Canonically speaking, Shamans are philosophically identical to Necromancers. Considering Necromancers are, as history has shown, balancers of life and death and not practitioners of evil. Look to the lore behind the Diablo series Necromancers. Essentially Shamans maintain order and balance in a similar fashion to Necromancers. At first glance they appear as polar opposites, but they are virtually one and the same. Just an observation from a random nobody online lol.

Well there are Dark shamans to take in consideration, plus, a shaman does not always need to ask for the elements aid, Tauren used to bind elements in their totems and slam them in the ground, scaring the elements and making the earth split. That is a form of dark shamanism. Just there are those so called "battle shamans" that are trained more into fighting.So my point is, that not all shamans "ask" elements, some choose will, dominance, or power display, making the elements follow them.

The Orc Shamans became Warlocks, because the elements abandoned them, because they disagreed, with the genocide of the Dreanei.(hope the sentence made sence)

@@mestupkid211986 Well, the light in it's more "restrained" form is just balance. Which is the essence of Shamanism - a balance of the natural order. Of course, the light has it's own share of problems, like when it becomes so powerful it gets oppressive, as we saw in the Illidan cinematic where he met that one N'aaru (forgot her name) and blasted it into scraps.

@@stankobarabata2406 you can also add in the mag'har recruitment quest where yrel and the light went on a crusade murdering and forcibly converting orcs and everyone else on draenor into light based beings.

I really do appreciate how close you keep the lore in your videos, I see so many comments saying "what if" as a hypothetical variation. Sticking to the lore keeps things withing a limit that is genuinely there. Cheers Doronsmovies, great job on keeping Lore the main comparison value or medium between powerlevels of classes.... but I'm rambling now, I'll stop lol. Great videos :)

I always had the feeling that it doesn't matter how powerful is your source overal in terms of class vs class, since no mortal can ever hope to fully grasp his mastery over it. So basically in other words it always comes down to who has the bigger potential himself rather than who can use the bigger force.

this actually got me thinking, in general, is a fireball thrown from a mage hotter or colder than one thrown by a shaman? Arcane is a very potent magic source, but Shaman fire is pulled straight from the elementals, thats like fresh from the tap had to say

I’ve always seen it as the arcane conjuring “artificial fire” I assume this fire is generally less potent than the true fire that someone like Ragnaros would wield. Of course any shaman wouldn’t be channeling his level of fire but it would be his all the same. I think it would take a massively powerful mage to go beyond most shaman’s pyrokinetic abilities.

I would add the fact that Enhancement Shamans actually efficent in melee combat. Not as skilled as an average Warrior ofc but good enough to fight against an average creature without the Enhancement. Wouldnt keep his/her ground against a demon tho, without the Enhancement.

You mention that on average most classes have rather weak people like a normal warrior but I'd say that the Death Knights, Demon Hunters and Necromancers on average have very powerful individuals. My question is that what class has the most powerful average joe? My bet is the Deathknights as they have more experience fighting in life and death throughout the many years they have been around. Unlike the Demon Hunters who from the very start had a limited pool to recruit from and very few years (recently) of experience.

I'd love to see a "How Powerful are Hunters?' Video! People seem to Underestimate them, but the Beast Masters are surprisingly Powerful

I always wondered if shamans would be able to breath fire. I know its weird, but I´m just interested in the limitations of a shamans abilities, if the elementals are working perfectly together with them...or if there is even a limitation. What do you think?

I wish my shaman felt powerful in game. I love slinging lightning and lava around though.

Just a fair heads up although whe it comes to a race's paragon fel and void are more potent than elements(I mean like a void corrupted naaru vs elemental lord( but when it comes to more toned down versions I wouldn't say that void and fel are stronger. Although fel is stronger we also had times where elemental magic was used to actually cleanse fel--And in broken shores we actually used a water elemental to topple down a whole Legion base dosing of fel magic and fel fires as well. +The element of spirit is also quite strong. Look at draenor for example, life element made it so there were giant spore mounds that could defeat a massive stone giant that was made by a titan personally. :P

@taco power you realize that the elements are weaker in thrall now, due to how he killed garrosh. that's why all shamans were able to get doomhammer, because it wouldn't work for him anymore.

Its because he feels regretful about what happened, not about how he killed him. he always wonders if he could have done better job. IMO he reminded Garrosh often enough, he just didnt listen. Thrall will regain his powers in time, he was the first fell orc to become a shaman afterall. Likes of Guldan are nothing to him, he can spite people like him 24/7.

You are somewhat incorrect in regards to Druids. They don't draw on powers in identical ways. Shamans draw power from the elements, whereas Druids draw power from the planet itself. They sound similar, but are different.

DrumsandOther The answer to that lies in the lore of WoW. The Elementals are mere manifistations of things such as the earth and the wind. They are representations, not the actual thing. Otherwise the planet would consist of nothing but elemental spirits. Druids communicate with the Planet, and the Titan Spirit within (Azeroth is her name). Shamans communicate with the elemental spirits. They overlap at times (Thrall can make the earth tear open by asking the elements to do so, but so can druids as shown when Malfurion does it in War of the ancients), but the source of their power and what they do is still mostly separate.

