    Another cool fact about the frame rate. They animated Spider-Man and all the other spider people in 24 frames, but miles in 12. It created a subconscious effect where miles looked more janky and not as fluid when he was webswinging to show that he wasn't used to it. As he grows into his own spider persona, they slowly increased the frame rate until he was animated at 24 frames, showing that he is in fact a spider man. Pretty cool, in my eyes

    Seriously??? Have you read the old school, pre movie comics??? Spider-Man is not in this movie. I don't remember him ever acting like Adam Sandler in the comics. They haven't really made a Spider-Man movie yet unless you include the first Garfield one which is mediocre but much closer to the comics than the others. (I can't even get 15 minutes into the second one it's so bad.) Homecoming is good though. Toby Maguire Spider-Man is a cuck. Honestly, Morales is a hyper token character, so I've never taken him seriously. That continued in this movie, so that part is accurate. He has potential, but he needs to be developed, and Bendis needs to be fired by Warner and DC before he ruins that company too.

    I don't think this guy understands animation…most animated movies use motion blur to make the action seen more realistic, but spider verse didn't care about about realism and wanted to look more like a comic book, so there ISN'T any motion blur…i think what bothered him is that the colors are slightly of from where they're supposed to be, which was also meant to replicate comic books

  • @kabobawsome

    @kabobawsome

    4 жыл бұрын

    Very late correction, but there is SOME motion blur in the movie, but it's rare and, as far as I can tell, was only added where it would look weird otherwise. I think what was bothering him was the weird depth of field effect they used, meant to replicate a specific type of printing common in comics.

    @@lamihadamshareef5270 no, seriously, it's distracting as hell. Rewatch scenes in the subway, or the big one sticking out in my head is when Miles is scared and goes back to his parents house after the death of Peter. Everything in his room is blurred to the point you can't tell what anything is aside from him and his parents. A lot of the film has doubling and artifacting, as an intended style choice. And it really harms the film. Some other things that will most definitely bother others with migraines is the strobe when dealing with the portal, and the animation. I like the animation. Its expressive, and cheap as they slashed the frame rate intentionally for that art style. However other people do notice and get headaches from it. So you've got a great film with intentional strobe, intentional blurred background, and intentionally doubling up on character frames, it's not unheard of that people would get splitting headaches. And I really hope the sequel takes somewhat of a step back from these choices to make it more accessible to viewers.

    But this Miles was a complete rewrite from the comics. Everyone has adapted Spider-Man using Miles as a semi-base for so long when it actually came to making his movie, they had to rewrite the whole character, and it made it fresh and so much more exciting to see than the actual Miles from the comics. I think he's average and written pretty similar to Peter Parker anyway.

I remember seeing an interview with a creative lead who said that the low framerate was intentional - that Miles is animated in 12FPS and Peter Parker is animated at 24 for smoother animation, and that as Miles comes into his powers he actually jumps up to 24FPS. It's kind of a subtle thing to show that he starts off clumsy and jaggy but matures and becomes more fluid and confident later on into the film. The animation team intentionally excluded any kind of blur/out of focus camera tricks, instead imitating the look of off-print comic books for areas that were supposed to be out of focus. His eyes were hurting _30 minutes_ after finishing the film? I have very sensitive vision, and yeah the animation was harsh on the eyes at times, but if they're actively hurting 30 minutes later then that's not the movie. That sounds like eye strain. Your eyes are tired from something else, or the way the movie was displayed was harmful (such as a backlit screen in a dark room). Not the animation.

  • @peeblekitty5780

    Also doing a review 30 minutes after watching a movie for the first time is really dumb. You're just going off of first impressions at that point. Let a movie sink in for a little while, give its writing, acting and animation a good look through, maybe rewatch once or twice to take in details, foreshadowing and pacing now that you know how it all goes. A bad first experience watching a movie due to eye strain or initial dislike of the franchise does not mean the movie itself is bad. Almost everyone I've heard talking about this movie mentions how beautiful and stylized the animation was, and the spider-man fans among them were super satisfied by the film.

A scene that's worth at most a smirk or maybe a little grin? LAUGHING OUT LOUD. Something so bad you need to take a walk for 5 minutes out of the cringe? LAUGHING OUT LOUD. A scene is building up heavy, scary atmosphere? MOANING IN FEAR AUDIBLY. A jumpscare? SCREAMING. Something is awesome? WOWING LOUDLY (is wowing even a word? I mean saying wow out loud). Not to mention people who have to comment everything to their friends. I hate watching movies in cinema. People suck. Either that, or I have a really bad luck when it comes to other moviegoers.

    rubbers3 Tge point of seeing movies on the theater is to share the experience with others who are also enjoying the movie. I don’t mind if someone laughs loudly, gasps, or whatever. I understand some people being extra loud or over exaggerating, but you are blowing it out of proportion. It’s fine that you don’t enjoy watching movies with other people, but you don’t need to get so mad about it and rant on KZread. I saw spider verse last week, and the experience was bad because someone next to me was constantly talking with their friend, laughing very loudly during quiet emotional scenes, and being a general nuisance. That happens sometimes. It’s understandable to be mad about that. But don’t get mad say people for laughing at a joke you didn’t find funny. That’s ridiculous.

