tbhstudying I found a tip You should try highlighting first then write I write down the things to see all the stuff In a lose paper then in notebook I repeat to remember and to highlight the things too but this doesn’t work for everyone

the difference is that Apple made the change to sell a solution to the problem they made themselves that happened to be more convenient than then past, while Muji.. just shot themselves in the foot. Honestly it’s kind of nonsensical that people have to express their hate towards apple on a *pen video*. Oh pleaaaase. Plus it’s been years since it happened by now, get over it. Maybe we should also shit on the history of all other brands because that makes sense and it will definitely change the past, right?

My muji sold the old retractable ones in packs of 6 to get rid of them so I stocked up haha

I have used the zebra sarasa clip pens for years now 😀 I have tried other brands but I always come back to it since my hands are more comfortable with it and my writing looks best while using it 💖

paperpirate i find the old 0.5 muji retractable smooth gel ones to be much wetter than zebra sarasa clip. sarasa was really scratchy (0.4mm). mujji was wetter and less scratchy. i used to refill my old sarasa with muji. guess now i’ll refill old muji with sarasa or energel.

Hey guys PSA the old style of gel pen is LITERALLY the zebra sarasa pens. They have the same exact pen shape, same exact grip, and the same ink, i think I heard somewhere they were from the same manufacturer!!

Buy a ton on amazon before someone resells higher on eBay

i actually just went to muji to try out the old retractables bc my friends had been getting on me and i found only the new ones :''((( (tho also for ppl who like colored pens like me these new ones have a great selection that shows up rly well (esp the gray and yellow) and it's a lot more consistent than the capped ones have been for me!)

the first 16 seconds was a work of art and a masterpiece i didn’t know i needed until now

The ink barrel inside the new muji pen can be placed inside the old retractable pens with the grip!

I was going to recommend the pentel energel before I finished watching the whole vid, I see you really are a true connoisseur of pens lol. A pentel energel .5 needle tip refill inside a Sarasa pen body is one of my favorites.

I would lobe doing that honestly cuz energel is my fav ink too. Where i live, sarasa isn't available (so far). I put it in the g2 pen body... Works okay. Pentel Energel really needs to change their body!! No one likes it lol

I gasped because the thumbnail was aesthetically pleasing

I had just gotten some muji retractable pens a week ago and when I saw them, I was shocked because there were none of the original retractable pens anywhere. All they had were those new ones, and I was so confused because just a few days before that , saw the original ones. The original ones have an amazing grip and also have a much better design to them and don’t smear much while the new ones have no grip and smear a lot! I still like their mechanical pencils though. I’m glad they didn’t change those.

in addition to being more easily smudged, having a thicker or smoother ink flow also means it's going to run out faster because you're using more ink each time. dangit muji i'm sad >:(

I preferred the retractable gel pens over their regular gel pen because they were longer and had a GRIP! Oh and I preferred their retractable because it was not to juicy but didn't skip and gripped a tiny bit to the paper (in a good way)

They sell both of those in the London Oxford Street store. They sell the old ones as well as the new ones but I’m not sure if they’ve been taken out yet.

There’s noooo wayyyyy!! The old retractable pens are my go-to pen for life. I think that my muji sells both the old and new but i can’t really say because i haven’t been there in a long timeeee.

Since they replaced the old pen, I can also suggest Zebra Sarasa .5, it has been the best pen for me and its just like the old muji pen.

By the way, I definitely do not understand why they discontinued their old retractable gel pens.. I found the old muji dupes !!! 1) zebra sarasa - performs exactly like the old muji retractable, literally the only difference I’ve came across are the clips but it’s so so so similar I would call them exactly the same 2) mumuso (no not miniso lol) retractable gel pens. they look exactly the same but the ink is a bit scratchy.

About two months ago at the 5th Ave. Muji they had the new pens in the main display and packets of the old ones off on a shelf on the side. Also, the capped pens have also been changed. The new capped pen is overall fatter and shorter. The ink is also much wetter.

