No the problem here was that she was not thoughtful about how she was presenting her beauty in the situation she was being viewed in. This situation required her to be beautiful but demure the Queen was to be the center of attention.

You can't steal what doesn't belong to you. Bringing freshness to an extremely dull monarchy/figureheads...Princess Diana was a breath of fresh air, period.

Meghan gets blamed, disliked for publicly slandering or speaking negatively about the RF end of, people piling on her says more about their dislike of her character rather than anything that the Royal Family has done or said. The whole grenade throwing has been a one way battle, with all the bombs coming from the Sussex camp. The RF has said literally nothing, they don't throw negatively at H&M , never explain, never complain.

Very good point! This IS why royals are expected to NOT draw TOO much attention to themselves. Di was not quite mature enough to not independently speak to media as per standard. BUT-it WAS Phillip himself who WANTED the media involved with the family. Not Di's fault-media are sharks who literally KILLED her. 😢

I remember this, Princess Diana stole the show because of what else was going on at the time. Princess Diana seemed shy and unhappy but she looked absolutely beautiful with that hair style. It was so fitting.

Diana grew it out when she was pregnant with Harry. The press dubbed her “Dynasty Di.” 😡 Side note: I doubt the Late Queen felt this way at all. She received plenty of attention on her own, and positive press was good for the nation and for the family. I believe that it was just the press stirring up trouble again.

It really just looked like the hair length just happened to be longer than before because she did not cut it. Would it have been better if she wore it down with curls? Forewent the tiara? What, was she supposed to shorn it right before the opening ceremony to undo all the growing it did and force herself to start over just so her hairstyle wouldn't divert attention from something the Queen did every single year for literally twenty+ years? This wasn't the silver jubilee, this was an annual pomp and circumstance that had even less meaning than a president's State of the Union address. Elizabeth literally did the exact same thing, even wore the same robes and crown, EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Like if you wanted the attention, Queenie, maybe do something worthy of it instead of just assuming you should have it by default. In this case I totally agree with the others; this was obviously an unfortunate situation, and maybe Diana did deliberately grow her hair out to see if the press would be more favorable towards her, but if the Queen did get annoyed about it, it showed the Queen's pettiness far more than Diana's need for attention. I mean sure, it's hair, it's not a big deal to cut it, but it's also HER HAIR. It's not her CLOTHES or her MAKEUP or a HAT. Like imagine if you were forced to change your hairstyle just so your mother-in-law can stay in the spotlight for this boring ritual she did every year. Which of you is the unreasonable one? It's also not like Diana dyed it or permed it. As far as I can tell, she chose the most boring possible hairstyle one could do with her hair length.

Public interest is what makes the paparazzi hound ppl. Get the pics to sell the papers to all her supporters & haters. Unfortunately it’s the truth. The attention that she drew in this way upset others for the same reason. Charles would be at a charity event & want press coverage, but the paparazzi were taking pictures of Diana in an outfit or hat. Same for Princess Anne & her patronages. I understand the reason for wanting those important things highlighted, but Diana didn’t deserve their animosity. She couldn’t hide every day to prevent the press choosing to cover her instead.

I heard in documentaries that no one is allowed to upstage the queen. Even when the queen would finish eating, everyone had to put down their utensils and be finished, too. All attention should be on the Queen or King. Like it isn't already...Diana was just too beautiful. Reminds me a little of Snow White, but her beauty and the obsession to see her was her downfall, and it wasn't even her fault. :(

@@user-yj4os1us2f Kate is not Diana. They have fashioned her into the mold the Firm wants. No need to worry about her - she lives the incredibly opulent life she wanted to. She will be fine. The sycophants in media try hard to make her as Diana was but there is no comparison. Nobody can bring the sparkle and excitement to the BRF that she did.

Her gown, tiara and hairdo was so elegant. Funny how the only fault of Princess Diana was she was too young and beautiful. Princess Anne was pretty when she was young and then looked severe when she was middle-aged. Charles was stupidly jealous as usual. Princess Diana was so respectful and elegant

It wasn't a hair cut. She had it pinned up. It pissed them off BC one of the paparazzi said something about it and Diana patted the back of her head calmly. She was told more important things were going on besides fashion and looks. Then she was told, never try upstaging the queen again. Like she planned it all. Poor Lady Di, they made her out to be quite the bandit to take eyes off any wrong doing by a true royal. Long live her memory, LDFS- 👑 That's the Spencer crown! 😂

She stole the limelight by just breathing and being alive. She was so beautiful she couldn't help it. ❤

Diana's hair should not have "upstaged" the Opening of Parliament. Nor should her lipstick, or jewelry, or shoes, or fragrance.... The guilty party was the Press. The Press focused on Diana's hair over the Sovereign's speech.

That just shows how shallow the media outlets were and pretty much still are. Media should never be a form of manipulation of the masses it should be about the truth. Miss the days of honest journalism. They contribute to the breakdown of Diana’s marriage and her life. I will never forgive them or have any trust in their forms of journalism 👎🏽 it’s all about the money not the real truth.

It seems the monarchy didn't allow her to have long hair since it would have been more beautiful and get more attention...and they were already very jealous of her beauty and charisma...they couldn't handle more...

In a series of books that I read, called the sword of truth, the length of a persons hair symbolizes their status, so queens had longer hair than princesses . This was a fantasy series, so there were women called confessors, that had magic to control people, and they ranked higher than a queen and king so they had the longest hair. I think commoners weren’t allowed to have hair past their earlobes, it had to be kept very short

Too easy to mess up during her illicit assignations.

Diana looked so sad and uncomfortable 😢. I wish I could have given her the biggest hug and lifted her spirits at that time.

I saw a video sometime ago and learned that Princess Margaret scolded Diana harshly and told her to "never upstage the Queen again." Sounds like a real dill-hole to me.🙄

Jealousy...it's jealousy! this sister of her husband was also jealous. It's her charisma that is so incredibly beautiful and her kind heart... Conclusion: We will never forget her because she was more human than the crowd that was around her. You can tell that the attention is too much for her! She was sensitive and vulnerable and, like Harry, his mother always made her decisions with her heart

WTF?! Elizabeth was an astounding and remarkable woman! She was SHOT at in an assasination attempt during her public Dressage competition, and kept on riding. Di was emotionally unfit for royalty.
