Hola! I was your age in Bali studying dance 4 months in a village in Ubud & thought i died & went to heaven! This was the 70s. Met another American & returned often to Bali & beyond to the Moluccas, Sulawesi, Borneo & Sumatra. Keep traveling, dreaming, lots of amazing cultures & food out there! 🙏

Hola Veronica! 1st trip stayed in Ubud study Legong dance but went out every day, esp in Kuta @Made's Warung meeting place to go on day trips around island. Good experiences but did have a very bad one with a N African in Kintamani who stole my passport, camera & $ but contacted Peter @Made's Warung who helped me get bk 2 Kuta. #1 tip always make friends with local cafe(remember before net where i had to go telephone booth). My days & nights(6 mo) were filled with meeting locals & tourists. One meeting turned out so amazing where the locals(Chinese) hired a Balinese dance to perform at their home(15 people living at house). Another day met tourists & off we went to Java on the bus, stayed in Yogya(fab place) & met another American guy & off we went to Sumatra. Then i went home & returned 2 Indonesia & traveled solo 2 Sumba, Timor(6mo, had malaria) Sulawesi, Borneo, Moluccas, Asmat tribe in New Guinea(only place i've ever panicked with incessant, buzzing insect biting, and isolation). I practiced my Indonesian with locals in the outer islands at the airport, staying in small hotels and walking around. I was in Bali in Ubud 8 years ago & stayed in a small Balinese hotel for $15US & ate great good there and went to dance performances at night & markets in Denpasar and a couple of nights stayed at 3 brothers in Legian($25US). Lived in Hawaii so beach scene in Bali ok.Grew restless after 2 weeks & returned 2 CA. Understandable, u want 2 walk around & be where the action is & eat healthy food, yoga? liked your video describing the travelers/tourists/tubers, lack of spiritual, club culture & comparing housing. Looking forward 2 Columbia in all its glory: people, music, food & "the scene". When i return 2 Indo, Sulawesi & Lake Toba in Sumatra will be my picks. A couple of qs: did you meet any interesting people or have any memorable experiences? Keep the stories coming! 😎

Canguu is much more costly than other parts of Bali. Seminyak is much cheaper in monthly rental , but I guess it depends on your budget and your favourite places to stay . Canggu and Uluwatu are more exclusive . So too is Nusa dua Have you guys been to Thailand ?

100% agree with you. Canggu and Ulu are incredibly expensive. And Seminyak can be a bit cheaper for yearly rentals, but monthly are quite costly too. Thanks :)

Hey Kenneth! Do you mean the jungle places like those apartments that look like they should be on Architectural Digest? Or a super simple (and a bit run down) place in a more secluded/jungle area? Because the latter may be a bit cheaper, but I honestly doubt it can be that cheap.

When crew live in Dubai they start to crave nature so badly. Then they quit and move to south east asia or costa rica with the deam of a relaxing beach life with no standby or back to back flights. But after six months the reality of living in a third world country weighs on them, like the lack of infrastructure and lack of creature comforts. They went from living in free accomodation in Barsha to a hut in asia and it isnt at all what they expected. When you live in Dubai you feel wealthy even if youre not, but when you live in a third world country you start to feel poor even if you have money. Bali is great for a 2 week holiday once a year, but nothing beats living a comfortable life in Dubai. Every crew I know who resigned from EK wished they could move back to Dubai and live a comfortable life there. All I can say to them is you had a decade in Dubai when you were in your youthful prime, how did you not find and marry a man with "means" so you could be chilling today on a yacht out by the palm with a glass of Dom in your hand and without a worry in the world.

@@amindfulnomad I love your videos because it literally documents the exact process every crew goes through after resigning from Emirates. Even including the post resignation opportunity to rejoin within six months and not taking it. Uncanny. I wish you all the best. Hopefully we will see you down at JBR one day soon!

We can both agree that we see life differently. I understand that happiness means ‘millionaire husband’ to you, but it means something different to me. It doesn’t mean either of us are wrong 😉 However: imposing your truth as the “ultimate truth” isn’t something I can get onboard with, that’s all. But I do respect your POV. All the best to you, too.

Too many influencers, digital nomads, Russian runaways, disrespectful Australian tourists and wannabe youtubers increase demand for accommodation - hence rising prices. Not too hard to understand, is it?