    Reduced costs? Lol no. The producers say the reduced framerate approach “2/1 animation” actually made their life a lot harder because standard CGI pipeline is designed for full frame rate animation. They had to overcome big, technical challenges to pull it off. And at times, they didn’t do 2/1, like the swan dive off the building you show a couple of times - that’s full frame rate because it’s meant to be beautiful and “flowy”. I think spider Gwen might also often be full frame rate because she’s meant to be more graceful. Anyway. /nerd

    "it hurt my eyes" "it was Blury when they were moving". Theres a few possible reasons for that mate. A. You're short sighted, and all the bright colours and dark room of the cinema was too much for them. B. You're slightly epileptic, not enough for seizures, but bright flashing lights can cause you're eyes to lose focus. C. You're colour blind? (bit of a stretch) but perhaps the visuals being all kinds of different colours caused problems for your brain. There are people who are colour blind and when they look at two specific colours next each other it can make they're eyes lose focus

    I think Spiderman Into the Spiderverse has a problem where they do not mention about the epileptic scenes. TBH the film overall was great, the ending seems far too short but I really liked it. BUT MY GOD, THE FLASHING COLOURS WAS PAIN! I understand that it was the film's direction and artstyle but a warning would've been extremely helpful considering that other movies, that don't use as much flashing Special Effects as this movie, do put warnings for flashing lights and epileptic seizures. EDIT: But I do want to say that yeah, it is somewhat my fault as the trailers do show the flashing colours as a design choice and I should've taken notice that it would translate into the movie but I stand by my opinion that a "WARNING, EPILEPTIC SCENES INCOMING" popping up on the screen before the movie premiered would've been appreciated.

    As far as I have read or heard, The FPS wasn't reduced because of the cost. It was supposed to mimic a comic flip book style animation. Plus, If you really notice the FPS is different for Miles and different for Peter. That shows that peter as the more experienced spiderman, was more fluid in his movements and miles as he was just learning, wasn't. which later changes as he starts to believe in himself and becomes the spiderman, his FPS increases which can be seen in the fight scenes. so apart from their normal scenes where they aren't fighting, the FPS is better and on the other scenes its low.

    Zachary Robertson I don’t know how much it would affect costs, since the film was animated in 24, whereas some characters were animated in 12 frames over 24 frames. I thought/heard that this was a stylistic choice (Miles animated at 12 at the start of the movie, animated at 24 near the end, going from clunky movement to smooth movement). A quick comment about the filming of the video that was being commented on in this video: the entire scene is made up of dull-ish, warm colors except for the bright, cool colors of the Seven poster (and the top of the Spiderverse poster) that also takes up a lot of space. Because it has a completely different color pallet, and especially because that pallet is more vibrant, it draws the eye there instead of to the person talking. So, a tip to anybody making anything meant to be looked at (such as a video or a painting): either keep your color pallet fairly consistent or only significantly change the areas you want the eye drawn to, otherwise people won't be looking where you want them to. Edit: I'm not saying that the poster wasn't intentionally the visual focus of the video (though I'm also not saying that it was). I only wanted to point it out since it kept staring me in the face, and then realized that it might actually be helpful to some people.

    Loads of games run at lower then the general 30-60 fps, given allot can still be limited in how consistently they run at those rates. Animation on the other hand did for a long time run in just 12, unless it was Disney. These days much is still animated in 12 even when it plays in 24. With some research I found that while it can annoy people and not feel as smooth as something that runs at a higher rate, it is not inherently something that would strain your eyes and unless you have eye problems, that should be looked into. Lower fps is not the actual problem. So if this movie actually hurt him, so would other animated movies and series. Especially older ones. Unless this is some problem that he was just discovering, it's pure bullshit. Also he hates cinemas and that is unrelated to his opinion of the movie.

