How ONE Parable of Jesus HUMBLED Richard Dawkins

Richard Dawkins says that he prefers living in a Christian country, and that he considers himself a cultural Christian, even though he has spent decades attacking Christianity. Did Jesus predict that this would happen? Let's take a closer look at a fascinating parable.

We had a real life incident like this couple years back. There was a dispute between our water authority and the mayor of the capital over a section of land. The water authority had paperwork that it was theirs and began to install wells on it. The mayor complained (probably because it didn't look very attractive) and said it still belonged to the city and he wanted it to be a park. I'm in a different part of the country so this didn't affect me directly but I remember thinking, "Jeez mayor, even if the old paperwork turned out to be erroneous, shouldn't you be happy that the water supply for the people is being made more secure? If times get bad, won't this be more necessary than a park?"

Let the free market decide on how to clean water, and let the free market decide on its price." Haters hate people, more than they hate things.

Mustard trees are more like shrubs in that region. This parable is widely misunderstood. The greatness of the mustard tree is not its size but its propagation. It's a noxious weed to a landowner but to a peasant with nothing it's free mustard. The birds of the air in its branches are what spread the seed which is terrifying to the landowners (or in religious terms the Pharisees and the religious elite). It's terrifying to them, but for the peasant the birds are pretty and sing sweetly. The Kingdom of God provides for the lowest among us, but threatens the powerful. It spreads to any heart with fertile soil and the elites cannot control it. It makes a mockery of the elites and their hubris. This the last shall be first and the first shall be last.

You’re probably right in some regards. Because Christians-despite what he’s claimed his entire life-we are actually really generous and kind. We literally believe that you should show love to your enemies. And to pray for your enemies. To wish them goodwill. But basically in many other beliefs that type of thinking essentially doesn’t exist. So yeah, a guy who enjoys throwing barbs at people for not believing in the same things as him for a living-of course he’d be really unhappy about now living in a society where those of different beliefs don’t have the moral value of “love your enemy.” It’s ironic in a way too because he’s claimed that Christians restrict him so much but in reality we actually let people do anything they want except things like murder, stealing. But he’s always been completely free otherwise. Yet honestly even his own atheists as well aren’t fun to live with. Because essentially in an atheist society they too do not believe in “love your enemy.” And atheists actually do not all agree on the same things. So he wouldn’t like living under an atheist society either.

@@anastasiya256 That's simply not true. Fundamentalist Christians would've perhaps had their head chopped off if it meant standing up for Jesus Christ, but would never lay a finger on anybody, just look at periods 30-300 AD. Now, after that during the reign of "Christian nations", that is a completely different story that doesn't represent Christ Himself nor His teachings. Don't associate the religion with the people who practice it. Islam however, it is written in the Quran to do evil things and peaceful things; it bans adoption, and inherently good practice and allows slavery/higher taxes for non-Muslims; it claims the Bible and Torah are corrupted, and asks the members of Islam to verify Islamic teachings within the bounds of our scriptures; it labels your God as the best schemer/deceiver, a term commonly used for Satan; and lastly, Allah within Islam is only loving of those who believe in him according to the Quran, meaning in Islam, his love is unconditional, while in Christianity He loves all and hopes every sinner and unrighteous man/woman turn to Him and repent. In conclusion, don't try and point fingers. Christianity is, in teaching, perfect, as Christ is God. Nothing ever taught is ever evil, He even says "Whoever lives by the sword, perishes by it." in Matthew chapter 26. I pray you open your heart and look into His teachings in His Word's and not at people. He is truly God, who died for our sins and rose from the dead to assure His authority. @blakehogan, Hmm, Genesis 1:2 tells us the Spirit of "God" hovers over the waters which is also seen in Revelation 20:15 (as Acts 2 shows us what the Spirit of Truth erroneously called "Holy" Spirit or "Holy Ghost" looks like). John 4:24 tells us "God" is a Spirit, and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Genesis 1:26-28 told us that we were created in the image of "God" that I call the One True Creator. So if the One True Creator is the Spirit of Truth, I would say that even though you did not consciously seek the One True Creator's Spirit of Truth, your spirit did. There are a LOT of falsehoods being spread by the Spirit of Falsehood/Error/Lie erroneously called "AntiChrist" (1 John 4:1-6), and many will come to deceive you. The critical thoughts you had as an atheist continue to use that. Not all light that shine brilliantly is truly Light. I was indoctrinated as a Christian my entire life. At about 14 years old, I saw a Christian lady, about 40 years old, shoving little children out the entry way of a packed bus in the early 1990s to get on the packed public bus in Jamaica where I grew up. Jamaica is known for the most churches per square mile than any place else in the world, yet typically is within the top 5 most violent country out 195 countries when I researched back at the beginning of 2019. I stopped going to church for a little over 2 years in the early 1990s when I witnessed this woman's actions saying to myself that I did not want to be around hypocrites! I was 16 going on 17, when my spirit asked me what will I tell "God" on judgment day about why I didn't go to church anymore. I started going back to church 6 times out of the week, twice on Sundays. I was off from church only Tuesdays and Thursdays. I came to the U.S at almost age 19 and never really found a church family as the one I had in Jamaica that gave me great comfort as what was essentially an orphan. Fast forward to mid-30s, and my mother called to check on me to ensure I wasn't injured in London, England, where I was serving close to that area as a U.S. military medic. As the group ISIS took credit for it, my mother was confused as to why anyone would use "God" to harm others. I told her Christians did it as well, other than Saul before he converted to Paul in the Christian Bible. I asked her if she wanted me to research it and shared it with her, and she said yes. Needless to say, what I found was nasty, extremely nasty. I said if "God" exists, he is an evil bast@rd that should come down from where he is so I could kick him in the crotch where it really hurts😅🤣😂. I still held on to my "Jesus" though who died for my "sins."🤣🤣🤣 I kept researching, and when things started to get a little spooky where it seemed as though my "savior/saviour" was about to be torn away from me, I cowardly backed away November 2015. 11 Feb 2018, I was spiritually called to start seeking where I cowardly left off in November 2015. I have discovered many things which at first greatly disturbed me. I was Gung ho, ready to go face off scripturally with the Pope to free the world from them😮😂😂. Anyway, the more I seek, the more I realize how blind I was spiritually. On 9 Sep 2018, with 2,700+ hours of research 2 days shy of 7 months, I was freed from the blood sacrifice saved gospel. I knew who Babylon of Revelation 17-18 was on 26 Aug 2018. Spiritual revelation of the Second Beast/False Prophet automatically revealed the First Beast [erroneously thought by many to be the "AntiChrist"], which is what freed me on 9 Sep 2018. The Christian Bible has Truth in it that can only be revealed to you by the Spirit of Truth (John 14:26) only. Whatever the scribes and Pharisees have attempted to hide from us to keep us out of the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 23:13) will be REVEALED (Luke 8:17). Thank you for sharing your experience on here. I am using my Matthew 18:18 spoken words power to say, *may all truths be spiritually revealed to you so that you shall truly me free.*

