MATERIALS LIST
Sand: 1 cubic yard of very coarse concrete sand for every 200 square feet of project. (3-40 lb. Bags per 10 sq. ft.)
Base Material: Vehicular Traffic: 1 cubic yard of crushed limestone or Reclaimed concrete (very fine) for every 80 square feet of project at 4 in. depth.
Pedestrian Traffic: 1-94 lb. Bag Portland Cement for each 30 sq. ft. of project for tiling into existing subgrade.
Edge Restraint: 1-94 lb. Bag of Portland Cement for every 25 feet of concrete Toe. Add the equivalent of a 3 to 1 ratio, sand to Portland, to your sand Order.

A HISTORY OF PAVING STONES
The Romans were the first to use hand-hewn paving stones. The 50,000-mile network of roads constructed by the Romans had to withstand heavy traffic and harsh conditions. Many of the paving-stone roads constructed by the Romans over 2,000 years ago are still in existence today.
During the extensive reconstruction of Europe following World War II, paving stones experienced a renaissance. Engineer Fritz Von Langsdorff developed a choice of shapes and integrated colors for concrete pavers that featured tremendous pressure resistance and low moisture content.
To enhance performance and ease of installation, the interlocking containment system was also perfected. Paving stones are hemmed in by a permanent edge restraint and placed in geometric patterns on a bed of sand over a compacted base. Small ribs on each paver maintain exact spacing so additional sand can be swept between joints before compacting to achieve lock-up.
Although concrete paver usage in the United States has not yet reached European, Canadian or Australian levels, rapid acceptance by design and engineering professionals has created a remarkable market for this type of paving over the last 20 years.
Typical pavers are engineered to endure at least 8,000 pounds of pressure per square inch-three times greater than the compressive strength of typical concrete flatwork.
Water absorption is rated at under five percent.
An experienced team using automated equipment can cover up to 5,000 square feet a day.
TYPICAL USES:
Walks, patios, driveways, roadways, airport holding areas for jets, parking lots, marinas, golf course cart paths, street medians, levees, industrial ports and hazardous waste stations.
Specially designed interlocking blocks are used to create retaining walls.
