I remember when George W Bush was handed the presidency by the Republicans on Supreme Court like it was yesterday. It was the first time in my life that I realize "our" country wasn't what I was taught it was. And then when George W Bush presidency was finally over I thought to myself wow finally the worst is over and at least we can't get worse than him. And then the Republicans "Trumped" George W. Bush's atrocious presidency for sure! 🤨

I cried when he won. I really thought that was as bad as it could get. Silly me.

2000 was such a confusing election. I was in 5th grade learning civics in WY and trying to understand why what were taught in class wasn’t what was happening with the election. The process that we were taught wasn’t what was actually was taking place. Probably the biggest distrust of the system in my early life

Omg this sheds so much light on what happened. I was in 3rd grade when the Bush v. Gore election happened and all of the teachers and parents at the time were so nervous and stressed. Thank you for filling in the gaps

My mother was stationed overseas in the army during all of these tomfoolery and she’s 100% sure her vote wasn’t counted 😞

I was in 7th grade and had just went on a field trip to the Newseum in DC the week before the election. It was something crazy in history class because we “didn’t take it seriously” on the trip and in class the next day, only for the whole ordeal to be a complete 💩show in real life.

Fun fact: I worked as a Staff Assistant for former Sen Joe Lieberman’s office during the campaign. It was a busy time because we were helping with the campaign and trying run the office. it also made me shy away from politics for years.

I remember being in 2nd grade during this and my little brain couldn’t grasp anything going on 😂 but, I would love to see this turn into a series! Loving your channel as always!

Girl I was in high school unable to vote and not following politics when a white guy at Publix, where I was working proceeded to tell me (unprompted) that he was not voting for W because he wouldn’t stand his brother and what he’d done to the state. I was like “okay” can you pay for your grocery sir lol!! Thank you for making the video because even my friends act like this didn’t happen. Straight amenesia
