    My simming has come to this, in what are now my later years! But IRL I spend most of my career flying long hauls. Not super long - I stayed away from that, but as long as LFPG to KLAX on one occasion. Not in the sim,though -- too much boredom (yes, boredom in the airplane too, but we had to endure that to make a buck!). The shortest flight I actually did IRL was a ferry flight in a 727 from LGA to JFK. Winds were such as to allow the use of 22 at LGA for takeoff and 13L at JFK for landing, which resulted in a 4 minute whifferdil (takeoff to touchdown) during which we never fully retracted the flaps. That might be a record for a transport category airplane.

    Wow, that's what I call a flight! My personal record is 17 minutes on a ferry flight, at my base a couple people had the honor to do pattern work during covid to keep our planes air worthy. Unfortunately I never got one of those.

    I've recently flown in real life from Barcelona to Menorca. It's a less than 30 minutes long flight, so I wondered how did the pilots managed to do all they have to do in such a short time.

    Like this! My own favorite short hop is Hiroshima (RJOA) to Matsuyama (RJOM) because of some gorgeous scenery I had for P3D 4, even though my wife complaints that is not a real route. (she is from Ehime prefecture of which Matsuyama is the capital) Unfortunately it is not available any more, but you gave me the itch to go and check MSFS.

    Hi sir, Thanks a lot for your professionally instructed videos. They certainly add a lot of professionalism to simulator flying. Even though I fly the PMDG 777, I refer to your videos for many real-world procedures and tips, etc. They really give more realism and make simulator flying very educational and enjoyable too.

    Flying from Atlanta to Birmingham and back is short. 28 minutes going to Birmingham (you get a nice scenic view of Birmingham on the way in out the right side). BHM-ATL is a little longer because you have to go nearly due south and then turn east to pick up the arrival. It's 35 minutes coming back to Atlanta. I'll be doing a lot of those with the PMDG plane.

  • @A330Driver

    @A330Driver

    I hope they had to ferry, if they found a fairy I'm sure they'd be famous by now ;-) Just joking, those short sectors are super nice and you'd operate them the very same way as shown in the video: Prepare everything on the ground, then in the air it's only frequencies, courses, minimums and you're done.

    Great video once again! I’m very much still a newbie so this is all a bit beyond me! One question though, how are you setup to move the camera around so freely? I know you use something like mouselook but the seamless moving around really makes everything so immersive and looks effortless. How do you set that up so that you can control the mouse and throttle/yoke all at once as that is definitely more fluid than a joystick hat etc?

The last few videos answer questions about topics I was wondering about - a) which lights to use at night, and b) managing short flights, which I recently scheduled using A Pilot’s Life Chapter 2. I did have one question. How do you set the custom RYR yoke placard checklist? I’ve searched online but had no luck finding a how-to, or where to find the file needed. Thanks again for all the content! 🫡
