It would be interesting to find out how much cash you could get out of a sim who only has starting funds. If you have high charisma you can ask for sizable loans. Can you bankrupt them?

I don’t think it’s actually possible. After the sim gets the small and large loans, the sim can’t ask again until they pay it back

I think the issue with the job thing is that the hired restaurant roles aren't actually a job that a played sim can have. Sort of like how you'll see all sorts of random sims in those food stalls but your sim can't work them. So I think once you switch over to playing a sim in a Dine Out restaurant career it technically doesn't exist

The sims lose 'automated' jobs when you start playing them - if they're a bartender, and you add them to your house, they're not a bartender any more. If you go visit a sim who works for you, and ask them their career, they will tell you they work for whatever job you gave them, but once they're 'activated' as a played sim, they lose the job. It's weird.

Merediths skill in cooking , mixology and gourmet cooking were affected by her working in the restaurant

Yes, do it in Sims 2! And I think Sims 3 would be fun too just to have a full comparison.

From what I remeber the sims 2 open for business will say a sim is emoloyeed but I don't remember if it'll show what exactly their title is and it randomly generates it as a 9am-5pm job.

Fun to watch. I knew how some of this would end cause I play rotationally and while I wasn’t playing Dina Caliente she got ripped as she was always at the gym when my sim was there. Any jobs you can’t find in the job listing are only for unplayed NPCs, so the second they become “played” they don’t have that job which sucks. But they will keep SKILLS even if the job gets dropped. I also have same age clubs for kids in the same generation in my rotation so I’ll like have a bunch of Sim kids together doing homework or skill building in a group and when I rotate to another family I will see skill advancement and occasional boost in grades. What sucks is no one goes to work/school when you are not playing them. And jobs (like being a chef in Dine Out or Cashier in a Retail store) aren’t real and just being filled by the game so while you can give Sims money as a gift, the actual salary you pay out to employees isn’t going to anyone. It just disappears into thin air after being deducted from your business funds). I wish the jobs were real and you actually could apply to be a chef or cashier at a Sims store/restaurant. It makes the world feel more real/connected. I remember having a Sim who was in the Police Career in Sims 2 and occasionally he would show up as the policeman for a burglar event or to bring a teen who had snuck out home when I wasn’t playing his household. The closest thing I’ve had to that in Sims 4 is the hospital where my Sim in the Doctor career was at the hospital when the family I was playing at the time (not her household) came to deliver their baby. i love running into my sims out in the world, eapecially when their jobs in the community stay consistent.

Definitely do it for Sims 2. I'm pretty sure the hired job will override any existing career the Sim has too!

I have found that neighbourhood stories will give your played household sims promotions and new jobs if your active household sims approve when asked. I wonder if Meredith was already a played household before you employed her would make a difference?

Would be interesting to see if the pop ups about dating, friendships etc impact other Sims bonds. If a sim asks you should they go on a date, you say yes, and it goes well, does that sim get a romantic increase with their date?

in my experience it does, although it's kind of a small pink bar. one time a sim i wasn't playing as had a "date" with another npc and i later moved them in together thinking they were a couple... i went to play as that household and they barely had a romance bar lol

maybe the job title didn’t appear in her career bar because being an active chef is not a career option in ts4. i mean you can be in the culinary path but the way dine out and base game chef career works definitely makes them two different options. so maybe that’s why the game doesn’t register this active job as a career

I'd like to see you try the same thing in both Sims 2 and Sims 3

in my game, i married my repair technician positively knowing she would lose her job after. but out of a bug after adding her into the family from the post-wedding prompt, she still keeps her job. it even says technician in her career panel and that she works EVERYDAY from 8am to 2am. so i basically never see her at all throughout the day. how i know its a bug is because her needs panel is completely blank. so theres no way for me to care for her.

I knew the skill-building thing would work because I once made a painting sweatshop with random Sims, and I could tell their painting skill was going up because their paintings kept getting better and some of them went from painting poor quality paintings to painting masterpieces. I made SO MUCH MONEY! 😆

Actually when you switched to her household you made her a played sim so she'd retain skills, relationships, etc. I remember having a club where my sim was good friend with everyone. However when I switched control to one of the members for the first time, I found that my sim was the only one in the club that appeared on her relationship panel. She didnt know the rest of the club even though they'd had several gatherings before.

Please do this with the Sims 2. I love your experiments!

on the sims 2 i hired someone from another family in my neighbourhood to work in my salon, i went to the hired sims house and their job was an "employee" and their work hours are 9-5 monday-friday. if u hire a teen for ur business they do like 4-7 or something

it's sad that we are surprised when the game actually works for us and our sims build skills when they're in a club to build skills. the sims 2 will probably be a lot more impactful on the lives of the other sims especially being that you can see their wants and fears and complete or fail them to make their aspiration meter go up or down you could make the sim go mad from aspiration failure and that would be cool to see plus the cutscenes in the game and small details the sims 2 has soul and feels alive especially after you've been playing the sims 4 a while. sims feel lifeless in this game compared to sims 2 and so many things factor into your sims lives and interpersonal relationships. i would love to see a video on the sims 2!!

You should definitely do this in Sims 2, and if you have 3, to see it there, too.

Pictures do show up in other’s inventory, or maybe it’s when both households are played households you affect the other household.

Unplayed will have the photos. My Don Lothario has children with five different women. Whenever the kids age up I give them a makeover in CAS and update where they live. Anything he gives the kids or mothers that goes into there inventory is always there, even with me swapping them from unplayed to played repeatedly as the kids have been aging up.

It makes sense that the career doesn't work. Everything else is something that an npc can aquire, but there is no such thing as an active chef career, just a rabbit hole one. It would be cool though if giving them a job at your restaurant or store automatically gave them a chef or sales associate career though, but I guess EA disagrees. It would be interesting to see if sims hired get a wage by working daily at your restaurant, but since she only gained the 5 grand after working one day, it seems they don't.

The job thing is likely because it's tied to a pack (dine out) and ts4 team is notoriously lazy with their packs.

she lost her job bc you can't actually play as a chef, the "npc" jobs disappear once you go to play as that sim since you can't access those jobs as a player sim

the sims 2 works better wen you give a sim a job they have that job witch works with open for business

What happens if you do the same thing you did but don’t actually play that sim. If you just invite them to your household do they bring those things with them?

This one is cruel, but I noticed NPC Sims in the Sims 4 only usually seem to die of old age, I never get popups that sims die before old age. I'd be interested to see if you filled their houses with hazards and things that SHOULD kill them if you'd start getting pop ups of Sims dying before their time.