Shamans are basically avatars (Avatar the last airbender) with a twist of their powers relying on mood of the elemental lords

If you think about it, a shaman could technically defeat warlocks, mages etc. by way of hand to hand combat. Orgrim Doomhammer almost wiped out the entire shadow council and gul dan only survived through pleading for his life. But if you ask me any class is able to beat any class some way or another, and only few are definitively weaker than others. Keep in mind this is just my opinion on the matter, to me, shamans should be able to defeat rogues or warriors easily , whereas paladins, dks or demon hunters would make for a well fought battle and spellcasters (except for maybe priests) are situational, i mean whats a mage (with the in game abilities) going to do when you swing doomhammer in their face? Die thats what

One little detail. Shamans don't need to use their own energy to cast spells like mages/warlocks/shadow priests. They borrow the power. It's explained in Lord of the Clans.

I dont think shadow priests use thier own energy or resources since they channel the destructive power of the void itself. The only limitation if one could call it that is that shadow priests have to manage thier insanity. Too much and they lose complete control. Honestly I wish the shadow priest wasn't apart of the priest class and just a class all on its own. It would have made for a better legion class hall and class story over the underwhelming and disappointing one they got as the Robin to the paladins batman.

I bundle them up mainly with melee classes, but I do know there is much more beyond that. The hunters have so many different subclasses. I will talk about the specific in their own video.

Hmm funny thing if the Light and the Void are the two fundamental forces of the cosmos, doesn't this mean that a Light/Void user in his full potential would be far above the other classes? Don't underestimate old Velen, there is a Gandalf the White sleeping inside him waiting for the Argus expansion to wake up....

+Doronsmovies Hmm thas open to discussion in WotLK we have the Crusader's Binderbard something were the Naaru and the Light intervenes and saves him from being turned to a ghoul and sends him to and they say that the Light never trully abandons no one. Even Tirion although his time had come in the DK quest we have a Divine intrve!ntion on his behalf. The zealots like the Scarlet's can use the Light but not in the scale that the boy scouts of Wow do ( Velen, Turalyon, Tirion, Alexandros) which pull tremendous feats with Light ex machina in difficult situations. Love your videos by the way...xD.

The reason why there are Draenei shamans is that light abandoned the Broken Draenei. After Nobundo became Broken Light refused to answer him. "Every day he would walk to the peak of a mountain and sit, praying, hoping, to somehow regain his mastery over the Light and that his nightmares would finally end. Countless times he did this, but would always go back to the Broken camps disappointed. Though one day, when his prayer was finally answered, no heavenly voice told him what to do, nor did a naaru descend from on high to aid him. No, Nobundo's prayers were answered by the Wind. "

In game obviously a DK can beat out a Shaman, lore wise not so much. These videos speak lore wise not gameplay wise so if you see something that wouldn't make sense in game it's because they're not talking about gameplay itself.

where are you geting your facts from. if the shaman uses elemental magic on a dk the dk's seranight armour will help protect him let alown the defensive spells. and even if the shaman tryed to fight the dk hand to hand it wouldnt work because arthas made the death knights to be one of the best hand to hand fighters. lore wise the only classes who can kill a dk would be users of the light and demon hunters.

But that would actually make the dk heavily item reliant as opposed to them using their own strength. A dk's power is also heavily concentrated on their runeblades, without it, most of them can't fight. The dk saronite armor is also made from the blood of Yogg Saron, an entity foreign to undead. And Saronite armor is hardly indestructible not to mention there can also be gaps in their armor. I highly doubt the average saronite armor can take on collateral damage capable of leveling buildings.

KazeRV Well, Thrall had to deal with the Alliance, go to Nagrand and slay some orgres, and the elements in Outland are not the same in Azeroth.

I despise monks but with my limited, and I mean very limited, understanding of monks they could be better against someone like warrior or hunter, also agains weaker casters more experienced monks could have better time then other non magical classes. I se them like lesser and weaker abomination brothers of deamon hunters with their somewhat increased speed and manuvarbility.

what the literal fuck, i have never had one of my spells not work because of a zone, secondly the fight between garrosh and thrall, yes thrall won. but because of how he won the elements no longer hear his calls. he is basically a warrior now. that was a really piss poor example. i think what you are talking about is npcs, not actual characters. spells do not get stronger or weaker based on the zone.

shamans could defo rip any other class apart, there is not much you can do when struck by lightning, earthquake or impaled entirely on an earthen spike, just take an example from the highmountain tauren quest chain. ;p Though admittedly, their power is entirely dependent on the elements themselves.

It's not elemental water, it's conjured water but if near a source of water they can do it. But, at the same time be able to do it without water near them. Similar to how they can conjure food, drink, fire, etc. It's just Conjuration I believe.

In my opinion it is not exactly water elements in nature, but more like contructed animated golem like being in a form of water. Their power is limited to their creators, while shamans can call "REAL" water elemental and each one of them can have different powers

the problem with the thrall vs garrosh fight, thrall lost the ability to commune with the elements. because of how he took garrosh's life. so yeah i am guessing that's not a good thing, i get that it was mok'gura. but still.

Shamans are so powerful that they literally shaped how world of Warcraft operates. Everytime something becomes absurdly overpowered, it's usually because of a shaman. 2 handed weapons, dual caster weapons, caster on melee gear, melee on caster gear, resistances to name a few. Let's be honest, no other class has shaped Blizzards game more than shamans, and the constant nerfs are directly related to out of control shamans can get

I think that shamans would be best used as weapon agains armies like footsoldiers, felguard, etc. than they would be agains some individual because they power is very dependable on elements. While someone like mage could maybe have a better time dealing agains stronger individuals like generals or someone like that shamans could use things like waves, earthquakes, storms, etc. and deal big blows to the enemy that way. Maybe I'm wrong but this is how I understod how classes work here in WoW.
