Hi Laura, Always a pleasure to watch your videos. I am always eagerly waiting for them. Bye
I really follow some of the British Accent Teachers such as Smashing English, English with Lucy, Pronunciation with Emma...All of them are best ❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos, they are captivating ... and this one on morning routines is a funny one, which allows me to learn a lots of things, thank you
I’m a British speaker, and I’ve never said “draw the curtains” or “draw the blinds” to mean opening them. To me this means closing them. I would just say “open the curtains/blinds” because there’s no such word as “un-draw” as far as I know!

Thank you for the amazing lesson! QUESTION: so it’s better to say “I do exercise” instead of “exercises” or “some exercises”? Does the plural form sound unnatural/incorrect?
We also say the kettle is boiling / *çaydan qaynayır* 03.02.2023, 20:06
Excellent
I like your accent, it's very clear and understandable. Actually I like RP English accent. I'm from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for such a useful video. I always teach "go running" or "go swimming", I thought they were the most common way to mention those activities, One question: how do you say that you go "for a walk" (but as way of doing excercise, not "for a stroll")? Would that be "go footing"? Here in Argentina many people do that as their morning excercise routine.
I’m British (English actually, from Essex) My alarm goes off, I get up/drag myself out of bed, go downstairs, I pop the kettle on, wait til the kettle boils, make my coffee, have my breakfast, make my packed lunch. I then have a shower, get ready, do my hair, do my face, sort my bag, head out, drive to work. (I do not exercise/meditate 😂) I don’t ‘leave’ I head out or head off. I don’t commute to work, I drive or it’s my run to work (= drive, I don’t ever run unless something is chasing me 😂)
i started watching your videos, and i can't stop , you are fantastic teacher and wonderful girls , nice jo, see you there , Daniel from Milan

My favourite Eng teacher. Respect and kindness to you. However, I have a small note. I hope you make more " 2 person conversations" when you speak as your real daily routine in terms of speed and vocabulary. They are so useful. " Regards"
Love you ❤

Excellent video!! Very useful, truly!! I've never heard "commute" before. Is it a regionalism o sth like that?
@CaptainSiCo
Жыл бұрын
No, it’s very common across the UK and English-speaking countries. A job interviewer may ask “How far are you prepared to commute?”

You are the best British youchuba
Laura, wow, I grew up in "Silicon Valley", part of "the San Francisco Bay Area", and even I learned something from your video already. I wasn't familiar with "present simple" tense....I'm sure it was taught in school at some point, but I had long since forgotten!! So I have a question for you, how would a British subject describe Marina Sirtis's accent in Star Trek: The Next Generation? If you watch videos of her outside of ST, it's clear that she modified her accent on the show, perhaps trying to sound "exotic"? Patrick Stewart's is "Received Pronunciation" aka "posh", yes? I feel like maybe Sirtis's accent is closer to "cockney" but when she's playing LCDR Troi her accent is different! I'm not sure what the name for that accent would be! I do notice that your voice sounds a LOT like hers! 🙂
Interesting and helpful video Laura. Thanks a lot
Here's mine: Open my eyes. Try not to freeze. Open Facebook and communicate with my friends. Read my local news. Check Days Of The Year. Wait for my housemates to get up. Rise out of bed. Hit the shower, brush my teeth, wash my face. Walk to the kitchen for breakfast. Make coffee. Pour cereal. Microwave a corn dog (protein and carbs are impirtant). Say Grace. Have breakfast. Inhale coffee (NOT LITERALLY). Enjoy cereal. Talk to housemates until they leave for work. Clean my room. Read books on my Amazon Echo. Make phone calls. (Wednesdays/Sundays) Wait for the car to drive me to church. (Saturdays) Listen to NPR podcasts for 3 hours.
❤❤❤
Let's practice together guys
It would be great to have a teacher like you and Berwyn. However, neither you nor Berwyn are available on Italki. Do you educate on another online platform?
Thank you! What can we call this comfy thing you put on at the beginning of the video? :)

The official name is an Oodie I believe! But that’s a brand name, so I would call it a big hoodie or a fluffy hoodie. To be honest, in our house we call them Marshmallows because we don’t know what else to call them! 😂

I think you can use “take my coffee” if you describe how you like your coffee. “I take my coffee with cream and sugar”
@neutrino78x
Жыл бұрын
Correct, yes we native speakers say that all the time 🙂 (I am from USA.)
" I this video I heard her saying " I see if anyone has text me or tried to call me"? Does that make sense grammatically? Or she got wrong and it should be like " I see if anyone has texted me or tried to call me ". Which one is correct? Please let me know. Thanks 😊
I drink tea or I have tea or coffee? Which one is correct?

Other common mistakes similar to the "take my coffee" mistake could be "I have 20 yeas old" instead of "I am 20 yeas old" and "I have hunger" instead of "I am hungry"
@neutrino78x

indeed, in French one would say "j'ai 45 ans" meaning literally "I have 45 years". But in English, "I am 45 years old." 🙂
Hi Laura, One question. Normally we brush our teeth before eating breakfast in China. I want to know it's your habit or everyone's in British.

Thank you for your videos. I know this is off the subject but I was keen to comment on your "The 5 hardest British accents to understand" and your comments are turned off. My comment was on an observation that if a person understands the Glasgow accent they can understand the other dialects. Glaswegian accent is unique and nothing like any other Scottish accent. Glaswegian is badly corrupted English. Most others have basis in Doric with smatterings of Gaelic, Danish and French. The Northeast has the clearest English but in rural areas Doric is a strong influence.
Do the British people know that the electric kettle has been invented ?
How can u do all this things before going to the bathroom for pissing ???
First thing I do in the morning is try to figure out what day it is. Not to get too preachy, but you would be better off with more meditation and less social media.
I drag my body from the bed :)
4:00 this generational, Agatha Christie frequently talks about people "taking" their breakfast or tea.

You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life, ma'am 😭
Dont make your bed after getting up. You should fold the duvet back to let your mattress air out during the day. Also: condensation on your windows? Thats a big red flag! You are not ventilating your house properly.
