“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.
Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.
Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.
Welcome to the Young Nails family!

    I am loving Melissa is becoming more and more regular in the videos!🥰 You add Greg, Tracey and Melissa's teachings and tutorials, YOU NEED NOT LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE, PERIOD! 🤷🏼‍♀️😁 I was watching others for about 2 years and I got the jist of sculpting and art, (no shade to others, I just find YN easiest for me to understand) But I could never get everything quite right.... even using tips instead of forms, lol....... Found YN, boom and my life has changed in the nail world, which boosted confidence in my whole life... I sculpt so well now, mostly I use hard gels, and I never use tips, just my personal preference, but you all and your products have done wonders for me, thank you😍🥰

    I think the charging per minute is very interesting. I know that not all nail art is equal and the prices should be different but there is so much that its hard to keep the pricing simple but still charge what your work is worth so that is something to think about. 🙂 that set is beautiful. Its inspiration for my next set for sure! I'll do it on myself though and get my husband to pay me for it. Ya think?? 🤣

    Thanks for this. Here’s what I don’t like about the concept of charging per minute for nail art. I feel like it opens a potential Pandora’s Box of problems. Some clients are going to get very antsy about being charged per minute and they are going to rush you along. Then, I can see some clients not being satisfied and claim that you worked too fast or you went too slow, etc. Further, I don’t want to be under the gun while I’m trying to create a beautiful design for my customer. That would be way anxiety inducing for me personally. I do understand that it may be an ideal set up for some nail techs, though.

    Just look up "palette knife" on Amazon.. they even sell sets of various sizes depending on your needs as it's primarily used for painters. I like to have more than 1 to use for different colors if you're trying to mix up alot quickly, instead of wiping after every swipe and a glitter one since glitter gets stuck sometimes. 🙂

    When you charge for the custom color mixing, is that because the client requested special colors? And, do you inform the client of the charge prior to the design? You have a special talent for nails, but you are also a very talented teacher.

    As a customer, if I want something custom, I ask for pricing up front. On the rare occasions I've forgotten, I've been told up front. Usually custom = more time, and we all know time is money

  • @Hbomb411

    @Hbomb411

    Imo, you should ALWAYS inform the client of the pricing up front or at least a very close ball-park figure. This should hopefully eliminate problems with folks who have a strict budget, those not be able to pay that much or others who flat our refuse to pay for all your extra services rendered when you've finished busting your butt on their nails. It's awful, but it unfortunately seems to be reality, especially, when taking new clients you don't know yet. Know your worth love, make sure they know it too 🥰😉
