I have met people who refuse to play chess if it is a top-down view on a screen. They have difficulty differentiating a 2D screen versus the perspective of a board IRL. Also, use of a mouse/ pad, is different, as well as the fact that you are not sitting across from your opponent, using a physical clock. The differences really present themselves when you actively experience both
