Negotiations are what I love doing what it comes to car purchases. I paid invoice price for my redeye which was absolutely amazing considering all dealerships are marking them up. So I agree with you, if you stick to your guns you will end up getting the deal you want. Congratulations my friend and enjoy!

Bought my brand new 2019 GT premium for $41k OTD. Sticker was $47.5k. It was optioned with the 401A package, A10 trans, Active exhaust, B&O, and Safe & Smart package. My advice would be to negotiate OTD price and not sticker price. Reason being, if you only negotiate sticker price, it leaves room for the dealership to add on additional fees to bump the cost back up to the price they want you to pay.

2020 Eco Premium. Bought Jan 31, 2021. MSRP $38,865. Paid $30,000 for the car after rebates/ negotiating not including taxes/ fees/ registration. About 23% off MSRP. I thought I did pretty well. It being a 2020 helped along with the last day of the month. All negotiations done online. Drove there and signed paperwork and drove off. No trade in. Used their financing for lower APR rate of 1.99% in lieu of my credit union's 2.99%.

I cannot echo enough how important it is to not negotiate based on monthly payment. If you are trying to use every last dollar and penny available for you on a car payment, you are looking at the wrong car anyway. Second, and this is the hardest one for me, you *have* to be willing to walk away. I don't mean as a negotiating tactic. It may turn out that you and the dealer simply cannot come to a deal, and the amount of negotiating room on the price varies widely by car model, location, and dealership. I have been in a situation where I needed to get a new car within a couple days because after an accident, I was without a car. That puts a lot of stress on a potential buyer. But for a car like a mustang (or camaro in my case), which is probably a second car (i.e. buying because you want it, not need it), you can always wait for deals. GM usually has 15% manufacture rebates on outgoing model years, and that's before any negotiating with the dealer (and don't let a dealer convince you that they are losing money from the rebate. The manufacture eats the cost of all rebates and incentives, not the dealership).

Damn I thought I got a good deal. I bought mine used with 39 hundred miles. 38k. I didn't plan on buying a car I was browsing 5.0s and came across the black on black premium and it was over. I didn't shop around. I had to have it. Lol.

My old 1977 ford truck I built in my garage runs the same quartermile time as this car so I think I'll just keep modifying what I have instead of spending this kind of money for a fast drag vehicle. Cool car though.

Wow, nice negotiating skills!! I probably could of got the dealer to shave off a few grand off my car since I went to my bank and had a check in my pocket. But yea, your right. I didn’t negotiate since I badly needed the car, and it didn’t have much for options on it, and still happy with the price I paid for it. Paying $28K for a 2017 Fusion Hybrid, had the car a year plus, and it is the best car I have ever owned. Totally love it. Definitely my next vehicle, I will be negotiating with them, get them to drop the price. I’m looking to get a truck in a few years, but don’t want to go over $45K. Hopefully I have your magic that day, and get them to shave $6K off the truck. Been looking at Chevy, Ford, GMC, Ram, Toyota, haven’t settled on one, just doing homework looking at those, and different options. I definitely want Navigation on it.

Oh, and definitely want a truck with 4 wheel drive. To have 2 vehicles. Car is only front wheel. And not looking to trade, but I got some years to think it over. Will take me about 2 more years to pay off my car, and then the truck buying can start.

You could also take advantage of the Xplan which saved me a additional 1k on my order. You can get the Xplan if you join Mustang club of America.
