How Royal Albatross Couples Share Their Parental Duties | Into The Wild New Zealand | Smithsonian

Ойын-сауық

Royal albatrosses have one of the longest incubation periods of all birds: around 11 weeks. The male and female work in shifts sitting on their egg, so that it's never left unattended.

Maybe the most impressive birds ever made by the creator. They can fly for over 30 hours nonstop and have incredible navigation skills. They can predict bad weather days ahead of time and fly around it with unerring accuracy. Thanks for this video.

that is so interesting that the birds know to turn the egg so the warmth is distributed evenly

Peregrine falcons also take turns. A nest cam near here shows their shift change rituals (they're VERY careful where they step!). Kind of makes sense that one organism wouldn't just sit still for months and months, letting their muscles atrophy and completely dependent on another for food.

Eagles also take turns. The Bald Eagle, with those huge talons, roll the talons inward and step so gingerly around the nest cup. Nature is amazing!

And it takes so long to raise that chick that they only raise one every other year. The parents need to take a year off to replenish their strength.

Phenomenal birds 🎉.❤. They are in danger of extinction because of OUR plastic in the oceans and OUR industrial fishing 😢 !.

Does the male albatross lay the eggs? Parenting is a team effort, but team members perform different functions which best suits them as they were created to do. Also for humans, God made them male and female to be distinct but complement each other, not to be like each other. Let women be women and men be men. It’s not difficult really unless the goal is to get rid of God’s sovereign authority.

Ok? Don’t see anyone saying otherwise. However certain actions are neither inherently male or female. Ostriches for example only have the males brood the eggs and raise the chicks. Once the female lays them she runs off to find a new mate to do it all over again.
