When I don't have an adventure trail, I take Bruno (young Catahoula) to a park with playground equipment...he has learned over, under, through, slides, climb, negotiating uneven, suspended or wobbly obstacles and .. even helped a little girl not be afraid to climb. He also finds lost items for me . Your training videos have been amazing for us

My husband commented yesterday that every time I call the dogs they come running as fast as they can. I told him that it was because uncle Stony taught me to always do awesome and cool stuff. They know that coming to me when I call is always going to be a good thing, that something they love is going to happen. Thank you Uncle Stony for teaching us. My family is very happy as a consequence of following your training advice. Even the 4 yr old rescue dog, who came to us with many behavior issues is now a delight to be with, anywhere... after a year of following your training advice. It really is so simple if we put the time in, and do novel, interesting, and cool stuff... repetitively.

I don't own a dog right now but two dogs in my rural neighbourhood will often accompany me on my walks. I never treat them or fuss over them but they just like my company. They are both allowed to roam free by their owners so they could walk by themselves but they wait for me because it's more fun together.

Favourite school teacher used to say "you can do something fast or you can't do it right". Never any substitute for putting the work in!

I'm so glad you simplified dog training for us. It's easy to get caught up in all the dog training advice and get overwhelmed with the options when it's actually mostly about creating habits through repetition and proper socialization.

My dogs, when younger, loved the skate board park! Chasing a ball up and down the artificial hills, when kids were in school, was great fun to them.

Experienced this tonight On our walk. A wild and crazy Washing machine was sitting at the curb. Our almost 5 month lab wanted nothing to do with it. It was fun. It's now his Best friend.

For four years I’ve been constantly saying to myself, “what would Stonnie do?”. Life ain’t perfect with my Dutchie. We have mistakes and regrets but you’re style of training works for my family. Thank you Stonnie. Glad your back.

i found your channel about 4 weeks ago and have totally enjoyed the videos. Today while out with my doodle who's learning to be confident, I was looking for things that would be fun and interesting to him. Sure enough I was able to find a few new items int he environment that he had never navigated before. He bravely went over them Thanks for all of the info and training tips.

I live in an urban area and occasionally on weekend mornings take the dog and a skateboard to a quiet industrial parkway. There’s plenty of excitement to be had there. We’ve run into groundhogs, deer, even a turkey!

I’ve loved taking my puppy on adventures daily, it’s been hard not doing as much while I wait for her to heal from being spayed. Half way!

Great advice! It’s the difference between looking at walking your dog as a chore that neither of you will enjoy or the very best part of your day that you get absolutely addicted to.

Thanks Uncle Stonnie. My Wpg got injured last week in the pond and I’ve had to limit his movement and no swimming. But we still go walking and retrieving, just on a smaller scale. Your advice is much appreciated.

According to this my Cane Corso must be a wrong 'un. She's a breeze off leash: reliably obedient, sticks around, is sociable with dogs and ignores people. BUT she's risky on-leash as she can pull me over whenever she feels like it. I'll seriously consider your tips!

A fun tip for anyone looking for local adventures, open google maps and look for large green patches in your area and just walk over. I Discovered so many parks, forests and trails that I never knew existited just a 10-20min walk from my place. If you have a car your options exponetially increase even within a 15 min drive.

All those puppies just got here. That’s what puppies look like when you exercise them and put them around a positive peer group. Once they settle in it’s just a matter gradually introducing your formal training.

What socialization and training would you do in the first few weeks of having a new puppy? The reason I ask is often times you have to wait for 2 more vaccines before recommended to go out exploring. I was looking for support while only able to work within the home and a small yard.

Amazing how dog training is so much like child training! Maybe I missed it, but I would like for you to have demonstrated the early days getting Bear (name?) to not pull at all. Along with the adventure ....you have to deal with the pulling...which is the big issue. On another subject....do you have opinions on not getting a dog neutered. I have a 10 month old Golden Retriever ....my vet agrees with me on choosing not to have him neutered. From articles I have read....it seems to be more and more approved by the vet community on health issues. Thoughts?

Bear is a beautiful doggo. I love how you’ve trained them to focus on you while on the leash. Bear constantly checks in with you. Your methods are excellent!

I love your perspective as it follows my own. Lol. However, I find myself at a loss with my almost 4 year old Great Pyr mix who I rescued. He is well behaved on the leash, but his recall is poor off leash due to the stimulation. Should I just keep hiking in the same areas for repetition and stimulus saturation??

What if the dog ignored you On the recall? Do you put him back on the leash? I love this cross he is so cute and handsome. I want one now

Hey Stonnie, any advice on how to train hunting dogs to behave better on hikes? My coonhounds want to follow every scent. We are doing nose work training too so I'm not sure I how much I should be able to expect.

Hey Stonnie, do you believe every breed of dog could be trained to be suitable to allow offleash hiking in the wilderness somewhere? Or do you think there are some breeds, like some sighthounds perhaps, who would always need a longline to be safe?

In my years of having dogs and I thought about it again as I watch you, why do dogs always walk on our left side when on a leash, it that just a right handed lifted handed thing or a instinct of the dog?

Stony where do you get your slip leashes from? Rolled leather or nylon?

My dog is fine on our leash walks until a squirrel or Turkey appears. Then the pulling won’t stop. “Look at me” or walking in a circle only gives a slight remedy.

Bad news - Yosemite is not very dog friendly 😂 Great video though!

Not true. My dogs are all great off leash because we’ve done it every day since they were tiny puppies. It’s on leash that we have issues because we got them in succession too quickly and my husband works away while I have physical issues so I can walk them daily at parks where they can free run but it’s difficult to get them the one on one leash training. I recommend letting dogs off leash from VERY YOUNG when they are small enough they can’t run away and so it’s easy to teach them. But I’ve also had no problems with rescue dogs off leash. I think people are too paranoid. And they don’t have a rapport with their dogs. And their dogs don’t respect them.

The only privilege I have is work privilege. Go back through my videos over the years and note how my whole family is always working; rain, snow, shine, heat, illness, etc…we put in the work in everyday. While we are working people like you are being fed nonsense by academics and politicians who steal from from productive elements of society to subsidize non productive elements and create captive voting blocs. The net result is an ever increasing number of net takers such as yourself whose jealousy, lack of ingenuity, poor work ethic, and dependence on the elite political class undermine our culture; civilization destroyers spreading chaos wherever you go.
