Another Shizuka food vlog...yay!

After trying okonomiyaki on a trip to Japan 2 years ago I make it at home now and it is different every time, I even made one on a camping trip using a sandwich maker and it turned out surprisingly well!

Shizuka is such a great host!!

I ate this in Hiroshima by chance and found it to be a pleasant surprise! Wasn’t expecting to encounter a delightful savory pancake, would love to partake of the tasty treat again someday

Wow, that looks so gooood!! I’m not living in Osaka , but recently I found a good Okonomiyaki restaurant near my place of work and became one of the new favorite restaurants.

Wow. Why are people not subscribing to this? 1 million, let's go!

Had an onomyiake in Little Tokyo in Los Angeles with fried udon noodles, veggies and sweet sauce that taste real tangy and delicious! The best Hiroshima style comfort food ill ever eat if I come to Japan!!!😋😊

Okonomiyaki is still one of my top 10 favorite foods of all time 🙏🙌 I even got decent recreations at home (as long as you have good ingredients). Great job with the vid! The staff seemed super friendly and Shizuka really flexed that culinary muscle! The pop up text bubbles were a great touch too. Keep it up!!

Looking forward to once more eat Okonomiyaki. Last time we were in Japan, we had a place where they served traditional Osaka Style, but also Tokyo Monjayaki style, so we tried both styles in Osaka.. Was really fun and great experience. And also had it a couple of times in Tokyo where we had our own tenpan and could make it at our table. Love communal food making. Keep up the good work.

I just discovered your channel yesterday and I must have watched twenty of them so far!!! I love it!! I have never tried Okonomiyaki, always wanted to try though. In Hawaii it's hard to find but I think I could find one. Aloha Shizuka!!!

Another superb Shizuka vlog ! Ericsurf6 would have made an excellent surprise guest for this Just to help finish everything ! I love Okonomoyaki 😊

If I ever have the spare cash for a griddle, I'm definitely trying this. Okonomiyaki hasn't made it to my part of Scotland and I'd love to try it.

My first (and unfortunately, only experience) I had with okonomiyaki was in Hawaii some years ago, so I can only speak about my experience with that. I absolutely devoured my seafood combo okonomiyaki in about 5 minutes AND I ate some of my sister's coz she was getting full. Looking forward to trying authentic ones from Japan soon!

I can't wait to go back to Japan and explore more outside of Tokyo. I had okonomiyaki whilst in Tokyo and whilst it was good, I think I would enjoy it more from the place that loves it more.

You should definitely visit Osaka :)

If Osaka-style Okonomiyaki and Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki are "brothers", then Monjayaki will probably be their long lost "uncle"! 😅 Maybe when @Japan by Food is back in Tokyo, they should bring Shizzy to a Monjayaki restaurant and show us what it is all about! 🤩 Originated from the industry area(shitamachi) of Tokyo during the Meiji Era, Monjayaki (or simply Monja) is made from just water, and a simple flour batter. Monjayaki are sold at popular children's candy shops(dagashiya) and when children come to buy their candies, they would practice their Kanji in the Monjayaki batter that was grilled on a cast iron pan. The name "Monjayaki(文字烧)" literally means “letters grilled”. Today's Monjayaki is a bit different though, unlike Okonomiyaki, Monjayaki is softer and the waiters/chefs(or yourself) usually cook the main ingredients first before pouring the Monjayaki batter into the center. When it is done, you will eat it with a spatula. A very unique Japanese experience! Let me know if Shizzy would love it!

I've heard many people say they get a very neutral or very reserved vibe from most of Tokyo but that in Osaka and other places it's more, laid back, I guess. Will have to experience for myself when I get the chance to go to Japan. So looking forward to it. Sadly 1 month won't be enough, maybe more like 2 years :-)

I had okonomiyaki in both osaka and hiroshima and although they are made differently they are both totally amazing,too close to call who does the better version..😀🇯🇵⛩

Missing Japan and its food. DAMN COVID

We do have our filipino version of okonomiyaki which is "okoy", a smaller one, and depends on available ingridients 😋🍽🍱🍛

Looks delicious. What is the mask wearing protocol over there in osaka? I notice you didn't have to wear a mask when inside the kitchen with the owner.

It's rare to see the younger generation to promote the old Japanese food foundations. It's going to be a dying tradition. Please promote on keeping this tradition ongoing

It’s actually commonly called “soul food” here in Japan so that’s what I’ve been calling it, but on further reflection, Japanese people may be misusing the word. Or, the phrase has a Japanese word origin that I’m unaware of and has been translated to “soul food”.
