Mike starts by discussing how he acquired the additional 340 acres, what that did to change his approach of hunting the River farm, and features that he keyed in on during the first year of hunting the property. Using the information and observations from that season, the property and his approach to hunting it has developed from there. Tag along as Mike takes us down memory lane on some great historical hunts sharing his tips that have made him successful along the way. Man these farm breakdowns have been very informative. I am going to take some of the thoughts and tips and put them to good use on my place for sure. What are Mike's restrictions on doing timber work to thicken some of those areas up with the programs he is enrolled in?

We love to hear that man! Thank you for taking the time to watch! What thoughts and tips were your favorite that you are going to apply where you hunt? The River Farm is enrolled in a WRP program through the NRCS and with that, most work that is done on the property has to go through a CUA (compatibility use agreement). Essentially a forester will come out and make a recommendation of what to do and when they give the OK, work can commence once the CUA is updated! -Mike

@@MidwestWhitetailVideos starting from the beginning of your hunts, the access. Having the mowed paths and using terrain allows you to have cleaner hunts while there and after you are gone by not leaving scent trails. Also, putting in the work to move a setup 10,20,30 yards just to be more in the game. A lot of people would just set and watch since they are seeing deer. Then the way you guys use the terrain and food plot layouts to manipulate the deer movement is genius. On Owen's episode, they showed an aerial photo and mapped his plots while he was talking about putting the plots in a line to maximize the movement and opportunity. So simple and made so much sense. Can't wait until we get to see the new 76ac piece. Hope you all made it through the crazy storms ok!

A great example how year after year paying attention to the small details can make all of the difference. Great info and some pretty cool moments to look back on! Let’s just hope ‘24 is looking a whole lot like this video!

No doubt '24 is looking up with the mild winter, wet spring, and abundance of natural food available. Hopefully it's another great year on the River Farm for Mike and co. One thing is for sure, the work will be done to create the "luck" needed for an opportunity!
