will reforge and mantle the Shard of Honor.

Your theory is very interesting and a lot of it can happen. But it assumes a loss for Dalinar. I don’t think that will happen as there is other setup to suggest that TOdium is going to go for a draw. Since it’s a contest to the death, the situation of a draw has not been laid out in the contract. This is where the child champion theory comes in. A situation where Dalinar cannot be killed but also would not kill a child. Both live then what? Will it be null and void? Or does Dalinar refusing make it an automatic loss? Can they talk their way out of it? Who knows? Do you have any thoughts on this?

I admit that I’m predicting the most dramatic (for me) version of events for SA 5. I do think it’s more likely for the duel to end in a draw, than for Dalinar to outright win. But my gut reaction has been his doom based on my perception of Sanderson’s tone, themes, and possible source material as I laid out in the Doom of Dalinar kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZJ-u2bhph7zMhLA.html

@@MeMySkirtandI I just think that if it’s a doom it will be because he turned into a better man because that would just hurt us more. The only theory that hurts me more is that Rinarin will be odiums champion because he sees it’s the only way a la doctor strange in infinity war.

Because the book won’t be released until December of this year. Judging by book 4’s release we’ll probably get cover art this summer

I wonder the role of Renarin, the title of the book is Wind and Truth, wind being Kaladin and Seth, Truth i believe it to be Renarin. What theory would you have for him?

You know, that is the first I've heard of someone thinking that Truth refered to Renarin. The presumption I've made is that Truth refers to Szeth (Truthless of Shinovar) as Book 5 gives us his flashbacks. Something about Truth being tied to Justice (Tom Cruise can't handle it). But like most of the PoV characters, I tend to underestimate Renarin. Ruminate on this, I will. Thanks!

It could still be Seth, too, but I wouldn't be surprised if Renarin had flashbacks too. I feel that he may be playing a big role in this book in finding that unmade, Ba-ado-Mishram (pardon my spelling). I actually do not believe Dalinar is going to lose. In fact, I feel Rhythm of War and Oathbringer set him up to be a new combo-shard of Odium and Honor becoming Unity. (Just like he said in Oathbringer)

Thanks for checking out my videos! This theory takes Brandon at his word (a dicey prospect) when he said that Sunlit only spoiled stuff early in SA 5. So I assume that Sig is off world before the duel.

I will give Stormlight archive a very high rating if we can see the end of the horrible romance which is Shallan and Adolin. They were so much better apart. I am not holding high hopes for this one, it would be too good to be true.

I definitely fear that Sanderson will do like he did in Lost Metal, and start introducing the space age instead of closing existing arcs. But I ship Adolin and Shallan, though I fear Adolin is toast.

In every book ending dalanar always senses a warm distant light that the Stormfather cant..Adonelsium light?..at least it aligns to the end goal UNITE THEM.

Dalinar uniting Honor is the very common interpretation in the fandom. Sanderson has done a lot to set that up. But I think it’s a red herring. Have you read The Sunlit Man? In my review I talk a little about how I perceive the Cosmere’s endgame, which is splintering all the shards.

It's Honor. Brando has already said shattered shards can be reforged, it's just never happened. As the stormfathers Bondsmith Dalinar is very close to Honor's power.

The Warcamps really don't feel like 'home' in Rhythm of War. And, being a large castle with many magical secret passages, I've got to call you out on saying the Warcamps are Hogwarts when Urithiru is a thing. Not that any of this undermines the rest of your argument, but c'mon. Urithiru.

Although, there was a secret passage in the War Camps. Maybe the War Camps are more like Camelyn, to Urithiru's Tar Valon/dragonmount. Though I'm not sure many of my viewers have read the Wheel of Time.

@@MeMySkirtandI The underground scene in the warcamps when Shallan first meets Mraize really reminded me of the Elayne kidnapping scene, actually. I don't know why, but there you are. The warcamps are kind of like five towns smashed right up next to each other. It's a bit like Camelyn, Carhien and Tear all in one.

But the hostilities are supposed to stop the moment the duel begins. So it won't be like star wars

How did you arrive at that interpretation? the way I read the terms “If I win that contest,... You will vow to cease hostilities and maintain the peace, not working against my allies or our kingdoms in any way” and “But if I win, I ... will still cease hostilities as you said above. ”-Rhythm of War The promise to cease hostilities comes after a victor of the duel has been determined. Though Dune 2 did have the battle, and then the duel, Herbert isn't known for great pacing.

@@MeMySkirtandI Nevermind, I was wrong. “One way or another, it will end,” Dalinar said. “The terms will enforce a treaty in ten days, following the contest. The contest will decide the fate of Alethkar, among … other items. Regardless, the hostilities will continue until that day, and so we must remain vigilant. I expect the enemy to make a play to capture what he can, before the treaty finalizes borders. I perhaps made a miscalculation there." I didn't see the 'following the contest' part. I read it as the treaty is enforced the moment the contest starts. Whoops my bad. On a completely different note,I did want to say that Dalinar probably won't lose the contest and might even do well because he is looking for a bondsmith powerup. It is far more likely that Todium gets Dalinar to break the rules of the contest in some way since that will make Dal his pawn while also letting Todium roam the cosmere and 'save them all'. Todium is definitely angling for that

@@havewissmart9602 Thanks for clarifying! I've missed a few live streams, and wasn't sure if there was a WoB on the topic. Yes, you are right that Dalinar "winning" but somehow Todium still winning more on a technicality is a viable option. Both "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis, and "Dune" by Herbert take that route, and I see Sanderson being influence by both works. But Sanderson also plays by the rule of cool and spectacle. So who can say?

@@MeMySkirtandI Nah i don't think Dalinar will, he will just put up a much better fight than expected (bondsmith advice from ishar?) but then somehow ends up breaking the contract in someway, letting Todium free entirely from the contract and roshar while still having evil Dalinar Edit: but the main reason Dalinar won't lose is because if he loses, the hostilities still end. I don't see that happening, do you?

@@havewissmart9602 According to the WoBs I’ve heard in universe there’s a break of 15 years between books 5 and 6 of the Stormlight Archive. So that’s about how long I envision hostilities ceasing. Besides Todium can’t ‘save’ the cosmere if he’s still fighting for Roshar. Ending the fight on Roshar, is just a beginning of the Space War.

Reread Rhythm of War until you like the listeners. Venli best character. Only because Eshonai's not around.

Venli's one of the better written radiants in my opinion. Best character is a bit much, but she's a really interesting expansion of the world. Spren politics are fun.
