How Robert Mugabe killed Zimbabwe cricket

Спорт

Robert #Mugabe loves cricket. But #Zimbabwe cricketers haven't always felt the same way about him. #Cricket hit rock bottom under his patronage. Would it be at its peak today if not for him?

    Let me ask you one question. You say Zimbabwe was a very good team, how many world cups , tournaments , test series , ODI series did they win before 2003. There’s difference between better to compete than the current team or the zim cricket for the past 10 years or so and being a very good team like you say. Yes they were very good individual players like Andy Flower, Grant Flower and Heath Streak but don’t act like the whole team was winning world cups and tournaments.

To be very frank I never saw any racism thing in the team as black and whites played hand in hand and had a good bonding as well (this is because just like NZ & SA, even Zimbabwe had cricketers who were down to earth).. • @Banzybanz

    @Banzybanz

    5 жыл бұрын

    I disagree. But before that I'd like to ask you why you think BCCI is killing cricket. I can think of 2 points: (1) Bullying smaller cricket boards by threatening to reduce number of matches or cancel series if their demands are not met. (2) IPL (3) Trying to form a cabal with ECB and CA and trying to monopolise cricket amongs themselves 1. This happened during a South Africa series where BCCI reduced the number of Tests to 2 and even threatened to cancel the whole series. I don't know of any other incidents like this, maybe I have missed something. 2. I'm not a fan of IPL or T20 cricket but it was the rest of the cricketing world that forced it upon India. England came up with this abomination. Then forced it upon the rest of the world, who were quick to accept it. BCCI voted against the T20 World Cup but had to play in it. Then India won and just took on from there. Don't blame the IPL for being popular or succesful. Meanwhile Australia has a popular T20 league too.