We harp on Dawkins a lot, but he's simply a symptom of a larger problem. People in Christian countries, including me, grew up in churches were theology wasn't a full contact sport, not like it is today. It's no wonder that people, who'd only heard scripture being parroted back to them their whole lives, had no defense against atheism. Most pastors shouldn't have been pastors. The job entails a lot more than simply reading off some slides every sunday. It's not that they should've had all the answers. But they should've had *most* of the answers. Enough to establish confidence in the Bible among their congregation.

in the early church pastors were meant to be the tip of the spear of evangelism and the lay people were supposed to manage the church. This happens in foreign countries with few pastors. A single pastor may have 50 churches spread out over an entire area and it would take him ages to visit them all. He may visit once a year. So, the church has to manage itself. We are indeed wealthy and comfortable where most churches have at least one pastor and some many.

The problem was that we were totally reliant on pastors to get spiritually fed, and spent little time outside Church defending or reinforcing our beliefs. We weren't spending any time with Jesus. Worse still, we allowed all kinds of 'Bibles' to invade the Church and the home and weakened our arsenal of weapons. We forgot the advantage of the Protestant reformation. Without the Word of God, prayer, or the knowledge of our spiritual ancestry; we became weak and ineffective,, Laodicean in mindset. And the enemy only grew stronger.

John 4:13-14 Jesus said to her [the Samaritan woman he met at the well], “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

This reminds me of the Parable of the Tenants (Matthew 21:33-46; Mark 12:1-12; Luke 20:9-19), in which, a landowner rents out his vineyard to tenants. When the landowner sends servants to collect the fruit, the tenants mistreat and kill them. Finally, the landowner sends his son, whom the tenants also kill. Although this parable primarily refers to the religious leaders of Israel, in a broader sense, it vividly portrays the rejection of Jesus and His teachings by those who not only benefit from but also thrive in a society shaped by Christian values. We all know what the landowner did at the end of the parable. Nevertheless, Christians are called to pray for their enemies and I'm sure Richard Dawkins is in the prayers of many Christians.

Excellent commentary! Professor Donkey reminds me a Jew who said once: "I do believe that Jesus was able to change water into wine. However, I cannot belive that this wine was good." 😂 Beyond the layer of words with which we clumsily try to describe mystical images, the incredible energy of the Spirit of God shines through, flowing through spacetime, also through each of us, and gives us the strength to voluntarily act for the benefit of other people or the surrounding nature. Love is the hallmark of the people of the Messiah. It is seen in action rather than in talking. And it transforms us and the world we live in. And this happens regardless of how much evil multiplies on our lonely Way.🕎🇵🇱

@@wet-read If you ONLY knew what the world was really like prior to the Christianization of the Near East, Middle East, Europe, and everywhere else.... you would utterly despise that world and think that death is better. At least right away, but if you survived, you'd have to adapt and become as brutal and inhumane as everyone else. You'd learn what it is to live in a true dog eats dog world, where the strong do to everyone else whatever they want.

It's already happening. The concept of right and wrong, good a and evil is already disintegrating. And it's just going to be a free for all, everyone's desires will be the basis for their choices and standards. America's seems like its already being given over to itself by God. We need a good shaking and a humbling.

The strongest ideology will take over one that believes in might make right. So it would end up being a battle very much like in the Middle East. Socialism/Marxist ideology versus extreme Islam, all this kept in check by powerful, extremely wealthy individuals or corporations.
