How Nardwuar Got Kurt Cobain’s Last Interview

Комедия

In January of 1994, Nardwuar got an interview with Nirvana. This would be Kurt Cobain's final interview. The question remains: How? The answer isn't as simple as it would seem.

Nardwuar is legitimately one of the most important people in music history. not in the sense that him or his bands were musical geniuses, but in the historical sense. the amount of archives of interviews, the nooks and crannies of their personality he's explored, the sheer amount of respect he's earned in the industry.. he might call himself the human napkin, but it's not for the times he's been spit on, but simply for the note taking you can do on one.

I really hope we get a Nardwaur doc that encapsulates EVERYTHING he did from beginning to now. Dude is such a rare enigma. He’s been doing it for the love of the art so long that you can watch the shift of artists reacting to him differently and change with the time. Dude just pursued the most honest way of trying to get the real version of an artist that was possible, which back was so unheard of, now it’s the thing you WANT a Nardwaur interview because you’ve made it, and he lets you know you’ve made it

Had loving family, adoring fans, a incredible career and making the dream of getting a interview come true. Whenever the talk of Kurts death comes up its sad, i felt sad, but then what you said made that feeling go away. I saw them in Toronto in 91 i think. We weren't expecting that kind of performance. @@javi__...a male musician does crazier shit than she and they’re praised for it. She’s just an aggressive punk rocker. A male musician has heroin problems and it’s sad, but a woman has them and it’s reason for disgust.

On tour with my band, we stopped to see Kurt’s house. Lemme tell you guys.., to experience the true raw emotions you feel while standing next to his house is unreal.

I just listened to the whole interview. This man Narduwar basically held Kurt hostage and there was no panic, no alarm, no fake emotion on the part of Kurt. That says a lot about who Nirvana were as human beings. They would give you the time of day.

Nardwuar is a Legend! But he did not realized Kurt´s last interview. His final one was with Madhouse magazine in April 1994, the month he died, and it´s one of the most compelling interviews I have ever seen.

I only recently came across Narduwar when watching a Slipknot interview couple month's back lol ( unless i somehow watched an interview years ago and didn't remember it) and gotta say love his energy for what he does and the immense research on them, but man that was a bittersweet ending. He got one of his dream come true wishes but man i don't know how I'd feel knowing that one of my idols that i got to meet takes his own life months later, happiness aside knowing he got to interview not only Kurt but the whole band together, but man he must've felt devastated knowing bout his passing after that. It's still a shame how many awesome musicians that have passed due to the angry disgusting demons known as depression and addiction. So many to name , so many we wished we could've helped 😢

Just my observation and thoughts; Courtney, and this is according to sources near her (even her own father mentions this), has always had an almost clairvoyant knack for picking stars out of a crowd... she reads people very well. Her father also claimed she had tested at an above average IQ, and she works this with her natural ability to charm people, to get what she wants out of them, which is subservience to some degree. After her first interview with Nardwuar, she likely determined at that time, or sometime shortly after that he would become a popular interviewer, and Courtney Love is notorious for developing and nurturing relationships with people within the media, news outlets, etc, she has contacts and friends in strategic places... And even more notorious for weaponizing her connections. So, yes, it was cool of her to take up for Nardwuar that day, when he was confronted by security, but likely she was looking at the bigger picture of quid pro quo, that she could collect on in a future date, if she needed. At any rate, regardless of how you feel about her, she is "Brilliant", to quote the little boy who got to meet Kurt on an airport tarmac, while exiting a plane (The kid exclaimed praise for Courtney, even to Kurt's surprise). Nardwuar indeed has become one of the most notable and legendary interviewers of our time.

As deep as that sounds, she probably just thought it would be fun. She was high as shit on heroin and said, "Whatever." I'm sure her father thought she was a special flower, but I haven't seen any evidence pointing to her being a savant of fame. All she did was cling to fame like a child onto a mother. Also, 50% of people in the world have an above average IQ. That's how averages work. She wasn't brilliant. She was a user and a burnout, and that's what her life has been, is, and always will be. Nice sentiment, though.

5:55 funfact, pretty sure the butthole surfers were high on LSD or smth that day. They didn't seem to take him seriously or gave pretty meaningless answers, but when Nardwuar mentioned the Bassists other band you could genuenily see that he was really flattered lol.