I would recommend keeping the old pen bodies so you still have the nice grips

You can put the ink cartridges of the new pens Into the body of the old ones!! It means you have old grip with them same ink! Basically the same as just replacing the Ink in the old one but you have an empty body of the new one :)

Those are my favourite pens too. Although I like the design of the new ones, I don't understand why they would change something already so good, especially making it worse as you showed in the video! 🤔

I just discovered this pen is discontinued as I always found it in my muji shop (now that I think of it in packs). It's the best pen to write in medical records whilst I am at work, and even an anaesthetist had it and said that they recommended it in a forum!!! Why would MUJI do thiiis?!?!??! I'm so glad you put alternatives at the end 😭😭😭

I went to a muji for the first time yesterday. I live in England and the closest muji is two hours away (in London). They still sell the old designs is multi packs however they only sell the new design in single pens. I really like the old design as it is similar to the Zebra sarasa Clip

I’m glad you are being honest unlike other people about the new pens! I feel like they might just be trying to make a retractable version of the capped ones? I’m not sure but I hope they still have the old ones too! I personally don’t like the capped ones bc they smear so much.

everyone's entitled to their own opinion abt the new pens, and i've only seen high praise for them so far ;; i've got the same opinion as you on the rt version of the capped pens bc it behaves the way i know the capped ones do. i think i might go back and repurchase a few to see if the ones i got were just a dud but yeah :(

You can actually use the new gel refill to the old muji grip pen which such a BLESSING

A good alternative are the Pentel energel in 0.5 and 0.7. if you like the look of the Muji ones their refills goes inside the muji berrel.

so I got the colored retractables and I don't have any smearing. It's kind of crazy. I like the new design because it looks like their other Muji pens. It's the only 0.5 pens that I actually like right now I mostly write with .38 because of it's smooth factor, but somehow Muji made it to where 0.5 writes so damn smooth

What I did when muji first did this was buy a ton of the new gel pens because I like the ink better and put the refills in the old ones because I liked the grip better and I still do that today and my muji lets you bring back old pens so they can use them to make new ones. So I was using the pens and recycling the old ones

In Muji UK, they were selling them in the packs of six. I bought a pack as well as two of the new pens in 0.5 and two brown refills in 0.5 also. To be honest I tried them both side by side and I like them both. I'll keep the old pen bodies and refill them with both the new inks and zebra Sarasa clip inks. It'll be sad to see them go😢 Also while I was there, I noticed they had changed the capped pens a bit as well but they still write the same, if not smoother.

I definitely agree, even though I’ve never owned a muji pen, and no expert in these pens, the new one is awful compared to the old one by the tests you ran. I’m also triggered by the fact that they replaced a good pen with a bad pen (lol 😆 )

I never used the retractable muji pen, but I feel your pain. I use the .38 capped one. If they discontinued that one, I would pass out.

My uncle bought me three RTs with the Blue-Black ink two years ago straight from Japan, and I've gone through about 50 refills using the three for the past two years. Sad to hear so late that they discontinued the whole lineup

To sort out the grip issue, could you remove the old grips to add to the new pens? I only use the cap gel 0.38 from Muji so don’t know if the grip is removable

Personally...i like the new one better than the original “old” one, because idk why but, the old one seems to get more dirty over time (the rubber grip)

I think it’s because the grips oxidize because of the sweat on your hand. I don’t know how to reverse it or stop it but that’s why. Maybe try baking soda?

Hi, I felt the same way. However, I recalled reading somewhere that the pens with the hinged clip were made by Zebra. I recommend two strategies: 1. Buy energel refills to replace depleted refills. 2. Buy new Sarasa Clip pens instead.

If you’re okay with the new ink for the new Muji retractable one and have a problem with the body. You can always just save the original Muji retractable body and just use the new ink and replace the used ink with the new one

I rushed to Muji here in Melbourne straight after tutor class after I saw your video. Luckily we still have the originals in stock, but they’re on clearance. Bought like 6 pens ( including some coloured one because why not ) and some refills.
