Love the Commodors. Lionel Ritchie is the GOAT of the love songs in the 70s. You have to listen to "Still" by The Commodors. It's beautiful 🎙🎵💖

Don't forget one of the greatest love songs, ever, imho, Lionel Ritchie's "Truly". Also, "You Are" and "All Night Long" are bangers. So glad Lionel was elected to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, He 'truly' deserves it.

I love it when Shawn reaches out and takes Mel's hand ,and kisses it.Seems so effortless and natural.Mel never resists .That's a sign of true love. You guys are an amazing inspiration. Lionel can sing the Newspaper and make it sound good.Love that guy. Lionel Richie wrote" Lady" by Kenny Rogers he also covered it himself Beautifully. "Zoom"and "Sweet Love" my two favorites.

I was so fortunate to see him sing this live in concert when I was a teenager. My friend and I got tickets to see the Commadores perform at the Forum in Los Angelas. We waited in line for hours at Ticket Tron to get those tickets. Unfortunately were up in the "cheap seats", but what a party it was. My goodness, they had 12,000 people up singing and dancing. The sound was great even though we were so far up. We had binoculars and could see them on the stage performing, their costumes and dancing were great. Lionel and his ballads, just melted our hearts. After it was over, the audience started roaring, clapping and stomping their feet, to get them to come out for another song. I got a little scared then because it felt like the whole building was shaking! Then when they came back out to sing, absolute silence filled the arena. Everyone held up a cigarette lighter and waved it around, I had never seen that before it was so beautiful like stars. I bought a red Commodore's t-shirt and wore it till it disintegrated. Sure would like to have that t-shirt again. It was a magical night. :)

Back in 2015 my wife was working a night shift job and would get home around midnight. I would usually have a meal ready for her when she got home. On the night of June 22 that year (our 30th anniversary); I not only had the meal ready for her, but also my kareoke machine ready. As she walked in the door, I keyed it up and sang this song to her.

When I was 15 or 16, I went to a Commodores concert. It was general admission, believe it or not. Which met, once you got there you could sit anywhere you wanted. I invited a friend along. However, her mother wouldn’t allow her to go without a chaperone. So my mom agreed to go with us. We got there early and we got the front row. While waiting, the stage was being set up. The stage manager, came down to speak to my mom, my friend and I. He invited us to stay after the show, so he could introduce us to the band. We were introduced to everyone but, Lionel Richie. We visited for a few hours. When it was time for us to go, William King, one of the members of the Commodores. Walked my mother, my friend and I back to the car, to insure our safety. I never forgot that, it was so kind of him. The opening band for The Commodores at that time was a group called L.T.D. (which stood for Love, Togetherness and Devotion). I’ve never seen anyones reaction to their must. They were really, really good. I even had them on vinyl. Some of their songs are as follows… Love Ballad-1976 Back in Love Again-1977 Holding On (When Love is Gone)-1978 I just love you Shawn & Mel 🥰