    Into the Spider-Verse is my favorite film ever made, I have watched it around 5 times in the past few months. And I personally felt minor eye-pain and nausea while watching it, but ONLY in theatres. I think it was less of the animation and more the screen size of the cinema. Which certainly could be Floopynoop's problem as well. I dunno just felt like giving my two cents

    Just want to say before anything that I completely agree with you and absolutely adored ITSV, and commenting here a year after you posted this video won't change anything, and it's not the point of my comment - I was just wondering for a while what SC Reviews meant about his eyes, but then I remembered that when I first watched the movie, I had a weird sensation during the beginning of the movie and couldn't quite place what it was! I realised after a few minutes that my eyes couldn't quite focus at first because the movie uses a super cool technique where instead of blurring the background like a normal camera lens would, they use "chromatic aberration" (fancy word meaning they split the red and blue channels of the image so it looks like the blue is bleeding slightly on one side of the image and the red is bleeding a bit on the other side, like if you watched a 3D movie without 3D glasses). So the part of image that is in focus (the character f. example) will be completely normal and look sharp, and the further you go in the distance (where the image would be the most blurred in a normal movie), is where the split will appear the most. This is something we've never seen before in animation or regular live action films, and so my brain and eyes were a bit confused and during the first 5 minutes of the movie, I had a bit of a hard time "reading" the images correctly, and it felt "blurry" because my brain was looking for blur and not finding it ahah. After that though, my eyes got used to it and it didn't cause me any problem, and still didn't when I rewatched it the 4 next times ahah. I think maybe that's what SC Reviews was trying to explain (maybe he just has an allergy to original animation, too), but as a lot of "rant videos" go, went straight for the super dramatic take and exaggerated everything, when he was just probably not able to pinpoint what made "his eyes hurt". Anyway, again, not trying to give him benefit of the doubt or make him right because I disagree with his rant and have no problem with ITSV, just thought I'd share my experience as well ahah Great video! Take care! ITVS ROCKS

    "Do I agree with that 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes?" That's... not how Rotten Tomatoes work. RT simply shows you the percentage of positive versus negative reviews of a movie to gauge general critic response. You can't 'disagree' with it, because there's nothing to disagree with here, it's just statistics - it doesn't mean a movie was good or bad - it just means how it was received by critics. It's as if I said that I 'disagree" with idk, Trump approval ratings. I can disagree with people who approve of Trump, but I can't disagree with the ratings because that's just a scientific (statistics is science) fact. Arguing with facts is something flat earthers and other assorted morons do.

    At most, you can argue that the numbers shouldn't be as good, but ... most people don't know enough about the methodology for that. And given that Rotten Tomatoes has a pretty airtight methodlogy (take a list of reviews, determine if negative or positive, and sum the positive reviews and all the reviews and do the division.) like ... what?

  • @ShinoSarna

    @ShinoSarna

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@suddenllybah Actually I would argue that RT methodology has one flaw - average movies. There is no 'average' setting on the Tomatometer, so movies that are just below average, and movies that are just above average can have wildly differing scores. For example, if we look at average ratings, Suicide Squad (I'm not denying it's a bad movie, bear with me) has 4.8/10, while Avengers Age of Ultron has 6.7/10 - so it seems the actual gap in their critical reception is much smaller than the difference between their Tomatometer scores (27% vs 75%) would suggest. Personally, I think a way to fix that would be to have three ratings - in addition to 'positive' and 'negative', make it so that reviews between 2.5 and 3.5 stars count as 'average' and bring the score closer to 50%. Of course, that flaw is 'fixed' if you simply don't treat Tomatometer as a perfect oracle of movie quality, and do what I just did in this comment, and also look at average review score, which is helpfully there on every page, right below the review percentage. So it's a pretty tiny flaw, as long as you treat Rotten Tomatoes for what it is - a tool for aggregating reviews and audience opinions.

    @@ShinoSarna Eh, people tend toward strong emotional reactions, and honestly, if the movie is average, I expect it to have roughly 50/50 split, because of thst.

    Or you can do as I do and stop visiting Rotten Tomatoes entirely before watching a movie. Rotten Tomatoes shouldn't be treated as the be all end all answer to what movie you should watch or is or isn't good. Just because according to Rotten Tomatoes a movie is apparently "fresh" or "rotten" doesn't mean you will by default enjoy or dislike the movie. Rotten Tomatoes has a high chance of tempering with your expectations. What happened to me was that I lowered my expectations for movies labeled as "bad" like Suicide Squad and I enjoyed it. Probably would have enjoyed it anyway. A movie labeled as "good" like Wonder Woman gave me high expectations, which ended up somewhat disapointing me, since I was expecting better, though I did still enjoy the movie. I stopped visiting these sites, because I wanted to watch a movie without any public opinion tampering with my expectations. Turn your expectations off, watch the movie with an open mind and then you get to say if you truly enjoyed the movie or not.

    One of the three friends I sae this movie with in theater did say it hurt her eyes to watch it throughout the whole film. She also said parts of it made her feel motion sick and she attributed it to the misprinted color effect that the film uses as a sort of alternative focus rack... Parts of the movie where focus shifts, like in the car when his dad points out the new cafe, made her eyes hurt, even when the shifting and motion in the scene was rather slow. The parts where the shifting was faster like in the hall when he's noticing people staring at him, were proprtionately more difficult to watch for her. She was also the only one out of the 4 of us who wears glasses (and had them on the whole time). She doesn't like watching 3d movies because it hurts her eyes too and she said it felt kind of similar to that.
