Definitely one of my favorite passages. “Don’t you see the plants, the birds, the ants and spiders and bees going about their individual tasks, putting the world in order, as best they can? And you’re not willing to do your job as a human being?”

Sounds like cope, don't think lions for example need to talk themselves into hunting 😂

Exactly why we shpuldnt have to talk ourselves into getting out of bed when we dont want to, you proved the point in using that example @apachehelicopter7625

Except you're talking about survival at that point. Civilization makes life easier and puts us in a position where we can stay in bed longer.
Rich or poor everyone must face the cold.
Shoutout to all the people watching this in bed 😆🤟🏼
I’m reading Meditations, helping make sense of a lot of confusion
It’s a great video to watch from under the covers in the morning 😂
I do my journaling under the covers because I wake up at 3am. 🤷♀️
I get up at 4am everyday
I take a pen to paper upon awakening after bed is made. I dress and then sit for 20 minutes in Transcendental /vedic meditation. Then I go outside and ride bike Non negotiable

♥️ your channel thanks
This had nothing to do with "how he got up early." 😂
I wish you had been my Philosophy professor many years ago….I may have had better grades! It was confusing at the time, but you present it so well. 👍
Great comments
ive got penguin's version of meditations and it has a biiiig intro. Struggling to get through it so far, but I'm remembering why i bought it in the first place now
So how did he?

he was an emperor, he couldn't stay in bed all day, it wasn't his nature. he had a responsibility and he had to face it, because it is what universal reason gave him. You don't see a bee rest or ants do nothing.

essentially he asked himself if that’s what he was made to do- to huddle for warmth under the covers, or if he was meant to go and do his job that he was born for. He realized there’s nothing to complain about if he’s doing what he was meant to do

If I wanna lie in bed all day I'll do it, and then I'll face consequences but in the interim not gonna feel guilty

So how did he get up?
Yes
Shit it's 3pm uh oh
He also didn’t have arthritis and a soft modern day bed of comfort… He pretty much had no choice but to get up because people also wanted what he had..
@ayuwoki453

You don't need a super comfortable modern bed. He was an emperor, he probably had a good enough bed; and when waking up in the morning, any bed feels really comfortable.
Marcus Areulius really had angel Tom ,devil Tom talk everyday.
Apparently youtube thinks I need help waking up with all these wake up videos. Wrong again algorithm 😅
This didnt tell me how marcus got up early...0/10

Stoics say reading philosophy is a good use of time because you kinda add wisdom of entire lifetimes to your own lifespan. So if he could, he would be watching podcasts
No proof Marcus wrote meditation. Earliest manuscript is from 1300ad more then 1000 years after he lived. It was a monk who wrote his own thoughts and credited it to Marcus to make money and sell copies.
I liked the part where he said how he got up early, delete your channel.
Is that actually philosophy though, discussing why you might want to stay in bed?

It’s just a tiny example of how philosophy can help you change your mindset even in the smallest of things, which overall can accumulate. If you start improving small things, it sets you on a path where at some point you will be able to improve the big ones

@Philrc
Жыл бұрын
@@gauravrathi5877 Not sure. what do you think it comes under? Self improvement advice? Or does your passive aggressive question suggest that you think if I'm not sure that it comes under philosophy i must therefore know what it _does_ come under? Because there is no logical reason for that assumption
