How Poetry Unlocked My Superpowers | Keenan Scott II | TED

Keenan Scott Il's passion for words, stories and superheroes fueled his journey to becoming a celebrated playwright, producer, director and actor. Showing how language can illuminate the superhero in all of us, Scott performs three spoken word pieces that seamlessly weave together literary devices like simile, assonance and slant rhyme, sharing the talent he's cultivated despite the obstacles (read: kryptonite).

After years of people trying to convince me I was stupid through junior high school because I was dyslexic, poetry helped me make it to honors English. It pushed me beyond my limitations and now I have an MFA in creative writing. Poetry is the language of the soul.

Poetry is a tool that turns expression into communication to those who listen, and sounds like sweet noise to those who don't. A good way to state facts in front of an audience containing both listeners and haters, because how can you hate a message presented this way? Perhaps poetry is how you stay safe while saying what others hate. Although admittedly none of what he said was necessarily controversial, just something that should be talked about more. Good stuff.

His poem is good, but still Shakespeare is far more better. Not to compare but poetry nowadays has different style. He is great for this era.
